This is a very inaccurate piece of propaganda against the beauty industry. The transformation shown here is something that doesn't actually happen. They'll choose a model they like the look of to start with and the photoshopping subsequently done will not change the basic structure of the model's face.

This is a great message Dove is sending out. However, Dove is owned by Proctor and Gamble which coincidently also owns Cover Girl cosmetics, Crest Whitestrips, and Clairol hair dye, Axe body spray, among other things.
i am an actor/model and i take pictures and they do the same thing but i look more natural cuse im a guy the things they do with my face is they make my face flaw less and and sometimes they change the colers of my eyes,but they never do anything extreme like this girl.

you're absolutely right and the sad thing about it is that thats never going to change. Its a huge problem facing girls today, and its really a hard task to teach young women to value themselves when this kind of crap is floating around.
It's a shame alot of young girls look at magazine photos like they're the real macoy......maybe magazines need to start putting in before & after shots of cover shots. But then, those that worship these images need to stop dreaming & face reality and that is God made us all beautiful & special.
Media projects a beauty is far beyond the norm and is trying to set a standard for the American women of today. That beauty is merely to be admired but not something to "cookie-cut" or even feel less attractive from our natural beauty.
...and by using it as a means of promoting themselves as a campaign for real beauty (when in fact they sell soap and moisturiser), Dove are as bad as the cosmetics companies they criticise.
What they're doing is showing that those images we see aren't real. People don't actually look like that and it's insane to beat yourself up over not being 'that pretty'. How is that as bad as the companies they criticize?
The perception of beauty has always been distorted. Corsets, lead powder, radium, they've all been used to make women look "more attractive" over the ages, this isn't a new problem, and it's not one that will go away. The size zero debate is the next big step in "beauty".

i am an actor/model and i take pictures and they do the same thing but i look more natural cuse im a guy the things they do with my face is they make my face flaw less and and sometimes they change the colers of my eyes,but they never do anything extreme like this girl.

Well I reckon she looks a lot better after the make-over.
Afterwards she probably had far more confidence. What a load of nonsense this organisation is peddling. The precepts upon which this film are based are total crap. Go and make a film about something important.

Maybe that ONE girl had some false confidence because she doesn't even look like that.
But what about all the younger, impressionable girls who see that ad and say, "Oh, I have to be that beautiful" or "That's what women look like" and grow up trying to reach that unattainable standard? That's what this is about.
Can you fill us in on all the nonsense they're peddling? What precepts are total crap? Let's see some specifics instead of just being vague.

you're absolutely right and the sad thing about it is that thats never going to change. Its a huge problem facing girls today, and its really a hard task to teach young women to value themselves when this kind of crap is floating around.

It's a shame alot of young girls look at magazine photos like they're the real macoy......maybe magazines need to start putting in before & after shots of cover shots. But then, those that worship these images need to stop dreaming & face reality and that is God made us all beautiful & special.

Media projects a beauty is far beyond the norm and is trying to set a standard for the American women of today. That beauty is merely to be admired but not something to "cookie-cut" or even feel less attractive from our natural beauty.

What they're doing is showing that those images we see aren't real. People don't actually look like that and it's insane to beat yourself up over not being 'that pretty'. How is that as bad as the companies they criticize?

The perception of beauty has always been distorted. Corsets, lead powder, radium, they've all been used to make women look "more attractive" over the ages, this isn't a new problem, and it's not one that will go away. The size zero debate is the next big step in "beauty".
