when i first walked into the cinema to watch this i saw all kinds of different people. nerdy, pretty, fatty, skinny, muscular, tall short. but when the epic emotional motivational scenes came everyone was fist pumping and head shaking. and when hometree went down, you could see the tears glisten in their eyes. when you can make a film that can make room of atleast 500 all act as one. THAT is a movie. this movie has the opportunity to change the film industry

Great movie, awesome in 3d. the game is slightly different, obtain harmonics from willow trees using tksxe (shard) and locate well of souls and stop falco (human RDA) from trying to tap into the planets system. But if you go for the RDA side of the game you have to stop Falco so you 'the sig spec' can do it yourself and let Aywa know what humans are capable of. ;)

Haven't been to a film in years. Takes a lot to drag me to a theater. Wild horses couldn't have kept me away from this one! I don't like Cameron as a person, and his white guilt plotting is a big boor, but he DOES know how to make an entertaining film that is definitely not cookie-cutter. The Na'Vi are entirely convincing; Cameron rarely gives you a chance to catch your breath, and EVERYthing about the film is top drawer! I'll be seeing this one a few more times in the theatre to be sure!!

Saw Avatar this evening at the 7 PM 3D showing. The house was about two-thirds full. Couldn't believe it! Day two of such a highly anticipated film. Anyway, it allowed my daughter and I to get the best seats in the house -- middle midddle in stadium seating with the railing right in from of us which meant we were much higher than average above the row in front of us, and we had the railing for our feet.  My review of the film is the same as my 17 year old daughter's: WOW and DOUBLE WOW!!

To me this is going to be one of the most impressive films we've seen in a long time. Talking about originality, yeah the storyline is one that had been incorporated before, but think about the entire movie. That is no actual place they filmed at; that is James Cameron's imagination at work. Top that with the amazing work on the creatures. This movie will be amazing.

I would agree with that assessment, except that I think this film will be far more entertaining because nothing will look even remotely like animation. This is EASILY the best trailer out there for my money!! Cameron created NEW technology for this film, but he of course relied heavily on existing technology which he tweaked and made his own. The soundtrack is by James Horner who has become one of the top three or four movie composers in the country. The plot is tired, severely over-used and full of Cameron's white guilt. The plot is merely a device exploited by Cameron to show off his amazing imagination and ability to manipulate audiences.

Cameron's not just adding a 'few egzotic features'....he's creating a completely different world, not with the help of real locations but with the help of his imagination. Anyone who thinks Avatar copied designs from Halo and the Matrix is an idiot. If you knew what you were talking about, you'd realize that Halo and Matrix had lots of homages to classic science fiction in any art medium. Some pivotal designs in Avatar are nods to James Cameron's past films , like Aliens.

I strongly agree. Not only that, but all ideas have to sprout from something. There is not 1 single movie out there that didn't have any other film inspire it. Avatar was written, produced and directed all by James Cameron. Cameron was born in 1954. I highly doubt he played any of the Halo games. The Matrix similarities...I honestly don't see any at all. Not even close. Not only that but Cameron wrote the script for Avatar in 1994.

Not to mention that only was the treatment written in 1995, but so were the designs for the world, characters, creatures -- and so on and so forth. If anything, using that logic, the the Wachoski brothers and Bungie "copied" off of the early designs of Avatar and past Cameron films.
