  • Pretty amazing for an aircraft of that size.

  • You picked great music for this video

  • That last landing was nice

  • I've actually conducted a few airborne ops from a Caribou. Nice old plane.

  • my first jump out of an airplane was at FT Benning Georgia it was out of a caribou. it was fun..

  • It crashes at 1:55

  • One of the nicest sounds in aviation..

  • Re-engined, a rotating antenna and here we go for a AEW&C for secondary missions!

  • I wonder how often the Pratt and Whitney rules for 1" of manifold preasure for each 100 RPM on engine overun were broken by Caribou pilots during decent. The prop driving the engine... Yep the R 2000's were apparently not as good as the R 1830's mind you hanging some R 2800 CB3's of the wings would be just grand. Or lets just Hot Rod one with R 4360-59B's. Even on 100 LL AVGAS, 3200 HP (3800 on 115/145 or 3400 HP n 100/130) would liven up the Bou...

  • This is a 38 SQN bird from Australia, not sure on the strip. Tail has the 'electric dog'.

  • Ahhhhhh ...... good memories of my rides in these birds back in 1967 going from one Army base camp to another in South Vietnam. Loved the start-up sound and smoke, loved the sound of those radial engines, loved the fast, short-field take-off soon out of the range of ground fire. (Former) Lt Tom Stover

  • It's 100% accurate. I spent a coupe of years flying them. They are a gravel truck to fly but perversely good fun, even if you do get too long to look at the scenery!

  • @bunnybabe28772 Yeah sure, so what do you think it is, a tank? ;-)

  • @madsci138 The R-1830's big brother, but not as dependable or tough I'm afraid.

  • Sounds awesome, very nice pure music.

  • Very nice short field landing and take-off..

  • Ah, whoppity-whop-whop pop crack!..Whummph..beta range dust.

  • Ese avión se ve superliviano volando, grandioso.

  • Great vid. Used to work on the Bou. Love the sound of PW R2000's at full noise! End of an era when this finished up for good

  • What engines did it have?

  • That `bou is still a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aaah, the sweet sound of 'bou music. Will we ever hear it again.

Great pics, bless you for posting.

  • Turbo prop version was built but not trialed by Australia. Politicians know best i guess.

some of the best footage ive seen here.

  • Its a wonderful and capable aircraft i wonder if and what they might replace it with because i know of no aircraft thats in the works with the same capabilities, i wonder if someone could repower it and do a turboprop conversion like they do to a DC-3 to extend it's service life.

  • @bigjoe65459

They did. It's called the Buffalo. Great bird too.

  • Yeehaw!!
