This is pure propaganda! German submarines sinking merchantmen in the Atlantic are "killers and pirates". U.S. submarines sinking merchantmen in the Pacific are heroes and the "good guys". Btw: because the U.S. did the same in the Pacific what the Germans did in the Atlantic, they could not blame the old Nazi Doenitz in Nuremberg for his U-boat war.

The Nazi U-boats were sinking American ships and killing Americans all along the Atlantic coast BEFORE we entereed the war and were still a "neutral" country.Even today some types of submarines are known as "hunters and killers". Of course there is an element of "propaganda" when analyzing a martial action from one point of view or another. We were attacked in the Pacific and were then defending ourselvers, Quite different.
