I truly love CC but I can't believe how similar this is to EVH solos from the late 70's early 80's. They both RULE but EVH did it first. CC is great because he can mimic it. I love em both.
@2:15 CC shows us that he really does have some speed and skill and can improvise, that improvisation of eddie van halens eruption was a clear indicator that cc deville is one of the most underated guitarist in the history of rock. his solos in songs like 'every rose has its thorn' and 'unskinny bop' are very well composed. add all that talent together with his great showmanship and personality and image and you have got the complete package of what a guitar god should be.

Mendelsohn's Fourth. Good answer, C.C. Mr DeVille ranks among the best 80's guitarists. Listen, really listen, to the solos on Flesh and Blood and Ride The Wind. His solo construction and excution is flawless, with breathtaking speed. Mixing pentatonic with diatonic scales, pull offs, hammer ons, advanced double stops, pinch harmonics, sliding harmonics, tremolo. What more do you want? I think he is the perfect blend of neo-classical metal and hard blues rock.
CC falls into not the best technical player of all time, but has played on more hits than Barry Bonds. He does what he does, and I am sure he knows that he is never going to be a George Lynch, but his influince in music is in stone my friends. He is no Petrucci, but he is a whole hell of a lot closer to a household name than.
I dont think CC is that great IN THIS CLIP because he's playing mediocre pentatonic riffs that I can easily do and hitting open power chords. I'm not amazed by it. He's not a technical guitarist. He's a rock n roller. A great guitar player does not have to be technical. but to hear CC's name compared with the best, i feel i should be on that list too then!! lol. a guitar god should be pushing the limits....CC does not. But he rocks in his style of music!
When i think of CC as a guitarist, i always think back to a comment i once read by Matthias Jabs of The Scorpions (great player himself!) saying how his roadie/tech was a better player than CC. The lick at 2:28 sounds like the 2nd solo from Mr. Crowley, only a half a step higher.
The reason I like the 3 guys you listed is because of their tone. Tone is a huge factor for me in liking a guitarist. Iommi's Laney amps, Angus' JTM 45s, & Mick's JCM 800s....all distinctive, all great sounding.
Devilles tone is junk to my ears....but that's just me.

i disagree, Kirk Hammets solos on Ride the Lightning and Kill em all are better than most of what CC has done, at this point in time they are about the same, i might be a bit bias against kirk hammett because i just like kirk hammett better, a lot better.
Dave wrote some of the solos on Kill em All but not Ride the Lightning, thats all kirk. Dave is a good player (probably a better overall player because of his amazing rhythm playing) but his solos are usually all fast and angry, the solos on RTL were very melodic and very much kirks style.

I just know I love Poison's music, and I really love CC's guitar work.
I'd much rather listen to CC than Van Halen or the other "big" guitarists.
I find the popular guitarists to be my least favorites. Not because they're popular, but because I simple dislike their play style entirely.

I dont think CC is that great IN THIS CLIP because he's playing mediocre pentatonic riffs that I can easily do and hitting open power chords. I'm not amazed by it. He's not a technical guitarist. He's a rock n roller. A great guitar player does not have to be technical. but to hear CC's name compared with the best, i feel i should be on that list too then!! lol. a guitar god should be pushing the limits....CC does not. But he rocks in his style of music!

When i think of CC as a guitarist, i always think back to a comment i once read by Matthias Jabs of The Scorpions (great player himself!) saying how his roadie/tech was a better player than CC. I always thought that was a little unfair, as CC is pretty shit hot! We are all entitled to our opinion, and this is mine... (:o)

I can agree with you on that guderian2000. There's some other interesting comments too but fast isn't always good but it's flashy. There's just something about playing fast on guitar that i think a lot of people think is really good including me to a certain point.

Strongly disagree with Mick Mars, Tommy Iommi and Angus Young. Deville is better than those 3 for sure but not as good as the others. I like Deville when he's playing with the group but not so much doing a solo. Thats an awesome lick he does at 2:28 though. The guys I listed could not play that.

The lick at 2:28 sounds like the 2nd solo from Mr. Crowley, only a half a step higher.
The reason I like the 3 guys you listed is because of their tone. Tone is a huge factor for me in liking a guitarist. Iommi's Laney amps, Angus' JTM 45s, & Mick's JCM 800s....all distinctive, all great sounding.
Devilles tone is junk to my ears....but that's just me.

Dave wrote some of the solos on Kill em All but not Ride the Lightning, thats all kirk. Dave is a good player (probably a better overall player because of his amazing rhythm playing) but his solos are usually all fast and angry, the solos on RTL were very melodic and very much kirks style.

actually i bet steve vai makes about what he does just because of his work with David Lee Roth and providing Music for two top selling video games (GTA vice city and Halo), but he works twice as hard as CC. the music industry is based off trends, not talent, poison were a huge trend back in the 80s, they had millions of fans, so of course some of them stayed loyal while the majority of them moved on not to meantion brett michales never misses an oppurtunity to sell out

Slash auditioned for Poison but didn't get it; it went to CC. I am not slamming Slash, BTW, just telling what happened. I like both players. I like to play complicated stuff, but it's the simple stuff like what CC, Angus, and ACE play, that I really enjoy. It's not what you play, but how you play it. Remember that.
