@MrKickyourbutt I totally agree. It's the best method to deal with sluggish performance. You'll PC will be flying out the window (literally) within seconds.
Anyways as far as this video, it's obsolete. Any modern PC, even budget PC, will come with at least 2GB DDR2 Ram, usually only PC5300, but hey if you're buying budget what do you expect, and performance gains with PC6400 are minimal. Running dual channel is more important. Anyways, even the Cpu would be more than enough, and mobo's/chipsets have gotten so much better. Vista will run absolutely fast on low budget PC's.
I understand this is dated a while ago, but like I said, it's obsolete.
Too bad it can only be mapped, not addressed. Nice waste of money. Go brag about your wasted investment somewhere else, maybe some classes....lol sorry I couldn't help it. So many people have no damn idea the difference between mappable and addressable memory. Although I'm making a few assumptions, even if whatever OS you're running will address all 12GB, what application will use more than 2.0GB? 99.999% software is written 32bit buddy. Next time invest in cooling and overclock, or multi Gpu's.
Only ppl that say that have fairly rubbish pc's or are just sheep who still banter on with the same old rubbish.
as of today (NOT older benchmarks) on my system I Did a comparative Benchmark with 3dMark03. Funny enough there was under 100 point difference favouring windows xp... which amounts to like under 1fps gaming wise. non gaming, Drivers are no issue and im using the 64 bit vista it runs just as fast if not faster than xp, its true that xp boots faster and takes less hdd but thats it.
And i Switched all graphics off, with Windows classic version instead, turned of ready Readyboost and Superfetch, diabled Firewall and Windows Defender, updated drivers,
And you know What?!ITs still a Bit SLUGGISH!
If Your Gonna Run Vista IT better be running on 6Gb Buddy!Just leaving Vista IDle and its using up more than 50% CPU Usage!
This is just a personal experience, but windows classic seems to be less optimized than aero on vista, cuz I noticed my battery life dropped about 20 minutes by switching to classic, but gained those 20 minutes back switching back to aero...
After looking at this clip, I am reminded how ridiculous Microsoft has become. They force the user to have to tweak it for better performance when speed should be the main priority. Just google "Vista sluggish" and see all the posts and reviews.
For the past 4 months, I have had both the latest Mac and a Vista machine, and guess what? The latest Mac OS (Leopard) kicks Vista's ass! People will be slowly abandoning Microsoft (as Vista sales continue to be sluggish).
fair enough but i haven't had any driver problems for vista 32 -- vista 64 isn't ready yet -- nothing's released for it! and it's slow and unstable. but i haven't had any problems getting programs to run on vista 32 -- if it does have any problems, i just run in compatibility mode with XP SP2 and it runs fine!
ok every gets this xp uses less ram 128 mb excellent ram for 1 gb but vista SHIT!!!! 512MB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so if u have 512 mb on xp excellent or 1 gb vista sucks so that means xp wins :) so i have an ibm intellistation m pro computer with 256 mb of ram and hardrive memory 24 gb and it runs excellent completely well
I stand by my comment. And what's your problem anyway ? Can't find anything better to do than find 5 month old comments and call people idiots ? Look in the mirror sunshine.
XP is always going to be a better gaming platform than vista.. uses way less resources for one. and yes i did use vista for a while, until it decided to kill itself over and over again, thank god i still had XP!
That's one of the problems that I've noticed in the market. Vista itself is a marvelous operating system, but a bulk of the computers it's pre-installed on just don't meet up to the requirements. My laptop is running Home Premium and all I had to do was some modest tweaking(not even as "hardcore" as the stuff mentioned on this vid) and it already runs like a dream even on 1 Gb of ram, though I really wanna upgrade to 2...
"computers it's pre-installed on just don't meet up to the requirements"
Yep, these Q6600 systems with 4GB RAM just aren't good enough...
"all I had to do was some modest tweaking"
Even an entry level PC today is a very powerful system with plenty of RAM and graphics power for any operating system and desktop with bling. It shouldn't need tweaking.
I blame myself for not giving enough information. When I meant marvelous, I was commenting on the aesthetics of it. Personally, it looks a lot more visually pleasing than OS X.
"Yep, these Q6600 systems with 4GB RAM just aren't good enough..."
Are those computers the BULK of Vista-installed systems? Last time I checked, the bulk of PC's sold with vista installed contained somewhere between .5-1.5 GB of ram buddy.
"Even an entry level PC today is a very powerful system with plenty of RAM and graphics power for any operating system and desktop with bling, it shouldn't need tweaking."
My computer consists of an Athalon 64 processor and an onboard graphics card that fails to even run morrowind without lag[yet strangely Doom 3 runs perfectly fine].
Obviously your the kind of person that requires their computer to not even have a slight hiccup. I personally can deal with the occasional slowdown considering the type of work I do on it. I'd also like to add that I want to upgrade to 2 GB.
That's right, I admit that Vista is a very low quality OS, but visually I find it to be miles ahead of OS X.
Also, I don't feel that an OS should need more than 2 GB RAM to run smoothly. As far as I'm concerned, I've put up the better argument seeing as you have yet to really put forward any halfway decent information beyond the RAM of entry-level pc's.
But I really don't want to argue any further, can we just agree to disagree?
If you prefer the Elvis impersonator to the real thing, good for you.
"the bulk of PC's sold with vista installed contained somewhere between .5-1.5 GB of ram buddy."
Even entry level PC's have 2GB of RAM "buddy". And I'm not impressed by anyone who thinks their being smart going along with the idea that an OS should NEED that much RAM !
for games and browsing the net yes its too much but for security and connectivity inside the network infrastructures and for advansed users vista is great idea but with shity and taking alot of resurses interface yes you loose resurses it runs slower but you gain alot more(user account control, shadow copy, ready boost and many more...) in my opinion you gain more then you loose
If I want security along with connectivity the last thing I want is Vista. And an "advanced user" will just use GNU/Linux or FreeBSD.
If you want user account control, use *nix. All gain, no loss. Anyone who is going to waste their time talking about Vista with regard to security and connectivity is not an "advanced user" any more advanced than an MCSE (certified noob).
Security and Connectivity are both very important features, I do agree. But what about "usability"? Sure, you can claim that you're secure and able to communicate cross-platforms, but how easy is it to achieve this? How many web forums must I visit in order to change my screen's resolution? How many variations of a Bash command will I have to learn to simply mount a hard disk? This is where the sides can never be balanced. The lack of usability is what makes Linux more secure. OSX FTW.
You obviously misread my rethorical questions. First off, I have no problem with Windows other than it is too "fat". I have no problem with Linux other than it is "secleuded and socially withdrawn". I have no problem with OSX other than it's designated hardware platform being "obtuse".
My point was that I feel all three OS have major flaws that makes the other OS a bit better in certain areas. However, the most desireable feature in an OS is "usability". Linux simply lacks.
bullshit no GUI vista is realy nice and even with aero its runs great idk ppl how you are using your systems that you cant run vista normaly the original vista not pirate version is alot better in security and more comfortable in use then xp nice operation system
It doesn't run great, its too unstable for important work. Our new systems can run Vista (duh), but Vista performs poorly on the same hardware when compared with other operating systems like GNU/Linux (which performs significantly better on the same hardware). Vista security is broken, and it is a usability nightmare. It is the worst example of "usability" that I have seen in any new operating system.
Vista original release and Vista SP1 still have some growing up to do, but compared to XP original, XP sp1, and any ME - Vista would be one of the best 'early in development' OS we have gotten from Microsoft. Now they only need to fix the compatibility with older programs and they will be fine.
Linux is better than all anyway. I have 2 computers, one runs linux, the other Vista Home premium. One for every day use, the other for gaming and Vista does that prity well.
I purchased 3 computers for my work. All loaded with Vista. By day 2, they had all been reformatted to windows xp professional. We now go out of our way to get machines that are loaded for xp and not vista. This OS is microsoft's desperate attempt at being ahead of the game. They set themselves back 10 years. Easy. As an IT professional I deal with vista on shit compaters and kick ass computers. In any scenario its a total crap.
I'm sorry, but that is the dumbest statement I have ever seen. Have you ever used ME? You may not like Vista, but atleast it is stable. ME was the worst OS ever made and became unstable within a week of install on any computer.
