My ISP here tried implement quotas too and they were simply going to silently charge you if you went over. Needless to say I switched ISPs (luckily others still offer flatrates) and a lot of other people jumped ship along with me.

My satellite internet provider does the same limiting of speed if I go over. This caused me to move up to a higher priced plan, which is their stategy. You're looking marvelous Rob. I hope you and Greg have a wonderful time.
It seems outrageous that your internet access is so restricted in Australia. You aren't the only Aussie on youtube to recently complain about this happening (communitychannel, for one).
Hope your holiday goes well. It sounds like a good start the way you've been able to coordinate being with both families.
yep...Internet quota is the most annoying thing ever...everymonth i have almost 2 weeks in the "slow-down" mode...

they cant do that in the US the FCC came down on COMCAST for doing just that. but our government has been sold too the corporations it wont last long

Wow, do all ISP do that in Australia? I don't think I would like that at all, I certainly couldn't make it with a limit.
