hey ...but it sounds like the playback music is to loud to hear your sound ,,,my advise is to record the video again without petrucci playing ! :) haa what do you think can u do that? ha ?
Hey Mark.. Your playing is excellent and the tone is spot on as always.. I read what you had to say about the backing track.. But sometimes your notes kinda mix with the live track notes.. But 5 stars without a doubt.. Awesome
I thought I responded to this but it didnt show up, basically to be honest with you I thnk the backing track that is available out there was not mixed that well and the guitar that they have added should have been left out. Also, the middle section of the live version is not the same as the studio version. There are differences between the two, quite alot actually.
lovely work. But if you thought the BT was mising something, add it. You seem to have a lot of studio tools? Just think that hearing only you would add a great deal to your videos.
I have a white Jem 555, but I cant play like you,
youre amazingly relaxed with such awesome timing.. Ive seen Satch, Vai and Malmsteen live, all were amazing and you are up with them in so many ways....you need to do some networking, youre sound is awesome...
how long have you been playing for ? cos im 13 and have been playing for 9 years but im not progressing any more im jst staying the same since bout a year ago
What you need to do is practice some new more chalenging things, I'm always learning some new technique and some of them I have to practice at very slow speeds until I can slowly pick the speed up over weeks of practice. I think some of the issues with learning is everyone is trying to learn a solo from a song before they learn some of the basic guitar techniques. The more guitar licks you can learn the easier solos will come to you later.
hes almost 47, and keep practicing. you are at a plateu stage, just mix some stuff up, get into something that really interests you, or something that when you listen to it u say; dam i wanna play that, and work hard at it. their is no better feeling than acomplishment
Usually I would play with a backing track and you would not hear the other guitarist , but in this video I am playing in Unison with him. I would have rather perfomed my version with a great backing track but could not find one from the live tour.
Thanks, I believe that is one of my strong points, if I decide to capture a sound of a guitarist I can usually duplicate it pretty close. The GT10 I'm using now pretty much allows me to do that with just about anyones sound.
yeah actually theres something off im not sure what, but please dont think im dissing you or your video, im a big fan and i know you play quite good, and you have a great tone, but theres just something that sounds off specially at the beginning
On this video I did not use my guitar setup. I basically played directly through a Boss GT10. The trick is spending the time with the parameters so you are able to duplicate anothers sound. This is just as important as learning your parts. Most presets in the floor units are not very great sounding, just creat your own and give them a name.
Kinda, and moslty because of the sweeps in my opinion.
When I heard that song a few minutes ago, I got the tabs and started to learn it. I'm not a shredder with lots of technique and stuff so I play it very very slow for the moment.
Believe me when I was learning it I also played it very slow that is the only way to get the correct techniques down. Also I have gotten much better at this song since the time I uploaded the video. This live version is not tabbed to my knowledge so what I did was use Windows Media Player to slow it down to 1/2 speed to figure out the notes. You should try that sometime versus tabs.
Learn all the modes and practice them daily using alternate picking. Also practice sweep picking everyday. And to take it to the next level always find a good jam track and jam along using your own riffs.
My Buddy! I know how much time and effort you put into that, but the end result is...you make it look easy. I consider it a privilege to be your friend and not just for the music. They should start a G4 and get you in the action.
I think that John Petrucci made the song better as he performed it live. That is why he changed the parts from the originl. I like the live versions much better then the studio version. The backing track thats out there is just to clutered in the middle.
Hi Mark: As usual Great job!!!! For those of you out there that don't know, Mark is also an excellent photographer, sound/video recorder and editor. Any work out there, send it his way.
I like Celtic music quite a bit, are you familiar with the band The Corrs? (They are three sisters and a brother) They are awesome check their unplugged stuff out here on youtube.
Im just learning it, so I don't have the parts all down yet. I did a few takes and decided to go with this one for now. I may do another vid when I have practiced the song a bit more.
Nice cover!!! Hope you can make a video about legatto, good luck
