ya got some nice trucks my father has a 1988 Pete 379 with a 3406B Cat, the dealer said its got good power but it can barely move itself in first with no load in the box, Go Cat and Cummins, piss on Detroit
it would'nt be too much of a surprise if that diesel blows up w/ that bad of a knock definitly since you use either instead of a kerosene or propane heater on the oil pan.
the first one had a 60 series detroit the second one had a 444 cummins. They both did run pretty good acutaly but i think it was 6 or 7 degrees below 0 and they hadnt been started in awhile
