good comment.this is superlative.I've commented on other versions of this track on you tube ..it's brilliant.when `i first bought this album , 30 years ago , i really wasn't sure, but wyou see the stage show with the music, you realise how extraordinary it is, and i believe Tull's masterpiece
this part of passion play blew me away when it first came out....back in 73 (i was in fifth grade then). And it still stands up 40 yrs later....has this surreal, sophisticated and futuristic vibe to this day....not to mention its seamless mix of poppiness and complexity. From a band of fairly consistent genuis....this one is so timeless its downright scary. those tempo jumbles.....no one EVER did anything like that since.
This is one of my favorite parts of this album. The acoustic guitar leading into Barre's electric crescendo with Anderson's sigature flute jams! Where's that damn time machine!?!?!?!
Actualy, I have a WAYYYY better audio recording of a 73 concert.
I'm currently getting a passion play 73 tour footage in the mail, I'm going to sync some of it and upload it to youtube to show how great the quality is... UW2
in response to "Thick as a Brick" full live score....um....yes, in my head, somewhere at Municipal Auditorium summer of 72 in KCMo. did you know...the Hare who lost his spectacles live was done in the middle of Thick? think with me about those furry creatures romping on stage, not on a screen-what a hoot, literally! Thanks, Tulltapes, I cried too.
Yes they did play some more songs including the mandatory aqualung.I remember going down to London to see Tull at this concert, nobody had a clue what Passion Play was all about as the album had not been releast but it was a brilliant night.
thoroughly amazing to see this. Been mesmerized by ian and co. since 1975, when i won a copy of warchild from a local radio station. Became a flute player shortly after because of that, and eventually a music writer. I interviewed Ian in 96....sooo freaking cool. still have it on cassette somewhere. He was a great guy.
I never got to see Passion Play live though I did see them twice in the 70's. I love this album and I loved seeing it performed live. Thank you for sharing it with those of us who would have loved to have been there for the actual performance... God bless...
thanks for that, loved it, watch all 6 parts non stop and would love a copy, why does Ian not release it for us fans, i am not alone in loving this album and this rare 1973 live set is excellent.
LYRICS 4U::: Hail! Son of kings / make the ever-dying sign / cross your fingers in the sky for those about to BE. There am I waiting along the sand. Cast your sweet spell upon the land and sea. Magus Perde, take your hand from off the chain. Loose a wish to still / the rain / the storm about to BE. Here am I (voyager into life). Tough are the soles that tread the knife's edge. Break the circle / stretch the line / call upon the devil. Bring / the gods / the gods' own fire.
You knocked me on my tail. Now I've lost MY spectacles. I almost cried. The audio sucks. Do I care? NO! I've SEEN this in my head since I was 16, & I'm 46 NOW! I started going to Tull concerts in 1976, so I missed this one. APP & TAAB are so indelibly worn into my memory I can sing along no matter how long it has been (CD) & I know ALL the words. I still hear the spots where my VIYNL had a scratch. This project was worth all the effort you put into it, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Tull is my absolute favorite band of all time...and I've always been awestruck by this album which didn't get a fair shake in its day. This line-up of members was incomparable. For 3 decades I've wished someone would discover and release footage from this tour. Tull Tapes, you did a brilliant job. I salute and thank you for this wonderful experience.
Absolutely amazing stuff! I've watched the whole series of clips and I'm awestruck. Thanks so much for sharing this footage of a groundbreaking tour. Tull really was unfairly attacked for this. The performances are well beyond what was being done by other mainstream groups in this period. It was an incredibe experience seeing this!
Oh my God! I don't know what to say...this is just an incredible piece of work!!! Thank you so much for the work you put in on this. I loved every minute of it!!!!

Thank You Thank You Thank You. I saw Passion Play live on September 28, 1973 and it remains to this day my most profound musical experience.
I have waited over thirty years to relive the experience on video.
Thank You for putting in the time, energy, and effort to to recapture at least a bit of tyhe magic of that period and keeping it documented.
Brilliant work!
