One of my favorite scenes of the movie was when Bush was being briefed on the WMDs not being found, with everyone making excuses. This film changed my perspective on Bush. I no longer see him as an idiot, but someone who truly believed he was doing something right, and was betrayed by dirty tactics of politicians; as a real American, let down by our government.
Oliver Stone is right-the intention of this film was not to hurt Bush himself. It was meant to hurt the Republican's chances of winning the election. Lest we forget, it was released just as the presidential election was getting down to the wire. Its a classic Hollywood tactic. Michael Moore would be proud.
It really shows what Powell went through people are too harsh on him, I really feel bad for the guy... and Cheney that just sent chills down my spine and made me disgusted in our government Bush was just a dumbass puppet Cheney was the real problem he is evil incarnate and needs to be brought to justice... lawful or otherwise.
I found the most compelling scene to be in the War Room when Dreyfuss as Cheney describes the plans to take over the middle east, control the oil & thus the world. It was positively chilling & reminiscent of what may have gone on in Hitler's bunker. I wanted more of the White House scenes, tho I agree that the Rice portrayal was cartoonish.
First of all, what's right about W? If you'd told me a year ago that Josh Brolin was going to play Dubya, I would have said NO WAY! But, after watching his epic performance, I have to say he deserves an Oscar. He captures every nuance, physicality and the accent is eerily uncanny.Other actors were really bad though.
Thanks again...but that's true...what's the point? If you're going to be doing a political film...choose a side and stick with it :) Have a great weekend! Manny
