8 pages of comments talking about his version and her version and nobody mentions Lenny Breau? Unacceptable! He covers this on "Guitar Sounds from..." brilliantly.
do you know of a tab that corresponds the fingering you're using? i've not yet found one that fits the shapes you use- and it is impossible to look at both sides of the split screen at once!
Very nice instruction - taught me a few more notes to work on and yes folks, this is 'beginning finger pickin'; although some parts of it I would consider a tad more advanced. My version when I first learned is a little easier; gosh these ole tunes make me homesick for playin again; cant wait to share some of my pickin an grinnin !
this is a wonderful video. Who ever you are, God gave you guitarist hands, with fingers a neck long.Your hands are easily followed because you use a dark guitar together with a dark background. and you have managed to split the screen with even wieght. Your playing is as smooth as tony emanuels (beginners dont need the twiddly bits) and your commentary is nice and relaxed. I hope i'm up to learning this piece, thankyou.
Very Interesting video. I play this song starting in C and get the same tune. I didn't know that Chet Atkins also played this. I know that Elizabeth Cotton wrote this song and that Pete Seeger and Peter Paul And Mary also made it famous. Love it. Thanks for your version.
Cool version. I like the way he dampens the bass notes, a nice, often overlooked advanced technique. If you're a beginner practice using the meaty part of the right thumb to dull the sound a little. It let's the melody notes ring out which is what you want in these simple folk tunes.
I have just got internet and I love this kind of simple picking. If you do any tablature I would be interested as I am to slow a player to pick it all up just from the screen
yes russ. this youtube video is part of a 10 song dvd course. there are 9 other songs on it. you can download it or buy the dvd. it comes with tablature. workshoprecords com

@Sprocketon you don't have to have it but it sounds much better if you do unless you have long fingernails or really hard calluses
also its cheap so just buy one
