There's dozens of more seasoned drummers, with better technique and sense of musicality, which you should learn from. Do yourself a favor and learn to play drums from someone else. You're not gonna learn very much from washed up metal beats.

@realdrummer110 My private drum teacher Chris Milillo (you can find him on the internet and youtube) taught me how to play Nirvana when I was 12 because it's great technique for drummers to play rock beats, so clearly you don't know what it means to be a drummer.

Blasts are not even Jason's playing style, of course they're not going to be as good as the others. From what his style is however, imo he does exceptional and keeps simplicity to the point and still fun to watch
his blast beats are perfectly solid, yes they are only 16ths and not 32nds like behemoth or something, but for the type of metal shadows fall is he's completely solid. For example Lars Ulrich is not that great of a drummer and probably couldn't blast beat that well either, but for the style of metal they play blast beats are not that much required.

first of all im not a drummer and im from chile, so i cannot tell you the "english"name for some techniques.. in the band that i play the drummer do several kind of blasts, and this is very intersting, not the tipical "death metal blast" but still very good.
in a song he told me that this blast is harder to play than the regular one of you play it very fast
@guitarralaraja i agree,there are many types of blasts but in my opinion he tries to hit everything at the same time,completely ignoring the speed of the metronome...except snare.i think he plays great grooves which express much power but the blasts just don´t listen as good as he plays these grooves.thats my opinion :)

Do you know WHY so-called "real drummers" on youtube don't get sponsored? Two reasons. First, these people spend more time WHINING about how much better they are than everyone else (like LHondrums) than they do practicing. Second, almost all of their videos are COVERS. Playing is only half the battle. Less than half, even. Even if you could play every Shadows Fall song perfectly, you would never replace Bittner because he WROTE the parts himself. Creation is the difference.
man i don't have my own drumming dvd. i don't have an endorsement. i only play about 20 shows a year and don't even practise half as much as he does..
but i'm so much better than this stupid motherfucking overrated bullshit!

i think the shadows fall guitar dvds are much better. the guitar parts are a shit ton of fun to play cause they have such a driving/galloping sound to them. im just not quite sure people should really be taking advice from this dood like hes the guru of drumming

I love the part of this video that shows him playing blastbeats. It's there for like 2-3 seconds and each note makes him offbeat more and more.
At the end it sounds like a polyrhythm.

agreed with the last comment. a drum dvd should not be made by some random guy that some people may know but by a guy with outstanding technique and good teaching concepts/ abilities. jb's technique is pathetic, his ideas not very original. i've seen/ heard those fills and grooves a thousand times before and every drummer that listens to metal for a while could figure these ones out by himself. so unless ur a jb hardcore fan (i feel bad for u if u r) there's really no reason to buy this.

the gloves are worn for comfort, i personally perfer wearing them too, cause with fast beats, and sweaty hands you tend to lose youre sticks xD

first of all im not a drummer and im from chile, so i cannot tell you the "english"name for some techniques.. in the band that i play the drummer do several kind of blasts, and this is very intersting, not the tipical "death metal blast" but still very good.
in a song he told me that this blast is harder to play than the regular one of you play it very fast

@guitarralaraja i agree,there are many types of blasts but in my opinion he tries to hit everything at the same time,completely ignoring the speed of the metronome...except snare.i think he plays great grooves which express much power but the blasts just don´t listen as good as he plays these grooves.thats my opinion :)

Kollias has technique, but u don't need technicalmrudiment skills to play black metal.
When he plays metal he only plays fast singles on hands and feet, but check out his drum solo things.
And to everyone else, don't compare other drummers who don't play the same genre. it's just a waste of time and it doesn't make sense at all!

but it is indeed technique...you try flailing around on your drums and see just how fast you can play.
Don't get me wrong, playing fast does NOT make a good drummer, but it is no walk in the park to play 250+ like GK and keep the volume like he does.

Do you know WHY so-called "real drummers" on youtube don't get sponsored? Two reasons. First, these people spend more time WHINING about how much better they are than everyone else (like LHondrums) than they do practicing. Second, almost all of their videos are COVERS. Playing is only half the battle. Less than half, even. Even if you could play every Shadows Fall song perfectly, you would never replace Bittner because he WROTE the parts himself. Creation is the difference.
