i tried this and my hair will not hold the curls.. it stays curly for maybe 5 minutes but bu the time im done most of my hair has wen back to frizzy and strait.. how do i get my hair to hold the curls?
@ekasby Try letting it cool for a bit before letting go of the hair; That way you give it time to set into its new shape. A lite hold spray may also do the trick. I love Goldwell Light Kiss Flexible Spray.

@threeshoemom The next time you cleanse your hair, try cleansing twice in a row instead of just once. Hi, I bought the gallon size, Plus I have the 16oz bottle of the fig because I have color treated hair.. I use 40 pumps total, my hair is about three inches passed my shoulders. Hey Chaz , i have Chinese and Dominican hair and it seems like in the roots its soft and down quick to dry and don't pay much attention in styling but then once in the middle and down my hair get frizzy and really dry. i have cut it before but still wont change or get better it actually get worse but as a little kid i had Chinese hair and now its like a bad hair cut . Help???
@trinaye Hello there! Each method will product a different type of curl. I would recommend trying them both and deciding which look you like the most.
@dedrie74 Hello there! Yes, we definitely recommend to sit under a dryer as opposed to using flat irons or other straighteners. A great rule of thumb to keep in mind is anything you can't touch to your skin, you shouldn't touch to your hair!
Great Product! I have been using it for a little over a month (conditioner, texture balm, re-moisturizer, style cream
) now and really enjoy it. My only question is I have seen other hair products by Chaz that I don't see advertised on the Wenhaircare site. How do I go about ordering them?
@TheGrandCrusader The only formulations offered by the WENHAIRCARE site are the Sweet Almond Mint and Cucumber Aloe sets. If you wish to contact them, you will need to do so by calling the number listed on their website. I hope this helps!
The one problem i have is when you say "No heat, no curling iron, no gels"
Well im sorry to say but if your using a blow dryer doesn't that mean your using heat?
Your trying to make it look like anyone can achieve this look, all natural, by using these products but clearly the hair cutt, lenght, type and heat all factor into the final result.
@xxmisticmagicxx When we say " no heat, no curling irons," we do not include blow-dryers in this category. Blow-dryers, even when hot, do not become nearly as damaging as flat irons, curling irons or hot combs. When they have nozzles attached, the hot air becomes concentrated, and when keeping the blow-dryer moving constantly, the air will not grow hot enough to burn your hair. However, flat irons, curling irons and etc. heat up to over 400° F and will melt, singe and burn your hair.
@xxmisticmagicxx I think he means no heat that damages your hair. If you use a curling iron or a straightening iron it damages your hair, but a blow-dryer doesn't do that.
@xxmisticmagicxx the title says normal to medium hair. and the length is obvious through the video. obviously if you were to watch this video you'd right away know if it would suit your hair. i dont see how its misleading.
@xxmisticmagicxx It is very true. I use it daily and I sometimes do not even need to style my hair as I just use the style gel and then a brush. That is it. Too good to be true. It is all true. You can see all the reviews online and see it is all true.
Chaz, when I try this technique, I get curl, but it's a little bit frizzy. Any suggestions? Also, do you set the curls with (cold) curlers to make the curls last longer? Thanks!
@loyale2 Hello there! It just takes practice, like most other things! The more you try it, the better you'll get. Also make sure that you are getting ALL of the moisture out, as your hair can tend to frizz if you leave it at all damp in any areas. Another cause for frizz is if you overdry your hair, the ends especially will look dehydrated and frizzy.
LOL! This is so true... I always tell my mother that she's so lucky to have naturally curly hair, even though she doesn't appreciate what she has... All she has to do is wrap her hair around her finger to get perfect curls... On the other hand, I have bone straight fine hair that would never look like this models! *sniffles*
What do you consider to be "medium" hair. I'm caucasian, but every time I go to a salon they always comment about how thick, and how much hair I have. It isn't coarse, just really thick.
One stylist while cutting my hair made the comment "There's more hair on the floor than there is on my head" and we'd only done the bottom half of my hair.
@AmenoKoe Hello there! Then you would have medium hair, or even just thick hair. That generally means you can use any of the formulations and still get great results.
My hair used to look EXACTLY like this models before I had my baby, natural redhead, and I'd say fine to med. It is now dry and frizzy. I am using the sweet almond mint, but I have not noticed it helping with the dry, frizzy and lack of shine. Please help! Also, how long should a 16 oz. bottle last for hair length between my shoulder blades? Mine has only lasted MAYBE a week and a half. I use it as directed. Thanks!
@melindaanne1 Hello there! I would recommend using one of the more moisturizing formulations like the Fig or the Lavender. Also, the bottles last according to hair length and how often you cleanse your hair. I have very long hair also, but I only cleanse my hair once or twice a week so a bottle will last me a longer amount of time. I would also recommend, for hair as long as yours, to try the 32oz size bottle. You will get to use less pumps and it will last longer! I hope this helps.

@melindaanne1 Hello there! It depends on how often you are using it. You might want to try one of the more moisturizing formulations, such as the Lavender or the Fig. Also, how do you style your hair? If you use flat irons or curling irons, that could be why your hair has been looking dull and damaged.
@ralegria16 Really, it just takes practice, practice, practice! The reason the stylists have become so great at doing what they do is because it is a craft they work on every single day. When you give it another shot, try taking out most of the moisture before you start doing the twirl, twirl, twirl technique. While your hair is sopping wet, before using your brush (start with your fingers to create the tension) take out about 75% of the moisture. I hope this helps!
Hello, I have followed these instructions (and all the others) to the letter and cannot get anything using the twirl, twirl, twirl technique. I am using the almond cleansing conditioner and styling gel (2 pumps), and using the correct brush. My hair is about 2 inches below my shoulders and has a natural wave (not curl), it is normal to fine in texture. I cannot even get the results you showed in the fine hair video. Any suggestions? Love your products :-)

hello i just ordered ur products but i have i question can you straighten your hair or curl curl it even if ur using wen? please get back at me thanks
@CeTtEJoLiE do you mean with hot tools such as flat irons or curling irons? You can use our products no matter what styling tools you use, however, you must keep in mind that those tools are very, very damaging and will take away from the benefits the WEN provides.
@apeterman22 It depends on the texture of your hair. You can use any of the formulations as they are all very universal and beneficial. If you have an oily scalp, I'd recommend using the Cucumber Aloe. If your hair is very coarse, then I recommend the Tea Tree.
I am asian and have long straight hair. My hair used to be very think but I have had it recently thinned out with a razor. I use the tea tree cleansing conditioner. I would love to have a fuller look with curls in my hair. Is it possible even if I have such straight hair?
@apeterman22 hello there! as long as you really practice with the blow dryer and the round brush, pretty much anyone can have healthy, bouncy hair! I hope this helps.
I use my flat iron once a week, the day I wash it, I use it on the second highest setting - 390. I have ethnic-relaxed hair. I used it more often but I noticed my top layers getting damaged, is this bad?
@xXRetardKoolaidXx for your hair type, I would use the Fig product line as it is the most moisturizing. The reason your top layer is so damaged is because not only are you damaging your hair with the chemical processes, but you are also melting it with a flat iron. A great thing to keep in mind is, anything you can't touch to your skin, you should never touch to your hair. If you discontinue using the flat iron, your hair will get much healthier, shinier and more manageable!
Chaz...just saw you on QVC again! I learn so much each and every time. I also gained more info on watching your Youtube videos. I had bilateral total knee replacement 6 months ago. Didn't have lots of energy for a while, washing my hair , & getting to my hair stylist to color my hair was difficult.Fortunately for me, I had been using your products several months prior to my surgery. After all the anesthesia & medications my hair remained healthy looking and my color didn't fade. Thanks Chaz!
I have a question..my hair is naturally curly...but dont like the to wear it curly...i love this look...how can achieve this? and also...which one of your products do you recommend? I have color treated/DRY curly hair. Thanks
@ralegria16 if your hair is on the finer side, I recommend using the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner, if it is on the thicker side, I recommend using the Fig Cleansing Conditioner. You'll also want to use one of the Styling Cremes, as those will help to protect your hair from the heat of styling tools and if you wear your hair natural, it will define your curls and eliminate frizz!
Hi, I have thick long wavy (loose curls) hair. I have a lot of hair. It tends to get frizzy. It looks nice when I wash it and let it air dry, but the day after it's a mess! I really want to be able to blow dry it, its really cold in the winter here in NJ, but I can't because it gets frizzy. I want to try your technique. What product do you recommend?
Do you "rough" dry the air first and then when it is almost dry tart using the brush? Also, as you are twirling the hair, do you keep the blow dryer on it? I'd love to see a video of the beginning of your process. Thanks for your help!
Hello there! Yes, you want to try and get most of the moisture out prior to blow-drying with the brush. You keep the blow-dryer on the hair as the brush is rolled up, but when you twirl the brush out, the blow-dryer is not directed at your hair.
I'm very interested in trying your product. I have a lot of premature grey hair with low lights. I have naturally curly hair, medium to thin. I typically straighten it with a metal brush and a flat iron, which I now know is damaging. It can become a bit frizzy in humidity and from the comments that you've replied to, I gather the frizz comes from being dehydrated. Can you suggest the right conditioning cleanser please? Thank you, Sara
For your hair I would suggest using the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner. It is one of our most moisturizing formulations, yet it is also one of our lightest, so it won't weigh down your medium to thin hair!
I have been wanting to try wen for awhile, but i am unsure of which formula would be best for me. I have heard that the sweet almond mint is good for all hair types. I have fine hair and would like some body. Right now I have been using a flat iron everyday and have some hairs that tend to stick straight up due to breakage and I do color treat my hair.
Hello there! In that case, you'll want to try the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner. It is universal like the Sweet Almond Mint but it is more moisturizing. The breakage and hairs that you see sticking up is because of the breakage from the flat iron, and if you continue to use it, it will continue to break. The Lavender is our second most moisturizing and should help to keep your hair healthy, but you must keep in mind, nothing will protect your hair from the damage of a flat iron.
I would suggest getting a round brush, it is the easiest way to achieve curls like these. You also want to make sure it has NO metal on it. Boar Bristle is what we have found to give the best results!
If the blow-dryer has a nozzle, and you are using a brush without metal and continuous movement, it's not. Anything that burns your skin, burns your hair. If you take a blow-dryer with a nozzle and start at one point of your head and move it back and forth along the length of your arm - it doesn't burn.
Hi Chaz, I love your blowouts and am glad you posted this video. I wanted to know what temperature you set the blowdryer on when doing this technique. Thanks.
No! None of the models we have in our instructional DVD, on QVC, or through our infomercial with Guthy Renker use anything in their hair but the WEN Hair & Body Care line by Chaz Dean. I hope this helps!
Hello there! I have never used the Sedu Professional but here at the salon we use SuperSalonos. So long as you are using a blow-dryer with a plastic nozzle attachment, you should get great results regardless. I hope this helps!
Hi, I'm just concerned that once i get it, it might not work for me :(, but I really want to give it a shot. As for hair brushes, I have one that is a porcupine bristle by T3, but I actually don't use it, just because it gets tangled up in my hair. I actually use a Tourmeline hair brush by the same as above. I also have hard water, but we have a water filter, will your cleansing conditioners work with that?
Chaz, I'm a confirmed believer! I have wavy-curly shoulder length Asian hair, plus I color my hair. My ends were so brittle & dry and my color by the 2nd week was brassy. After trying WEN (Fig and TeaTrea are favs), my hair is much manageable. I like to "straighten" my hair when I blow dry, but it never looks like when you do it. I guess I need to use a different round brush - the boar brush as suggested. Will buy and try! Thanks for the great products & tips!
Anything you can't touch to your skin, you should never touch to your hair. Flat irons and curling irons burn, melt and singe your hair until the natural pattern is completely ruined. Blow-dryers with nozzles, and round brushes not made of metal, will not burn your hair if you keep the blow-dryer continuously moving. It should never be held in one place for more than about a second. The Styling Creme will help to protect your hair from the heat, but no, it's not as damaging at all.
I just wanted to say thank you for this product. I am Filipino with coarse/thick hair and all my life (Im 35) Ive struggled with dry scalp and flakes. Ive been hesitant to try your product but I saw a recent QVC special and said, why not? I LOVE IT! Ive used it for 6 consecutive times and NO FLAKES AT ALL! I used shampoo yesterday and sure enough, the flakes came back. Never again! I use the Tea Tree, Lavander and Fig. I dont even use as much as you recommend and it still works well. Thanks!
Just got my 32oz Lavender today! I used it and my hair is about 90% dry now. Still going to have to play around with the exact number of pumps, my hair is past my shoulders. Much softer but still flat... hair is frizzy/wavy/dry... do I need to blowdry it? The only thing I am good at with my hair is the... flat iron! Would love to eventually get to curling it with the brush/blowdryer. Thanks!
I tried Tea Tree (I think it was for coarse hair) for the first time today. I air-dried my hair. I've noticed the texture difference and my hair is more wavy without any product on. However, it is still frizzy. I have extra amount of conditioning cleanser on my hair as a leave-in conditioner (but it doesn't feel oily). Do I have to blow-dry in order to reduce the frizz?
Hello there! If your hair still looks a little dehydrated/frizzy after letting it dry, it simply means you can increase the amount of leave-in conditioner you are using. This will give you the moisture and hydration that you need to keep from frizzing. I hope this helps!
Not with relaxed hair, you can get a straight look, however. Relaxed hair is very, very dry and dehydrated. If you want to be able to get curl like this with a blow-dryer and a brush, you need to get your hair as healthy as possible. This means to resist using hot tools like curling irons and flat irons, as well as attempting to resist getting chemical processes on your hair. You will notice the texture of your hair changes with the use of this product, and it will get healthier.
Chaz thank you so much for this video. I purchased the discovery kit from QVC and I have been using the lavandar conditioner. I have curly frizzy past shoulder hair. I have a lot of baby strands that stick up. How can I keep them down? I lost a lot of hair after I had a baby and when I flat iron it straight, I look like I have bald spots. I heard that your product causes less hair loss in the shower. Thank you for this video. I will practice.
To tame frizz/fly aways, I would suggest trying the Sweet Almond Mint Texture Balm. It is like a pomade, and after your hair has been styled, all you have to do is swipe it across your palm and quickly pet it over the unruly hair to keep it under control.
For your hair type, you would use the Fig Cleansing Conditioner, the Fig Bath, Body & Hair Oil, as well as the Fig Styling Creme. The Fig is our most moisturizing, which works great for your type of hair. It will give you the hydration you need to really define your hair texture and pattern without drying it out. It will be soft, touchable, and manageable. Just wait until our instructional DVD comes out, one of our models has an afro and can comb through her hair while it is wet! Amazing.
Hello there! Sorry for the delay in response, but you would use the same products I suggested. Try to refrain from using flat irons or hot combs, and instead use a blow-dryer with a nozzle and either a round brush or a paddle brush that have no metal in them. As your hair gets healthier, it will be easier and easier to get a straight, smooth blow-dry without using hot tools. I hope this helps!
Chaz Dean need to create a Hair Line fro afro texture hair - Because the thing he talk about would work wonders on afro hair - His cleanser is perfect for afro hair - We would need a cleanser with olive oil fro dry hair but his way of doing thing would work perfect for us

@xxmisticmagicxx I think he means no heat that damages your hair. If you use a curling iron or a straightening iron it damages your hair, but a blow-dryer doesn't do that.
Goaliewiz1 9 months ago
@xxmisticmagicxx the title says normal to medium hair. and the length is obvious through the video. obviously if you were to watch this video you'd right away know if it would suit your hair. i dont see how its misleading.
xSkyMachinex 4 months ago
@xxmisticmagicxx It is very true. I use it daily and I sometimes do not even need to style my hair as I just use the style gel and then a brush. That is it. Too good to be true. It is all true. You can see all the reviews online and see it is all true.

@2boyslater You can use this technique on any type of cut to get bounce/body.

Chaz, when I try this technique, I get curl, but it's a little bit frizzy. Any suggestions? Also, do you set the curls with (cold) curlers to make the curls last longer? Thanks!
loyale2 1 year ago

*sniffles*
EnergyDelight 1 year ago
What do you consider to be "medium" hair. I'm caucasian, but every time I go to a salon they always comment about how thick, and how much hair I have. It isn't coarse, just really thick.
One stylist while cutting my hair made the comment "There's more hair on the floor than there is on my head" and we'd only done the bottom half of my hair.
AmenoKoe 1 year ago
@AmenoKoe Hello there! Then you would have medium hair, or even just thick hair. That generally means you can use any of the formulations and still get great results.

My hair used to look EXACTLY like this models before I had my baby, natural redhead, and I'd say fine to med. It is now dry and frizzy. I am using the sweet almond mint, but I have not noticed it helping with the dry, frizzy and lack of shine. Please help! Also, how long should a 16 oz. bottle last for hair length between my shoulder blades? Mine has only lasted MAYBE a week and a half. I use it as directed. Thanks!
melindaanne1 1 year ago

How do I achieve this look if I have naturally curly hair? I like the big body and looser curls in this video. thanks
ralegria16 1 year ago
@ralegria16 Really, it just takes practice, practice, practice! The reason the stylists have become so great at doing what they do is because it is a craft they work on every single day. When you give it another shot, try taking out most of the moisture before you start doing the twirl, twirl, twirl technique. While your hair is sopping wet, before using your brush (start with your fingers to create the tension) take out about 75% of the moisture. I hope this helps!
wenbychazdean 1 year ago
Hello, I have followed these instructions (and all the others) to the letter and cannot get anything using the twirl, twirl, twirl technique. I am using the almond cleansing conditioner and styling gel (2 pumps), and using the correct brush. My hair is about 2 inches below my shoulders and has a natural wave (not curl), it is normal to fine in texture. I cannot even get the results you showed in the fine hair video. Any suggestions? Love your products :-)

@CeTtEJoLiE do you mean with hot tools such as flat irons or curling irons? You can use our products no matter what styling tools you use, however, you must keep in mind that those tools are very, very damaging and will take away from the benefits the WEN provides.

What type of cleansing conditioner do you reccommend for those with the very straight asian type of hair?
apeterman22 1 year ago
@apeterman22 It depends on the texture of your hair. You can use any of the formulations as they are all very universal and beneficial. If you have an oily scalp, I'd recommend using the Cucumber Aloe. If your hair is very coarse, then I recommend the Tea Tree.
wenbychazdean 1 year ago
I am asian and have long straight hair. My hair used to be very think but I have had it recently thinned out with a razor. I use the tea tree cleansing conditioner. I would love to have a fuller look with curls in my hair. Is it possible even if I have such straight hair?
apeterman22 1 year ago
@apeterman22 hello there! as long as you really practice with the blow dryer and the round brush, pretty much anyone can have healthy, bouncy hair! I hope this helps.

I use my flat iron once a week, the day I wash it, I use it on the second highest setting - 390. I have ethnic-relaxed hair. I used it more often but I noticed my top layers getting damaged, is this bad?
Also which formula would be best for me?
xXRetardKoolaidXx 2 years ago

Hello Chaz,
I have a question..my hair is naturally curly...but dont like the to wear it curly...i love this look...how can achieve this? and also...which one of your products do you recommend? I have color treated/DRY curly hair. Thanks
ralegria16 2 years ago
@ralegria16 if your hair is on the finer side, I recommend using the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner, if it is on the thicker side, I recommend using the Fig Cleansing Conditioner. You'll also want to use one of the Styling Cremes, as those will help to protect your hair from the heat of styling tools and if you wear your hair natural, it will define your curls and eliminate frizz!
wenbychazdean 1 year ago
Hi, I have thick long wavy (loose curls) hair. I have a lot of hair. It tends to get frizzy. It looks nice when I wash it and let it air dry, but the day after it's a mess! I really want to be able to blow dry it, its really cold in the winter here in NJ, but I can't because it gets frizzy. I want to try your technique. What product do you recommend?

@amanecer006 for your hair type I would stick to the Fig product line as it is the most moisturizing. I hope this helps!

Do you "rough" dry the air first and then when it is almost dry tart using the brush? Also, as you are twirling the hair, do you keep the blow dryer on it? I'd love to see a video of the beginning of your process. Thanks for your help!
cahunt18 2 years ago
Hello there! Yes, you want to try and get most of the moisture out prior to blow-drying with the brush. You keep the blow-dryer on the hair as the brush is rolled up, but when you twirl the brush out, the blow-dryer is not directed at your hair.
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
Chaz-
I'm very interested in trying your product.
80sarahope 2 years ago
Hello Sara!
For your hair I would suggest using the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner. It is one of our most moisturizing formulations, yet it is also one of our lightest, so it won't weigh down your medium to thin hair!
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
I have been wanting to try wen for awhile, but i am unsure of which formula would be best for me. I have heard that the sweet almond mint is good for all hair types. I have fine hair and would like some body. Right now I have been using a flat iron everyday and have some hairs that tend to stick straight up due to breakage and I do color treat my hair.
lynnctodd 2 years ago
Hello there! In that case, you'll want to try the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner. It is universal like the Sweet Almond Mint but it is more moisturizing. The breakage and hairs that you see sticking up is because of the breakage from the flat iron, and if you continue to use it, it will continue to break. The Lavender is our second most moisturizing and should help to keep your hair healthy, but you must keep in mind, nothing will protect your hair from the damage of a flat iron.

Hey, I love the idea of the curls, What should I do, If I dont have a curling brush should I do it with another type of brush?
xHanna7colax 2 years ago
I would suggest getting a round brush, it is the easiest way to achieve curls like these. You also want to make sure it has NO metal on it. Boar Bristle is what we have found to give the best results!
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
it looks really nice, but if you put the blow dryer on high heat it is still damaging to your hair.
maudk123 2 years ago
If the blow-dryer has a nozzle, and you are using a brush without metal and continuous movement, it's not. Anything that burns your skin, burns your hair. If you take a blow-dryer with a nozzle and start at one point of your head and move it back and forth along the length of your arm - it doesn't burn.
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
Hi Chaz, I love your blowouts and am glad you posted this video. I wanted to know what temperature you set the blowdryer on when doing this technique. Thanks.

hotmom74 2 years ago

Thanks for the great products & tips!

love the look but wouldnt it still be considered using heat cuz a blowdryer can get hot.?
and dont you have to put in a heat protectant?
qweaz987 2 years ago

Thanks!
scubaahood 2 years ago
If I can ask, how many pumps of the 32oz were you using to cleanse? And how many as a leave-in? Please let me know so that I can assist you!
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
I tried Tea Tree (I think it was for coarse hair) for the first time today. I air-dried my hair. I've noticed the texture difference and my hair is more wavy without any product on. However, it is still frizzy. I have extra amount of conditioning cleanser on my hair as a leave-in conditioner (but it doesn't feel oily). Do I have to blow-dry in order to reduce the frizz?
ji94552 2 years ago
Hello there! If your hair still looks a little dehydrated/frizzy after letting it dry, it simply means you can increase the amount of leave-in conditioner you are using. This will give you the moisture and hydration that you need to keep from frizzing. I hope this helps!
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
yeah....no offense...but,you cant do that with black relaxed hair. or can you/we?
unowhothisbe 2 years ago

MakeupandHandbags 2 years ago
To tame frizz/fly aways, I would suggest trying the Sweet Almond Mint Texture Balm. It is like a pomade, and after your hair has been styled, all you have to do is swipe it across your palm and quickly pet it over the unruly hair to keep it under control.
wenbychazdean 2 years ago
