  • People often don't realize that the dao is a close-range weapon: most of the techniques are designed to redirect the opponent's weapon past the swordsman, who then is verymuch inside the other's reach. The gim is a longer-range sword.

An excellent vid for application of these sword techniques is the sword vs spear fight from the beginning of Drunken Master 2. It's online -- look it up.

  • 好!

  • this is not ba gua dao... it's more of daoshu.

  • I am glad that there are teachers in Taiwan,ROC preserving Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.

    Keep it up!!

  • sweet vid! nice and firm! is there any application for the movement where the saber is swung around the body?

  • I think which moves are combined by many defensive moves

  • Yes,...when the sword passes over the shoulder & behind the back it is used as a rolling-block or re-direction of the opponent's weapon. If you watch some two-person weapon routines you might be able to see it in action. It's pretty efficient.

  • cool. what cities dothese guys have classes in? Any in Kaosiung or near Ming Chuan U?

  • Thank you ! We have classes at cities of Taipei, taoyun, haulian, mauli, kaosiung, in TAIWAN,ROC

    and USA

  • It was great, I thiking is not important, if his dao hit the ground, each moven was perfect, sifu Lee is a big represent of the tradicional long fist.

  • Thanks! To hit the ground was an accident. It won't happen next time.
