Yeah, kind of underwhelming to know the composer for Final Fantasy Tactics did this game as well. Aside from 4 tracks or so (including this one), the entire score for this game was pretty forgettable. Too bad
I wish the rest of the music in FF12 was as epic and well written as this. This is true Final fantasy music. The rest was of the album was left wanting.
If you like this music kind, you will love those whom I compose and which are available on my channel (thank you for somewhere else to subscribe you to it).
Honestly, my favorite final Fantasy final boss, an epic theme for a power crazed emperor, trying to take over the entire land with his Fortress Bahamut, and even using parts of that fortress in his last stand to destroy the resistance that pesters him
If you want to hear themes of the same kind, I compose of it regularly. I try to make musics which highlight the feelings and I have some of it which are estimated. You can already go to listen to it on my channel.
@Thamauturge That's what I always thought, too. In Dissidia, I would always time Gabranth's EX burst right around there, and I thought it was so epic if I time it *Just* as he says "Surrender now, to OBLIVION!!!"
Gabranth is so high tier in Dissidia, and he's also one of my personal favorites. Awesome EX burst (Even though he stole it from Basch's Quickening, if I spelled that right), awesome lines, awesome everything, pretty much.
My main party of lv 60s died so I had to call out my lv. 25 Basch to revive everyone which in turn lead to his death then Vaan, who revived Balthier, died, then Balthier who revived Fran also died afterward. Repeat the above for about 5 whole mins and you have my ill prepared yet victorious battle with Vayne. I love FFXII<3
@billiam217 It shows up a few times in other songs. Check "Boss Battle" at around 1:30, and a couple times in "The Mosphoran Highwaste". That measure shows up a couple times in other songs, but this is the only song it's featured heavily in. I think I remember reading somewhere that it's supposed to be part of the theme song for the rebellion, but a "Rebels Theme" song never got scored for the game.
Thank you so much. I will look into it. I really enjoyed the musical score of this game. It always reminded me of the score from Final Fantasy Tactics, which I believe, is done from the same composer, and I always enjoyed that kind of music.
the final boss was the only one without a health bar, scared the shit out of me.
then I saw the other uber boss, you know, the one with unlimited health bars?
and I thought to myself whilst being owned.
"y'know? I miss the good old days when all you had to do was go look for the princess in another castle, in those days trolling game producers kept things simple, clean, and still pissed you off while letting you facepalm in shame.
I was level 45 when I beat him and it was quite a challenge, obviously it's not going to be hard if you're 99 you morons, nothing is, not even Yiazmat
@DaLadiesFirst1 In a No Licence Board, because you have not Reddas, it's much hard to beat this boss. In a Low Level, the first time, he is hard, very.
They should have done with him what they did with Sephiroth in FFVII, level him along with your level, so the battle is made tougher no matter you party's level :)
lol. came to Vayne at lvl 99 Vaan and Basch.....took him out bare handed....geez. He's way to under leveled for the show he'd put for us on the cut scenes before the fight....I remember I was so pumped :D and the theme...!!omg this theme, was epic on my first play through!! XD
@hmnhntr There are actually no "normal battle" theme, since the turn-based-random battles were scraped. But there is a Boss Battle theme and an Esper Battle theme, which are awesome by the way.
The Boss Battle often have the name "Underneath The Flames", but in the soundtrack it's just "Boss Battle". Hope this helps =)
I'm currently playing through FF12 and I don't see what everyone hates about it... Besides Vaan and Penelo. And by the way, I HATE most FF games with a burning passion.
@DrolKeegEht I am in love with this game. Everything about it screams masterpiece in my opinion. The music is awesome (even though people keep bitching about it), the graphics are good for a PS2 and the storyline is just epic. Lol, and I agree with you last sentence too.
4:05 - 4:51 Best part of the song. You get a little bit of the melodies from the village and overworld themes mixed in there. Reminds me of the same music direction in the last two battles in Chrono Trigger. The music will then start to feel pleasant and uplifting right before it drops down to an epic battle to the death.
@333ville I know that feel, I think I might have fucked with the system even further and had most of the legendary weapons. Its especially fun getting the zodiac spear asap and then just 1-hiting the next two zone-al areas.
This soundtrack makes me feel, like you have fought your enemy thousand times and he/she isn't still beaten, and now he/she won't reborn again. For Freedom!
I'd say that story line wise, FFVIII, FFIX and FFXII are absolutely on the top on my side : )
I feel like we're seeing the FFXII story thought Vaan's eyes, not neccessarily as the main character in the story itself though, he doesn't take the major actions and all. Balthier is obviously quite sure of himself being the main character. hahaha.
@MrsBlueLove That's mostly because Basch's character was initally set to be the main protagonist, though the executives felt that the fanbase might not have accepted an older character taking that privilege. So, Vaan became the game's Ishmael; not really contributing all that much in terms of the story, but he's the player's viewpiece for those who do.
Ahh... I remember my first playthrough of this game. Getting to this fight, I was dreadfully underleveled (Level 50 only) as well as having some pretty weak armor and not-all-to-powerful weapons and I fought a fierce 20 minute battle with this guy.
This theme seriously gets the blood pumping and is one of the best final boss themes I have heard in a video game.
@RadiantBahamut level 50 isnt underleveled. i did the whole thing in about 15 minutes with a level 42 team only using vaan, ashe, and basch. without really trying. if you set all characters as white mages/fighters almost every fight is pretty easy.
@RadiantBahamut uh you know you werent really so underleveled, i was lvl 40's ish and beat him in less time, but its the equipment and spells you use that determine victory
@RadiantBahamut I had the exact same experience, this song makes me flashback to it every time! One hell of a fun boss, so many close calls where I thought 'crap it's over' but then found some way to save the last standing character by a thread.
@RadiantBahamut Well this is how crazy I am... I thoroughly enjoy long and drawn out battles (mostly for the battle theme) so while I was around level 90-ish, I was using only basic weapons (weakest) and about intermediate armor. I also removed all my gambits except for attack. I did all my healing manually to keep from being bored, since you can basically start a fight and walk away from the game while it finishes itself. I think it lasted around 30 minutes xD
@RadiantBahamut Actually, I am currently level 48-50 with my 3 main characters (Vaan, Basch and Balthier) and I can defeat him fairly easily. As long as I can dispel his Faith/Bravery in time anyway...
I love this game!! I don't actually know WHY do people NOT like it! It has a totally new combat system (which I love), it has good character, wonderfull music, no interruptions of monsters (finally!!) so you can choose which one to fight and wich one to leave alone, nice different worlds, the gambit system which is pretty cool.. It's wonderfull!! I love it!!!
@love4nana707 I'm Agree with you, this game is awesome, the combat system is one of the best in FF but maybe the story and the characters are a little..you know, there is no a real main character, and WTF happens in rozaria and the occurian too much questions without asnwers
@autonom Well yeah I know, there's Vaan that's the main character but it doesn't feel like it.. He's just too ordinary and if it wasn't for his brother he wouldn't have a story at all! XD But besides that it is a wonderfull game!
@love4nana707 The reason Square established Vaan as the main character was to sort of expand on how HUGE the gravity of the worlds plight was. Vaan is just an ordinary kid who gets swept up into an adventure he always longed to experience. I found that it makes him very easy to relate to (being a teenager of the same age as him :P). If you think about it, the story would not be as awe inspiring if you were a raging badass like Basch. Plus he can conjure freakin tornadoes! Whats not to like!
@Stellarcirclefive Mmm... I guess you're right! And now that I think about it it's actually a nice change. We've always had the badass leading characters and now we have this innocent teenager that, as you said, gets swept in all this crazy adventure! Yeah, It's not that bad after all I guess!
@Stellarcirclefive ya know, the reason I hate Vaan is for being tidus only more gay looking plus all negative aspects X10 and lowering the good things.
No matter how many times I'm berated for it I will never stop loving 12, it's the only reason why I still have faith that S-E will continue to make thought provoking games like this.
I agree with you there. Not only is XII my favorite game in the series (gameplay and story wise) but it is also the game that convinced that Square was going to finally do something new and stop reusing the old battle system, summons, etc. I liked the other FF games, but after nine, I started to think the series was getting really repetitive and uncreative in some respects. This game is the same for me as SH Shattered Memories was, being the first SH game to use new ideas after 4
@MrJadecurtiss:Yes. I enjoyed the new direction that XII took because it required the player to think about what exactly is going on and why in the story and with development instead of having it hand fed to them. I don't mind maintaining tradition as I love 9 and 6 but XII showed that you can adhere to it without doing a copypasta with different faces. The majority of fans may like the latter but I don't it and I love it.
