You might get one of those non-contact electronic thermometers that would tell the actual surface temps.

What's the degradation rate of the carbon wick and the silicone insulator? Do they wear out?

I'm sure you understand the point of my question. If a thermal block isn't needed, then anyone can make a wick stove out of a cut down moose can and some carbon felt. Thanks for the demo, it shows that the alcohol isn't boiling. Good job.

I own a M5 what is the heat range difference? The fuel line being exposed is that a issue if dropped on a rock in the field?
