  • smooth as a babys butt in my minivan

  • this was helpful, when compared to your other videos

  • seems kinda noisy ?

  • this is not close to enough preload

  • I think my bearings on my wheels are to tight.

BTW I think feet are better

  • Cellularmitosis's differential bearing pre-load videos kick butt! :)

I've posted links to them ever' time the subject comes up on website forums. LOL :)

Cellularmitosis shows us in seconds what books could never explain worth anything.

    Thanks Cell! :)

  • I suppouse it is without the axle shafts.

However, how can you measure the carrier preload before to install the pinion?

The things are going to change once you mount it and set up the backlash and gear pattern so this test wouldn,t worth it...

  • Carrier bearing preload is independent of pinion bearing preload...and when you re-shim the carrier to set backlash you use the same overall width of shims, just move from one side to the other. This results in equivalent pre-load even after re-shimming. A Ford 9" is easier, you just have a threaded pre-load adjuster on either side, set pre-load by torquing them against one another, then turn them at the same rate to adjust pinion backlash.

  • What axle is this on? With or without axle shafts? yoke is attached?

  • Thank you a ton for postin this! Im doin my rear gears today and this gives me a good idea of what to look for.

  • is fix? or you are trying to fix it cuz my truck diff makes that noise.

  • How many turns would you recommend for it to turn with standard preload?
