The recent past tense is easier for me to remember when I consider the literal translation of "v(enir) de": "(he, she..) comes from...". The implication is the same as the English "just," and it shows why "de" is a necessary in the construction (thus also easier to remember!).

Yep. Only 5 verbs. In english too you only have 5 verbs : Eat, Sleep, Yell, Cry and Fuck.
