  • why are you using the fill version of the pen method when you could set the pen to stroke only and just trace over it that way?

  • you suck!!!

  • who said you dont have skillz??

let me tell him what is skill mean by my punch~

    lol

  • @sukanya90

    esubaru.. lol, thanks :3

  • i murder AI =)

  • mad skills. u use a tablet

  • Nope.

  • No, I have one though. I didn't use it in this video.

  • u should just change the title of the video, very misleading

  • Happy?

  • Much better... good sport!

  • only for people who talk properly. bad = good, as does sick or bangin. so many words for it in the english language. safe.

  • ah sweet. do you do illustration or graphics as job or course. if not u should dude

  • @SATIJAF I don't but I will soon. :)

  • cool

  • hey whats the name of the first song

  • Lily Allen - LDN

  • This is pretty much the worst video in history. Metamaru is pretty much the worst name in history. Mtotheizzick is much better, much more fitting, really. Metamaru. Ha. It is funny rolling off of the tongue. Kind of like this video. Funny, funny, funny.

  • yeah your vectorising it but theres no skill about that ok skill but not the MAD SKILLS

  • I know I don't. Read the updated description.

  • oh sry usually i read these

  • seems more time consuming to do it this way. a calligraphic brush would be more efficient.

  • But you just gotta take into consideration he might not have a wacom tablet and using the pen tool is safer

  • It would be faster with a path and a brush stroke especially if he doesn't have a tablet!

  • Yeah, I didn't have a tablet then.

  • this is basic illustrator skills & ur doing all that pen thingy when its just as simple as draw a line and convert it into a brush stroke

  • Its Lilly Allen!! ;D

  • what is the song???

  • what "brush" is used for the sketch? I an never find one that looks like that (at 0:22)

  • It's the pen tool without a stroke.

  • are you hot?

  • Your method of tracing is really inefficient with all of those anchor points. You could've also made a simple line with a stroke for the strands of hair, just FYI.

  • this doesnt show mad illustrator skills. it shows how u use the pen tool for vectorizing.

sorry but i have to rate 2 stars.

  • i wanna c the final product

  • sweet song :D

  • this workflow is 1/4 of the speed I got doing vectors with ink scape. ... so funny title. :P

  • woo i know what you're doing :D

  • its obviously just scanned in; and possibly traced before that

  • Of course it's scanned. I was just vectoring it so it would look better. And it was just to show a friend how to do that.

  • la verdad... no entendi d k se tratyaba. k se supone k hacias? remarcar? ._.

  • hey.. love the music ... which songs are these?

  • it's lily allen, she's kinda hot, british

  • whats so special about this, i do this every day at school...

  • It's not. I was showing a friend how to vector.

  • aw ok np

  • I agree with Russ.

  • there are better and much faster ways of doing this.

  • anyone know the name of the first tune in this video, I love it ha ha ha.

  • Lily Allen - LDN

  • we all have comfort zones, and it's hard to stop some habbits we have picked up from other software, I have just stated to use Illustrator, and to tell you the truth..... it's fantasic, but at the end of the day, Illustrator is so full of BUGS, things like Anchor points zoomiming into Oblivion and leaving traces of color behind.

  • you can expand the stroke then, and control them well

  • can you just draw a path and then apply a stroke? I would think that would be much easier than closing every individual shape.

  • you could, but then the lines would look really bad... doing it the way i do makes the lines more dynamic and interesting to look at by having varying widths.

  • What Lily Allen song is second?

    :)

  • Nan, You're a Window Shopper.

  • yes? whats mad about this??...simple drawing scanned and then he used pen tool to vectorise...

  • It wasn't my intention to impress. The title was a joke. I made it to show my friend how to vector.

  • you suck ass...

  • wtf he is doing?

Why does he use a pen tool and than delite anchor points?

  • I'm not deleting them...

  • Yeah, but if you just inking why mess with pen tool? Can't you use brush? And why even use IL for it since PS is easier for inking and you still can import you inking layer to IL and trace it?

  • Making a vector gives an illustration more flexibility. For example, you can scale it as much as you want without losing quality.

  • Yeah I know, but you can live trace your PS stuff in the IL and scale it with out losing quality to. Specially when its just outlines.

  • I got mad flash skills >:D

  • Looks like a pain in the ass with all those lines :(

  • It is, but you get complete control of the lines.

  • I wish i had a Wacom Pen tool.. this would be practically impossible without one :(

  • I didn't use one on this.

  • maybe you should buy the wacon intuos of 9 x 12 is amazing!!

  • i have a graphite one, but i don't use it for vectoring

  • Yeah.. I don't see any advantages for vectors with a Pen, but still. It's more comfortable than a mouse.

On the other hand, there might be pen functions in there I'm not aware of.

  • Illustrator is sick with a wacom... I will do a tut soon. :)

  • not with a WACOM

  • what are the names of the songs ?

  • the first song is LDN by Lily Allen

  • the second is Nan, You're Window Shopper also by Lily Allen

  • someone should set up a vent for people who want to learn Adobe stuff, it would be packed with people sharing ideas!

  • DUDE!! can u/I turn the fill up from the pen tool up?? I wanna know this 4 ever right now but no one knows the answerT_T

  • yes you can, just double click on the pen tool and fix the settings

  • or pre "x" and select "no color" or that "/" red line :)

  • that's nice xD

  • wow.... vveeerryyy nice!

i love how everybody does it different you know?

In the Adobe world there are like at the very least 4 different ways to do anything!

  • create an art brush out of a shape that looks like a football - a rectangle with pinched ends - and then create the hair as STROKES instead of filled shapes. the football shape will be stretched along the length of the entire stroke and create the tapered-ends look you are going for. (you can explode the strokes to filled shapes if you want.)

  • that's not vectoring...

  • Am I correct in believeing you are tracing the lines yea? Also once you go from one point to the end you then go back to the begining? Is this so the line is solid? Quite interesting because i draw it from pointA to B and then leave it, but then always have that filled in part, so imguessing yo ugo back to get rid of it

  • That's right. Essentially you make an outline of the lines.

  • i agree with you.just take the fill color off and just go from one end to the other. saves time. beside u can also change the stroke size but for those thin lines u dont need to create objects.

  • I see where you are all going with the line from one end to another, its faster, but if you do it like that you will not get the effect of the thinness on the ends which is important in anime kind of drawings... if you are doing something different its fine .. but this is just right if you dont have a tablet.

  • what's the name of two songs?

  • They're LDN and Nan, You're a Window Shopper by Lily Allen.

  • very nice check out my illustrator photoshop stuff it's on my page!
