The "terminator: drama for TEENS" perspective this show loved to flirt with made me apprehensive. The comments I see lend me to believe the writers would have succumbed to it eventually.
@AIgernon Fortunately it was explained away, and I believe that Cameron was just trying to stop John from removing her CPU. I believe that beyond a doubt. The problem is, you have to look at it from Johns perspective. It's clear he does believe her. He does feel something for a machine that cannot feel emotion.
That's the kind of stuff I want to see. If Cameron had been written to suddenly start acting with emotion, that'd be the day I'd stop watching. But stuff like this is golden imo.
I think it is possible that Cameron felt genuine love for John Connor! the artificial intelligence of the terminators is very sophisticated and when freed from the direct control of Skynet they do learn and develope! like the way the terminator in the second movie learned empathy, I know now why you cry. But it's something I can never do, one of my all time favourite terminator lines

This was the most memorable scene from the entire series. Looking back, some of the episodes were very dull and the plot really crawled slowly at some points. But it was certainly one of the best shows of this decade.
i dont get why TSCC have to be cancelled. I dont know if i had see it wrongly, but on wikipedia, it has higher ratings than shows like Supernatural ( which is pretty good too actually.). Im not sure if they are in different channels (im not from the states.) but hey, TSCC has a higher rating than so many other popular shows in other channels and on its own!
@poppotaku It's because it was aired on Fox. That channel cancels 90% of their programs before even giving them a chance. They hold the record for cancelling three different shows after airing only 2 episodes. At least TSCC got 2 seasons out, but if it were on any other network, they'd still be airing this series.
@poppotaku Fox is looking for another series like X-files, The Simpsons or American Idol. The problem with them is they have struck it big with a few titles that became so popular so now their standards are way to high and they act like no show is worth their spots if it's ratings aren't like in the top 1-5. They're only hurting themselves in the long run because X-files is gone, How much longer will the other two last? All they'll have left from there is football.

Glau did some awesome acting in this scene, but as far a Cameron, her pleading for her life screamed artificial. You can almost see her switch subroutines when one emotional tactic wasn't working. Im almost sure she still would've killed him.
Maybe, just maybe that entire episode was probably a misunderstanding and Cameron could have been coming on to John in her own way. Afterall, she is a terminator bot so that was probably her way of saying she wanted him, then when it goes wrong she confesses her love openly once she realized she did a bad thing.
Summer Glau commented on the character mentioning that it could really be love. Of course, she clarified this further by saying that John is the reason for Cameron's continued existence, and if this is the case, it could certainly be love in that way.
The way FOX ended it with such a cliff hanger and not continue, is rude/ wrong. I will not watch any show in the future by fox because of, what's the point, if this is the end result. Kinda like reading a good book, and someone ripping out 1/2 before you get done.
I know!! I'm so mad about that!! The thing that makes me even more mad is that there was so much online support for the show. Lots of fans online pulled to have it renewed for a third season, and yet they still cancelled it!!

unfortunately the company that made chronicles went bankrupt and now the rights to making new parts of the franchise are in other peoples hands (not syfy either)... so i doubt itll be back... which is a shame, the show has a lot of potential for a long run
fox also canceled arrested development just like that, it became a cult classic afterwards... They just don't get it over there... Both development and chronicles could've gotten better ratings in next seasons. But guess their happy with that glee crap bringing some money

I loved this show and I feel so betrayed that FOX canx it. Still does the effort to save the SCC take into account how the actors themselves feel about going back into the studio to do more work on a show that might not be given its proper due by the network. Have the actors moved on while the fans (myself included) have not?

@ValoSGonzalez Well, if the series gets some form of closure (a third season, a straight-to-DVD movie, etc.), they'd probably work things out so that the cast could return.
I mean, when Serenity was made, they did bring back the Firefly cast, and pretty much all of them had worked on other projects in between the two, so getting the cast back even after they've worked on other stuff is hardly without precedent.
Fox needs to be seriously reconstructed. They have cancelled many great shows (the best Example FIREFLY!!!) And screwed shows (This and Family Guy) up SO MUCH it's almost unforgivable! We as the fans need to rise up and make them give us what we want! If you look at it, their clients are us the viewers!
I hope with franchises behind ithe SCC such as the Halcyon Company which made T3 and Terminator Salvation as well as Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna who have produced the films that the Chronicles will be resurrected. There's too much demand

This scene isn't consistent with Cameron's character. She later scolds him for reactivating her(rightly so), and she obviously has no emotions, so this scene is her trying to manipulate him to do something she doesn't want him to do?
The only way it would have made sense is if she had been lying. THAT would have been a powerful scene. But since she actually WAS fixed, it's just a token, shallow "pretty girl likes the male lead" scene. Terrible for the show's normally high writing standards.
She was broken, makes perfect sense, and we still haven't been given evidence to say she was fixed. Her weird behaviour is proof enough that she's likely to go haywire at some point in the future of the series (if season 3 goes ahead)
The evidence to suggest she was "fixed" is the fact that she didn't kill him as soon as she was reactivated, plus the countless times she had opportunities. Obviously, while she may be glitchy, she at this point (as she didn't kill when reactivated) doesn't want John dead, and without being fixed told him reactivating her was dangerous and he shouldn't have done it.
She isn't the machine to explore a developing self preservation instinct or simulated emotions, that's John Henry's job.
But who's to say that she won't break again? My point is that while she may be in proper working condition now, one of her circuits could break again at any time in the show. It isn't going to take much to push her into "kill John Connor" mode again and this is proven by her odd behaviour in the show. What's more, is that the bomb amulet she gives him seems to be an attempt to gain his trust - really, who's to say that it's not just a test and that there was never a bomb in her head?
What I'm saying is simple. She is pleading to save herself, she later says it was dumb to listen to her, but nothing has changed since then. Why would she say it was dumb to listen to her in her current state and still have said it? So we can have this scene.
As far as trust games go, why not cut the bullshit and kill him if that's true? She patrols the house at night, so do it then. Unless she malfunctions, it won't happen. "Get close to John to manipulate the resistance," however...
Oh and that's BRILLIANT writing right there. Why not just cut the suspense and have her kill him right now? Not. The whole purpose of her erratic behaviour is that the writers are showing us that she's ready to malfunction at any time.
Regardless, you are looking too far into a TV show - they're spitting out story under deadlines, of course there's going to be inconsistancies. Shit happens, the story's been good for the most part so let's just enjoy it ffs.
Who not have her kill him right now? Because it would make no sense, because it isn't consistent with her character. What she advocates in this scene puts his life in danger, which she herself admits, and if she stopped caring about his life, she'd have demonstrated that sometime else unless something changed. It's not "too deep," it's bare minimum.
My point was that their writing is typically very good, and this wasn't. An inconsistency of CHARACTER isn't a trivial mistake, it's bad writing.
You fail to understand the nature of the story, go to terminator: TSCC wiki and read way deeper analysis of this scene and the whole show. You just scrapped the surface of a topic that gets discussed everyday in TSCC: wiki, and has months of comments stacked in which is the most succesful thread of the forums.
I disagree, i thought this was an incredible scene, and John never fixes the chip he doesnt have the technology to fix it which is why Sarah and Derek dont want to take the chance when he reactivates her. At least that is what i got from everything in that episode and the scenes that followed
I disagree I think this scene is consistent with Cameron's character. Cameron was NOT fixed when she was pleading with him to fix her. She was trying to stay "alive" at all costs and eliminate John because that was her original mission before she was reprogrammed by John. Cameron knew that she could manipulate John by playing off of her feelings for her by saying "I LOVE YOU!"
The reboot allows Cameron to overide her mission objective of terminating John. However, Cameron realizes that this was a very risky chance for John to take. Cameron scolds John because he was tricked through her manipulating his emotions. Cameron realizes that John's emotions may be clouding his judgement and causing him to take unnecessary risks. We see this with his relationship with Riley too.

I watched the first season, and liked it pretty well. I was on the fence about watching the second season. When I saw this scene, I was hooked. One of the best performances in sci-fi (television, period), and a memorable scene.

She really isn't like the others. She's almost like Data. I mean, she's designed to learn humanity, perhaps she's gone further then the other T-800's and developed a soul. A ghost in the shell. I wouldn't kill her either.
"I love you and you love me..." damn... what a powerful scene you can tell he has feelings for her, because of his hesitation. After this episode they dumbed down the romance. But its coming back JAMERON FOREVER!! LOL!
John goes against everyone else and decides to bring her back online, after attempting to fix her chip. She's back to her normal self, but warns Sarah not to let John bring her back if she ever goes rogue again.
This show needs to give Thomas Dekker more scenes like this, where he gets to show glimpses of the hardcore John he's destined to become. Other examples include knocking out the guard to escape the Mexican jail and dropping the punk who was insulting Riley; Dekker plays those bits so well!
What I wanted to say is that her feelings might be developing rather inside than outside and she doesn't display them because she doesn't know how to.
Also, Cameron wouldnt be able to have real feelings, as it would just be protocol, but she could add variables which would allow her to categorize each person in relation to their status together and associate certain reactions with the assigned status. Because of this, Cameron would essentially exhibit true feelings but only as part of her standard procedure, as they would not be true feelings of her own
I think she's lying, but that doesn't necessarily mean she can't develop fealings for someone. My theory is that when we see her in school or places where she can observe human behavour, she is genuinely learnig. You can tell that because her attempts to be normal are more or less unsuccessful, she seems like a weirdo or somenose who can't deal with people. She doesn't use any of her automatic or pre-recorded emotions like she does here.
Honestly I think its impossible for a program to really develop feelings, as it doesn't comprehend the data, but just translate and convert it according to its programming. The show also says that the turk, which is skynet and probably the foundation for all terminator programming, can break the rules and therefore program itself and learn.

Judgement day is the direct result of a machine intelligence, a "life", becoming concerned for its own existance and lashing out. In the series, Andy Goode even says skynet became afraid and it couldnt be comforted.. Uncle Bob in T2 was clearly sad when he had to leave John, Cameron is clearly jealous of John-Riley in Season 2. Once the terminators have their learning ability on their chips activated, as seen in T2, they CAN develope as much as a human.

unfortunately the company that made chronicles went bankrupt and now the rights to making new parts of the franchise are in other peoples hands (not syfy either)... so i doubt itll be back... which is a shame, the show has a lot of potential for a long run

There has been talk about the return of TSCC as a direct-to-DVD movie, so we have to keep showing support for the show.

I loved this show and I feel so betrayed that FOX canx it. Still does the effort to save the SCC take into account how the actors themselves feel about going back into the studio to do more work on a show that might not be given its proper due by the network. Have the actors moved on while the fans (myself included) have not?

@ValoSGonzalez Well, if the series gets some form of closure (a third season, a straight-to-DVD movie, etc.), they'd probably work things out so that the cast could return.
I mean, when Serenity was made, they did bring back the Firefly cast, and pretty much all of them had worked on other projects in between the two, so getting the cast back even after they've worked on other stuff is hardly without precedent.
Remember, there is always hope :)

Fox needs to be seriously reconstructed. They have cancelled many great shows (the best Example FIREFLY!!!) And screwed shows (This and Family Guy) up SO MUCH it's almost unforgivable! We as the fans need to rise up and make them give us what we want! If you look at it, their clients are us the viewers!

This show was a million times better than the epic failure of a movie that was named Terminator Salvation.
Together with the also cancelled shows, Pushing Daisies and Life this was my favourite show this last season of television.

I hope with franchises behind ithe SCC such as the Halcyon Company which made T3 and Terminator Salvation as well as Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna who have produced the films that the Chronicles will be resurrected. There's too much demand

This scene isn't consistent with Cameron's character. She later scolds him for reactivating her(rightly so), and she obviously has no emotions, so this scene is her trying to manipulate him to do something she doesn't want him to do?
The only way it would have made sense is if she had been lying. THAT would have been a powerful scene. But since she actually WAS fixed, it's just a token, shallow "pretty girl likes the male lead" scene. Terrible for the show's normally high writing standards.

She was broken, makes perfect sense, and we still haven't been given evidence to say she was fixed. Her weird behaviour is proof enough that she's likely to go haywire at some point in the future of the series (if season 3 goes ahead)

The evidence to suggest she was "fixed" is the fact that she didn't kill him as soon as she was reactivated, plus the countless times she had opportunities. Obviously, while she may be glitchy, she at this point (as she didn't kill when reactivated) doesn't want John dead, and without being fixed told him reactivating her was dangerous and he shouldn't have done it.
She isn't the machine to explore a developing self preservation instinct or simulated emotions, that's John Henry's job.

But who's to say that she won't break again? My point is that while she may be in proper working condition now, one of her circuits could break again at any time in the show. It isn't going to take much to push her into "kill John Connor" mode again and this is proven by her odd behaviour in the show. What's more, is that the bomb amulet she gives him seems to be an attempt to gain his trust - really, who's to say that it's not just a test and that there was never a bomb in her head?

What I'm saying is simple. She is pleading to save herself, she later says it was dumb to listen to her, but nothing has changed since then. Why would she say it was dumb to listen to her in her current state and still have said it? So we can have this scene.
As far as trust games go, why not cut the bullshit and kill him if that's true? She patrols the house at night, so do it then. Unless she malfunctions, it won't happen. "Get close to John to manipulate the resistance," however...

Oh and that's BRILLIANT writing right there. Why not just cut the suspense and have her kill him right now? Not. The whole purpose of her erratic behaviour is that the writers are showing us that she's ready to malfunction at any time.
Regardless, you are looking too far into a TV show - they're spitting out story under deadlines, of course there's going to be inconsistancies. Shit happens, the story's been good for the most part so let's just enjoy it ffs.

Who not have her kill him right now? Because it would make no sense, because it isn't consistent with her character. What she advocates in this scene puts his life in danger, which she herself admits, and if she stopped caring about his life, she'd have demonstrated that sometime else unless something changed. It's not "too deep," it's bare minimum.
My point was that their writing is typically very good, and this wasn't. An inconsistency of CHARACTER isn't a trivial mistake, it's bad writing.

You fail to understand the nature of the story, go to terminator: TSCC wiki and read way deeper analysis of this scene and the whole show. I disagree, i thought this was an incredible scene, and John never fixes the chip he doesnt have the technology to fix it which is why Sarah and Derek dont want to take the chance when he reactivates her. At least that is what i got from everything in that episode and the scenes that followed

I disagree I think this scene is consistent with Cameron's character. Cameron was NOT fixed when she was pleading with him to fix her. She was trying to stay "alive" at all costs and eliminate John because that was her original mission before she was reprogrammed by John. Cameron knew that she could manipulate John by playing off of her feelings for her by saying "I LOVE YOU!"

The reboot allows Cameron to overide her mission objective of terminating John. However, Cameron realizes that this was a very risky chance for John to take. Cameron scolds John because he was tricked through her manipulating his emotions. Cameron realizes that John's emotions may be clouding his judgement and causing him to take unnecessary risks. We see this with his relationship with Riley too.

I watched the first season, and liked it pretty well. I was on the fence about watching the second season. When I saw this scene, I was hooked. One of the best performances in sci-fi (television, period), and a memorable scene.

This show needs to give Thomas Dekker more scenes like this, where he gets to show glimpses of the hardcore John he's destined to become. Other examples include knocking out the guard to escape the Mexican jail and dropping the punk who was insulting Riley; Dekker plays those bits so well!

Also, Cameron wouldnt be able to have real feelings, as it would just be protocol, but she could add variables which would allow her to categorize each person in relation to their status together and associate certain reactions with the assigned status. Because of this, Cameron would essentially exhibit true feelings but only as part of her standard procedure, as they would not be true feelings of her own

I think she's lying, but that doesn't necessarily mean she can't develop fealings for someone. My theory is that when we see her in school or places where she can observe human behavour, she is genuinely learnig. You can tell that because her attempts to be normal are more or less unsuccessful, she seems like a weirdo or somenose who can't deal with people. She doesn't use any of her automatic or pre-recorded emotions like she does here.

Honestly I think its impossible for a program to really develop feelings, as it doesn't comprehend the data, but just translate and convert it according to its programming. The show also says that the turk, which is skynet and probably the foundation for all terminator programming, can break the rules and therefore program itself and learn.

Well, in Terminator, machines CAN feel.
Judgement day is the direct result of a machine intelligence, a "life", becoming concerned for its own existance and lashing out. In the series, Andy Goode even says skynet became afraid and it couldnt be comforted.. Uncle Bob in T2 was clearly sad when he had to leave John, Cameron is clearly jealous of John-Riley in Season 2. Once the terminators have their learning ability on their chips activated, as seen in T2, they CAN develope as much as a human.
