If you've seen family guys take on Creationism, you'd see how dumb and stupid it is. If only Christopher Hitchens was still alive, he'd still be slapping creationists arses.
Since Dawkins & his Marxist minions want to destroy religion altogether, will the next step will be to destroy all the believers as well? Will Christians, Jews, Moslems & Hindus be rounded up like we were in Russia, China & many other countries too? Censorship lead to genocide in those cases.
It isn't about non-religious people being irrational deniers of a superior intelligence as a beginning of the unleashed reactions that gave way to the universe and everything related to the physical & biological. This 'intelligent energy' could or could not exist. The problem is believing in an anthropomorhic (Santa Claus style) dude that listens to us, directly related to everyday events. The evidence is contrary to this.
@ZEDSTODT Thing is..i don't have to prove it.The burden of proof is on the one making the positive claim.
If i said that there were microscopic invisible, untouchable super lizards living in my intestine , it would not be your duty to prove me wrong. It would be mine to prove myself right.
And yes , the lack of extraordinary evidence allows you to dismiss any possibilities of the super lizard
@ogaogaboogamba If you made the time to go through the prophecies & compare them to historical events then you might see some tangible evidence of Gods plan being revealed. However I suspect that youre a fanatic with a closed mind that is already made up so it probably wont happen. You may return to your puny lizard now.
@ZEDSTODT let me explain my position to you in a way you can understand.
Basically, i am a lungfish, i creep boldly from the darkness of the blackest ocean, onto the shores of discovery along with my thousands of brethren, leaving the millions of seacreatures behind, ignorant with lidless eyes, forever doomed despite their eternal vigilance.
I want you to leave the ocean behind and come with me. Because i feel sorry for you, that you will never see the land beyond darkness.
@PuNkDzZz Can you raise the dead? Or cure all disease? Or reverse the aging process? No? It is you who are marooned under oceans of darkness, doomed to oblivion, not I. God will raise us from the grave if you would only believe;
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
@ZEDSTODT The problem is that this is based on some religious dogma from the bronze age, wich is split into different dogma's, of different dogma's, of different dogma's, cant you see how incredibly vague your religion seems when its not even consistant?
On a completely different note, why would you believe anything on faith? Why isnt god down here zapping people with lighting bolts left and right? That would cirtainly remove all doubt of his existence.
@PuNkDzZz I have no doubts of His existence at all. Why do you? Why is it so important to prove physical "evidence" anyway? There are scientific grounds to interpret evidence for His existence. Beside the philosophical fact that this life is a test of loyalty to God in the first place. Read the Gospels of John & Matthew to start out. As for a demonstration of bolts from the sky, what makes you think He hasnt? Just because nobody told you about it doesnt invalidate anything. Read Ezekiel 10.
@Yahweigh Youre not stating any such thing. Youre only wallowing about in the mud & chewing your cud. In the meantime we demand our rights to explore God without persecutions, infringements, chicanery, hostility & NeoMarxist aggression attempting to squelch our freedom to express our interpretation.
I approve your right to explore any religion, spirituality, magic prayers ect... because i am liberal and i want everyone to have any liberty that doesnt cause the suffering of others.
However, i will always point out that somthing appears false or ridiculous to me and i will not give up my freedom of speech just because it might offend someone.
Freedom of speech is also the freedom to offend and if you dont like freedom of speech then kindly shut up.
@Yahweigh Christians arent imposing Communist "hate speech" codes here, Leftist fanatics like Gloria Allred are & if you support her along with the DNC campaign to penalize speech then youre equally complicit. Jerks in the ACLU & ADL demand fines & imprisonment for politically incorrect speech here. They should be indicted for subverting the Constitution & the question I have is why arent liberals trying to stop them??!
@ZEDSTODT ive never even heard of them and if hate speech is quoting the bible and saying why one believes it to be bad/wrong then anything that offends is hate speech.
@Yahweigh The notion that people are to be jailed for something as arbitrary as the concept of so-called "hate speech" is a Communist edict & is anti-Constitutional in the US. Youve never heard of the Democratic National Committee or the ACLU or ADL in the US before. Get educated. Theyre attempting to destroy or freedom.
@Yahweigh Oh of course youre a political expert arent you. There is no Communist Party. There were no atrocities, there is no Communist China where censorship is the rule, there is no Communist North korea where millions have been brutalized, there are no radicals anywhere trying to monopolize power & take control. its all just a so-called "dictator conspiracy". You must be on crack.
@Yahweigh Take the crack pipe out of your mouth & crawl back into your pen. So-called "Communism" is all about class warfare & dictatorship. Its sole purpose was designed to incite civil wars & divide society into perpetual factionalized adversaries and destroy Western civilization. Its proponents were Christian-hating radicals who demand complete control of everyones lives & they havent given up yet. This is why clowns like Dawkins expend grossly inordinate amounts of time attacking us.
treatments for the in-balance should be available to the general public rich poor and wealthy. We should improve our efforts in creating a chemical balance in the brain. This way we knoe the human being is functioning under normal conditions.
God noes homosexuality is not normal. It was not part of his plan of creation. Yes i do think is a hormonal in-balance therefore i cant judge them. A judge cant sent to prison a man that kills because he has mental problems . they actually send them to a mental hospital. I guess there is a chemical in-balance in a psychopath. It bring him pleasure to kill therefore pleasure shouldn't be an excuse for right. I think if there is an inbalance rather than accepting it we should find a cure
the bible never talks about how you should have sex. it only states homosexuality as something not accepted by God. The bible never actually says there is a hell either. God wont punish us in such a way he is love. God loves us just like a father wouldn't burn his child for eating too much candy. the father advises him eating too much candy although it tastes good is bad for your teeth and health. we cant lead lives based on only seeking pleasure.
As my father once said to me, It is very hard to believe in something that you cannot SEE. This argument will go on forever as both sides need proof. The most interesting person is one who was an athiest and has changed sides. I personally believe in a creator and that is just my opionion.
God does not equal religion. God remains the same, regardless of what either lying ass fundamentalists or lying ass atheists say about God. Those who bring up religion or what religious people do in discussions about God very clearly demonstrate they are of poor and rudimentary education at best, regardless of how many ivory degrees are attached to their name. It is intellectually immature to compare God and religion in the same discussion or, the same universe.
@VesusSheist God, by definition, is Whoever created the universe. Like Einstein and the authors of the Bible both said, we don't understand God very well, as quite obviously a microbe can't understand a human being very well and God is far greater in comparison to us, than we are to microbe. Nevertheless, we can understand what God wants in relation to ud, because we have a shared human conscience which reflects God's law "written on the hearts of humanity". Atheists just deny the evidence.
@richardaberdeen "Nevertheless, we can understand what God wants in relation to us, because we have a shared human conscience which reflects God's law "written on the hearts of humanity"
Probably the most vague response I've ever heard from a theist. How do you know any of this? Because it sounds like you're just making it up as you go along. You claim that we can't understand god, and then in the next sentence you claim to understand god's law. It's absurd.
@VesusSheist Basic laws against murder, adultery, theft and fasle witness are spread universally in civilization history as are similar and sometimes virtually indential "golden rules", often in non-connected diverse cultures. As Jefferson stated in the Declaration and modern DNA expert Francis Collins has noted, this clearly demonstrates design and not random processes. Tell me a modern so-called "advanced" society where murder and theft are "good" and then I'll agree with you & Dawkins.
@richardaberdeen Here you are again on another page spouting your bullshit. Why do you think that Dawkins and atheists want a society where murder and theft are good? How do you explain Sweden, it has one of the lowest crime rates, is one of the healthiest countries, and 85% of Sweden doesnt believe in a god. Explain that? actually im sre you'll explain it in some crazy deluted way.
@VesusSheist As the grand liars of all liars Dawkins has publicly written himself, the universe is just as how we would expect if there is no God, "representing nothing but blind, pitiless indifference". If this is true, then why do modern so-called advanced societies claim to ascribe to a Declaration of Human Rights, why do similar laws universally appear along with similar golden rules? How can Rosa Parks, MLK, Schweitzer and Gandhi exist in such a universe of "blind pitiless indiffernce"?
@richardaberdeen Yes the universe and nature show blind pitiless indifference. Ask the people in Joplin, Mo., the town who saw nearly two hundred people die from tornados, or Hurricane Katrina victims. Your talking about humanity, something that mean a lot to us, and nothing to the universe
@richardaberdeen Why? Because we treat one another with love and respect (or at least some of the time) and we believe that we should never hurt another human. The universe does show blind pitiless indifference, I mean the universe doesnt care that 99.99% of the planets in the universe are too toxic, too cold, or too hot to support life. The universe didnt care that life went almost extinct on the earth several times in our history. The universe doesnt care that animals die all the time on earth
@turretsCanada You have no idea what kind of life exists on other planets. According to some scientists, gas giants like Jupiter, which are abundant in the universe, could well harbor methane and/or hydrogen based life forms that hover in the atmosphere and need no solid surface to exist. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN THE UNIVERSE, SO STOP LYING.
@richardaberdeen We have no idea what kind of life or how much life is in the universe. We have no idea if there is much life where there is no such thing as murder, theft, rape and deliberate lies and rather, all of life peacefully co-exists on an abundant of planets. We don't know at all what is in the universe. We do know that both oxygen and methane based life forms are on our own, clearly demonstrating life may well be abundant in the universe and life forms far more loving than we are.
@turretsCanada And, we don't at all treat each other with love and respect. If we did, then scientists wouldn't be creating WMDs, bio weapons and polluting the fragile home of our children to kingdom come. Who are you trying to kid? There is no evidence whatsoever that human beings are any more moral than we were in Babylon and ancient Egypt. According to many historians, more people died from violence in the 20th Century than in all previous centuries combined?
@turretsCanada Here's a little thought exercise for you that you probably have never bothered to consider. We live in three physical dimensions plus time. According to most scientists, the universe has between 6 and 11 or more dimensions. Suppose there really isn't a lot of mainly empty space like appears to us but rather, there is a lot of other life and stuff out there in different dimensions that we can't detect. According to the Bible there is. YOU DON'T KNOW AND, NEITHER DOES DAWKINS.
@richardaberdeen Yes I admit that I do not know, any Dawkins probably doesnt know either. But the thing is, we dont bother with things we cant detect. We cant see, smell, touch, taste, or hear it, and it doesnt affect us in any way, therefore we assume nothing is there (or whatever is, isnt of any importance). These things fall into the same category as god. Perhaps there is one, but since we cant detect him (or her, i never knew the gender of god) he is of no importance to our lives.
@turretsCanada No, atheists pretend the universe magically appeared all by itself, which requires far more faith than I have. The universe is my evidence for God. Where is your evidence for universes magically appearing all by themselves? Bullshitter.
@VesusSheist Problem with liars like Dawkins is, they invariably open mouth and insert foot and thus, are easily debunked by anyone who has studied philosophy, history or science 1-A. Those who have know the universe doesn't represent "nothing but blind pitiless indifference"; the Greek Acadamey would laugh Dawkins to scorn and ban him for life for comparing God to the spaghetti monster, by virtue of the fact if one eliminates the SM, they don't have to explain their own existence.Dawkins=Liar.
@richardaberdeen Dawkings compares god to the flying spaghetti monster because we cannot prove that either of them exists (however we cant prove that they dont exist). We cannot see, smell, touch, taste or hear god and we cannot see, smell, touch, taste or hear the FSM. At least the FSM promises spaghetti, while god is just some random guy who says, "If you dont believe in me, you burn for all eternity" (lol rhyme accidentally)
@turretsCanada No, Dawkins has said several time he neither believes in God or the spaghetti monster, clearly equating the two, which any Greek philosopher would laught to scorn before banning him for life from the Academy. No self-respecting scholar would want their children taught by such an elementary-school mind. It is completely and entirely irrational to compare God with anything else, as God by definition is the Creator of the Universe. Dawkins = obviousl liar.
@richardaberdeen Is it not fair to equate the two? Neither can be detected by humans. There is no proof of either supernatural being. Neither can be disproved. They do seem very similar, and to compare the two is very logical. And again, there is no proof that god created the universe. We cannot disprove that, but there is no proof in favor or it.
@turretsCanada Bullshit. God helps me every day and I have been aware of God's presence in my life since high school. Anybody can find evidence for God, all they have to do is ask Jesus to forgive them for being a sinner and of course, they have to mean it. Atheists have a difficult time with the obvious fact that they are no better than the rest of us. We can't deserve God, that's why Jesus died. If we were already good, there would be no murder, adultery, false witness, theft or war.
@richardaberdeen Wow. Lots of stuff to answer to. Ok 1. Athiests do not pretend the universe magically appeared. We actually say we do not know, but we are working towards an answer. You, on the other hand, say "Damn, I don't know where it came from, and im too lazy to work for an answer. Therefore a magical being in the sky MUSTVE done it.
Again, we do not rely on magic. As I stated, scientists have only ideas on how life formed on earth. Perhaps a combination of several chemicals to form some sort of genetic molecule, or strands of nucleic acids something that could catalyze some chemical reactions, something that had the blueprint for its own reproduction.
@turretsCanada What there is no proof for is magically appearing universes. It takes a lot of blind belief faith to be an atheist, while it doesn't take any to believe in God. I understand the basic laws of physics, as for example, motion requires Primary Cause. Where is you evidence for motion magically arising all by itself? According to science, nothing in the universe is static and as such, there is no such thing as random motion or, random anything else. Where is your EVIDENCE???
@turretsCanada Where is your evidence for intelligence arising from non-intelligence, conscious awareness arising from non-conscious bits of stuff, zillions of parts within parts magically putting themselves together. Where is your EVIDENCE? The universe is my evidence for God, where is your EVIDENCE for no God? Bullshitter.
@richardaberdeen The universe is not evidence for god, as there is no proof, whatsoever, that a supernatural being created the universe. Please understand that. Also, just because god "helps" you and you are "aware" of his presence, doesnt mean that he exists. The same could be said about Zeus, Ra, Thor, FSW, goblins, unicorns, the big bad wolf. And because there is no proof that god exists (neither the bible NOR the universe count) we must be skeptical that he exists.
@turretsCanada Scientists have all manner of bullshit theories how and where life arose and, none of them agree with each other. Some claim it began in fresh water, in caves, under the earth, in plain dirt, some claim life can arise almost anywhere there is any wetness. Dawkins has no idea at all if life arose from a singular source in the ocean--he just pretends blind faith gross asumptions are science. Life arose from all over the earth according to the Bible, which is most likely true.
@richardaberdeen Do you not even know what science is? Scientists all have different ideas and it is through rigorous testing, scrutiny and improvement, that certain ideas become theories. ONCE AGAIN, scientists do not know for sure how life arose, but they are working to find out. That is why there are many different hypotheses. And what proof is there that life arose from all over the earth. Just cuz the bible says so, is not a valid argument.
@turretsCanada A non-creationist molecular biologist state on PBS last year it is irrational to pretend that science will ever have a legitimate theory of evolution or any other theory of life. This is because life is irreducibly complexly integrated at virus and lower levels (i.e., atomic/subatomic). Viruses are much smaller than microbes and they are only poorly understood at best, yet they are the vast majority of life. For all we know, a similar thing to a virus arrived on space rocks.
@richardaberdeen Yes perhaps, and that is another theory. And please send me a link to this article. AND ONCE AGAIN, life arriving on space rocks DOES NOT prove there is a god. And if scientists don't find a reasonable answer to this complex question it DOES NOT mean that god did it.
@turretsCanada I know what science is. First there is evidence, then there is science. This is the opposite of atheism, which pretends there is no God, yet has no legitimate explantion for the universal evidence. Atheism is the opposite of science and always will be. First there is a creator, then there is a computer, not the other way around, which is what atheism pretends. If nobody designed the human brain, then computers magically arose all by themselves. Athesim = irrational bullshit.
@richardaberdeen Jesus christ. We DO NOT pretend there is not god. However, there is no proof of god, therefore we do not think he exists. Atheists do not believe in god because there is not evidence. Something happens, and science tries to explain it looking at the evidence, and trying to recreate this event with an experiment. FAITH is the opposite of science. Believing in something when there is absolutely no evidence.
@turretsCanada Methane-based creatures live near deep ocean vents. This opens up a whole new world of probability of life arising from more than one source and of life being abundant in the universe. Dawkins and other Darwinists continue to believe in a simplistic outdated "evolutionary tree" model that some scientists have already discarded. A top NASA scientist believes life arrived on space rocks. Life may have been "seeded" all over the earth and be irreducibly complexly integrated.
@richardaberdeen Please show me a link that says that evolution has been disproved. As for life arriving on space rocks, that is another theory on how life began on earth. Just like how theres a theory of 1 simple organism starting it all. As for these methane-based life forms, thats another theory and has NOTHING to do with god.
You are saying, "The existence of the universe proves God's existence. Something had to create the universe. Science has no explanation for the universe's creation. Therefore, God created it.". That, is something that the Greeks would really laugh at. Do you understand that just because theory A is wrong, it doesnt mean that theory B is correct.
@turretsCanada Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and the vast majority of the historical Greeks ALL believed in God, as did DaVinci, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Darwin, Einstein, Descartes, Rousseau, Voltaire, Jefferson, Paine, Locke, Tolstoy, Gandhi, Schweitzer, Keller, Parks, King, Chavez and a host of others. I don't think it is me the Greeks would be laughing at.
@richardaberdeen Keller & Gandhi definitly did not believe in the god of the bible. Also, until the last hundred years or so, anyone who was athiest would face prosecution and often death. This little punishment for not believing in god led many people to believe in god, and most athiests do pretend to do so.
@turretsCanada Gandhi thought highly of Jesus as did Einstein. Keller quoted Jesus and claimed to believe in Jesus. There is no such thing as "the God of the Bible" as opposed to any other God. Like Jesus said, "before Abraham was I AM". That explains the observable reality; you and Dawkins continue to fall, as the Bible says, rather "short". There is no scientist who can make a BETTER postulate for science than "I AM", the ultimate historical postulate. No one can beat God, good luck...
@turretsCanada Dawkins also said, the universe is exactly as one would expect if there is no God and represents "nothing but blind pitiless indifference". This is another obvious boneheaded juvenhile deliquent mistake in elementary logic any Greek scholar would laught to scorn. Socrates, Jesus, Gandhi, Schweitzer, MLK and Parks alone overwhelmingly prove the universe represents far more than blind pitiless indifference. Dawkins = lying ass boneheaded blowhard.
@richardaberdeen Jesus, please explain why it is boneheaded. Calling people names isnt enough. If listing these names proves that there is love in the universe, because some of these people were good (I do not know why you put jesus on there), then you are mistaken. The universe represents blind pitiless indifference. Even though the universe is enormous, the only confirmed live on any planet is Earth. There could be life on others, but so far, we have confirmed any other planet to have life.
@turretsCanada The people I listed all claimed to believe in God and demonstrated a great deal of love for their own society. There are great people all over the historical map who did great things for humanity who claimed God to be a big part of their life. Newton's primary living biographer said on PBS if Newton hadn't believed in God, he probably would never have been a scientist; same is true about Einstein according to Einstein himself. Dawkins just invents fiction and pretends it's true.
@richardaberdeen No, Gandhi was an incredible man, but he was Hindu.
There were many great athiests as well.
The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." - Abraham Lincoln "Religion is comparable to a childhood neurosis." - Sigmund Freud
"Fear is the parent of cruelty; therefore it is no wonder if religion and cruelty have gone hand-in-hand." - Bertrand Russell
@turretsCanada And the reason I call people like Dawkins bullshitters, is because they are a clear and present danger to our planet and every living thing on it. They are spreading lies all over the world and children are being taught that there is no God who will help them clean up the WMD's and global mass pollution created by lying ass atheist scientists like Dawkins. Dawkins pretends science can save us without God's help, completely ignoring the war machine track record of science.
@turretsCanada Like I said, Dawkins = obvious bullshitter. If the universe represents "nothing but blind pitiless indifference", there would be no human conscience, no concept of human rights, no ethics classes taught at his own Oxford U. All that exists would be dog-eat-dog people worse than HItler and we would long ago have murdered ourselves into extinction. That is what nothing but blind pitiless indifference equals. Dawkins = obvious liar, a grand liar of liars.
@turretsCanada And about confirmed life, you were the one making all manner of bullshit claims about life not existing on 99.99% of planets, not me. I never said one way or the other because I try to be honest and I don't make bullshit claims that aren't backed up by any evidence, such as "disbelief" in God, the most bullshit claim ever made in the history of bullshit claims. You and Dawkins make all kinds of erroneous claims that have no foundation in evidence.
@richardaberdeen Do you not understand that god is the biggest bullshit claim ever made in the history of bullshit claims. He is supposed to be responsible for the creation of the universe, miracles, morals, whatever BUT
God has never left any physical evidence of his existence on earth.
@turretsCanada Bullshit. The earth IS physical evidence for God, just like my brain, my eyeballs and everything else in what science arbitrarily calls the "natural" world is evidence for God. What there is no evidence for, is a conclusion of no God. If there is no Creator, then provide evidence as I've already requested. Where is your evidence of motion arising from non motion, intelligence from non intelligence, etc. You make bullshit claims that have no foundation in evidence.
@richardaberdeen No, no, no. I say once again. We do not know how life first arose, or motion, or the universe. HOWEVER, this DOES NOT mean that god exists. IT IS NOT evidence for gods existance.
@turretsCanada PRIMARY CAUSE. "BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM" SATISFIES PRIMARY CAUSE. NOTHING ELSE IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY SATISFIES PRIMARY CAUSE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, YOU CAN'T BEAT GOD. YOU SHOULD READ THE WORDS OF JESUS BECAUSE HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. YOU CAN'T BEAT GOD AND, YOU NEVER WILL.
@richardaberdeen Yes I admit I cannot "beat" god, he is impossible to prove false. But I put him in the same category as Zeus, Ra, Thor, Allah, as well as leprechauns, FSM, goblins, dragons, minotaur, etc, etc. No proof for any of them but impossible to prove false. At least the FSW is nicer than god, seeing as how the bible (word of god) permits genocide, slavery, murder, etc, etc. "The religion of one age is the literary entertainment of the next"
@richardaberdeen What makes god exempt from this rule? And by your logic, I could say, " Before the FSM was, the flying noodle monster IS" That just satisfied primary cause. Seeing as how you say god does not need a primary cause, I could say the flying noodle moster does not need a primary cause, or perhaps a giant teapot, or a bar of soap. You could insert anything at all into that sentence and none of those things can be disproved.
@turretsCanada Sorry, I don't believe in magically appearing universes, magically appearing intelligence from non-intelligence, magically appearing laws of physics, magically appearing processes of evolution, magically appearing santa clauses, tooth faires, spaghetti monsters and magically appearing little green men from Mars like Hitchens. Sorry, atheism requires way too much blind faith for me to believe. Atheism = Total Bullshit.
@richardaberdeen I do not believe magically appearing universes, magically appearing intelligence from non-intelligence, magically appearing laws of physics, magically appearing processes of evolution, magically appearing santa clauses, tooth faires, spaghetti monsters and magically appearing little green men from Mars like Hitchens but Ill add one more thing. I do not believe in some guy in the sky who created everything, knows what im doing, where i am, and cares about me.
@richardaberdeen I also do not believe that this hypothetical man in the sky can choose to send us to an amazing place after we die, or send us to some hole in the ground where we burn forever. Now. Science has NEVER SAID that intelligence magically appeared, or the laws of physics were just there, evolution has nothing to do with magic, genes dont copy perfectly, the mutations can change things, better mutations are more likely to be passed down, worse mutations die off.
@richardaberdeen Also, belief in god is EQUAL to santa clauses, tooth fairies, s.m., little green men because, (jesus ive repeated this so many times), there is absolutely no evidence for any of those things (and god falls into the same category) but you cannot prove that any of those things do not exist. I personally do not believe in any of them (including god) because there is not evidence that points to the contrary.
@richardaberdeen Also, you use the bible, again, as proof even though it is not. The bible is just a book of fairytales, some good, but there are many innaccuracies and factual errors in the bible as well as passages with very immoral messages (slavery is good. Murder is fine, etc.)
coppit.org/god/contradictions.php That will probably explain them better than I.
Also, we do not know any authors of the bible, nor find the place it was written, nor know the time it was written.
@turretsCanada What is true remains true. This is true regardless of what kind of book it is in or, how old the book is. You seem to have a problem with reality, which doesn't surprise me. What is true remains true, whether it is in a book called Harry Potter or, a book called Dawkins Dipshit Superstition Posing as Science.
@richardaberdeen Please do not say something like, "The errors are all due to translation errors" or, "We misinterpret the word of god" or, "God is too divine and we humans will never be able to understand his power". Or whatever other excuse you can think of. I want you to tell me why the bible can be considered a reliable source of information considering we dont know how many people wrote the bible, who wrote it, where it was written or when it was written.
@turretsCanada Sorry, folks, my time is limited and I am off to greener pastures. I feel sorry for atheists because Jesus wants to help them for free and instead of lying down in green pastures, they are left wallowing in their own bullshit. You might wish to consider the science of "bottomless pit" black holes containing a "sea of fire" (source; Neil Tyson) carefully. The Bible describes this type undiscovered until 1990's precisely as modern science does; You think Jesus is wrong ???
@richardaberdeen You say we are wallowing in our bullshit, when the bible is probably the biggest load of bullshit ever. If by bullshit, you mean the theories we were talking about, (origin of life/universe/motion/whatever), I dont know why you would say theyre bullshit, seeing as your expanation for all these things is "god". Please write how the bible describes this type of black hole, as well as how science desbribes them. Ive never seen the bible talk about black holes.
@turretsCanada Oh I see, so loving our neighbor as ourself is just a bullshit idea. Or, how about you will know the truth and the truth will set you free, just another bullshit idea? How about if we lay down our swords, this will take care of a little problem called "war" that seems to keep recurring in spite of a so-called "enlightenment", just another bullshit idea, right? How about it is best for society if we don't murder, steal or deliberately lie. Yeah, sure, as if you have better ideas.
@richardaberdeen By the way, I do not need your sympathy. I do not give a shit about who jesus was, or what he did, because most of whats written about him is bullshit anyways (such as ressurection). Athiests will never believe in jesus, because theres no point to believe that he was the son of god and did all sorts of impossible feats and theres NO EVIDENCE. If you consider the bible saying something being equal to jesus saying something, then perhaps, i have seen black holes in the bible.
@turretsCanada That's obvious, you don't care about what is true but rather, you are just trying to defend atheism, which is like pissing up a rope, only infinitely more useless.
@KevinBreuninger According to Tyson, a certain type of black hole, which as the Bible describes, resides in outer darkness, contains an inner event horizon "sea of fire", consisting of stars formerly all around it, that have now disappeared and thus, it resides in "dark voids" in space. This is what he said and, it agrees precisely with what the Bible says, unless you want to argue that "lake of fire" is somehow different than "sea of fire"; Britannica calls it a "bottomless pit", same as Bible
@turretsCanada I don't make any excuses for the Bible; regardless of how right or wrong the Bible may be, this has no relevance to the existence of God. The universe is evidence for God, just as your responses are evidence that atheists are bullshitters, afraid of the obvious fact that Eternal Creator satisfies origins and they can't.
@turretsCanada Oh I see, so if I was to land on earth from another part of the universe and, I was to look at a computer for the first time and otherwise have no knowledge of them, then it would be totally rational and reasonable for me to say: No, no, no, We do not know how computers first arose, or the parts, or the casing and screen. HOWEVER, this DOES NOT mean that anybody created computers. THEY ARE NOT evidence of creation... right? ATHEISM = GROSS IRRATIONAL SUPERSTITION.
@turretsCanada Sorry, my time is limited so I have to leave you to wallow in your own bullshit. And, that is where you will continue to wallow until you want Jesus to forgive you. No forgiveness = no truth and no peace. I hate being a victim of someone else's bullshit.
@richardaberdeen I do not seek the forgiveness of jesus or god. Jesus was just a guy. God is imaginary. Why do I say this? Because there is no evidence of jesus dying, getting ressurected or preforming miracles. There is no evidence of god existing, at all. You can say that you "experienced" god, but that does NOT prove anything. You say god created the universe, but there is NO evidence of that. Please do send me that link that disproves evolution, I actually do want to see that.
@turretsCanada You have no idea if God has spoken to anyone else. All we can speak for is our own experience. You continue to make grand bullshit statements for which there is no evidence. There is no way for you to know if God has spoken to anyone in the modern age or not. Most certainly, Martin Luther King, Jr. very strongly believed in God and often sought God's guidance; one would assume a bright guy like him would have eventually quit if he didn't get any response. You don't know.
@richardaberdeen But this is where science shines! If you cant prove it, then it is irrelevant! The Yorkshire Ripper heard the voice of Jesus telling him to kill women, Bush says that god told him to invade Iraq. I do not know, but since there is NO EVIDENCE, i cannot believe that anyone has "experienced" god.
@turretsCanada And, you don't know if the ressurected Jesus has ever appeared to anyone or not. This is another bullshit statement. You have no way of knowing that Jesus did not appear as those in the Bible claimed he did. Jesus first appeared to women according to one account, which any historian knows women would not have been used to verify a deliberate myth. I know Jesus is alive because he helps me all the time; I've never seen him physically; you don't know the experience of others.
@turretsCanada I'm not sure what this means or why it's relevant. Neither Jesus or any author of the Bible ever claimed that the Bible is God. And, I have yet to find the atheist who can find something wrong in it, that is not a result of known translation or scribal error or otherwise, that is not lost to modern history in terms of what the language actually means. For example, most scholars believe New Testament references translated homosexual are actually referring to pedophiles.
@richardaberdeen Wtf? Ah I see, youre going to attribute all the bad parts of the bible to some translation or scribal error and leave the good parts as is. Ok here you go. How did people misinterpret genocide, murdur and slavery in the bible?
@richardaberdeen as for the post on life in other places in the univers (i was reading our long discussion, if you can call it that), i meant to say, "There could be life on others, but so far, we have not confirmed any other planet to have life"
@turretsCanada That is correct. What we do not know is not "science". As for example, nobody knows how, where, when or why life first arouse on earth, thus so-called scientists like Richard Dawkins who pretend they do, are obvious liars and frauds. Dawkins doesn't know any more than a common waitress or truck driver how, where, when or why first arose. Many of his peers have publicly stated science likely never will know.
@turretsCanada According to Dawkins in a video on YouTube, all of life arose froma singular source in the ocean. Dawkins doesn't know that is true any more than the man in the moon. You talk about people believing in santa claus and tooth fairies, Dawkins pretends his claims are "science", while there is clear evidence they are not. Nobody knows how, where, when or why life arose on our planet except God and many honest biologists have publicly stated science probably never will know.
@turretsCanada It is BONEHEADED to compare God, the Creator of the universe, with anything else, in particular with something that nobody is claiming created the universe. You need to go back to philosophy 1-A school and start over, that is, if you have ever studied philosophy at all, which is doubtful. No self-respecting Greek or other philosopher/scientist would compare God with the spaghetti monster, which is an elementary school bonehead mistake in elementary logic.
@VesusSheist I suppose after a so-called "age of enlightment", you are going to try and pretend there is no sin, in spite of the American, French, Russian and Chinese revolutions, the rise of European and American and now Corporate imperialism and slavery, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq, in spite of the fact modern highly educated people continue to design WMDs and mass pollute the planet of their own children, devise clever banking scams that rape the common people out of house and home? Yeah, sure.
@VesusSheist I'm a history major and anyone who has studied a lot of history, which obviously you have not, is aware the so-called "golden rule" appears in similar and sometimes identical form in many often non-connected cultures spread across the human civilization map; basic laws against murder, adultery, theft and false witness are universal to all large societies. There is clear historical evidence of a shared human conscience, as Jefferson and Francis Collins have both pointed out.
@richardaberdeen Actually, some of the things Einstein said were,"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our sciences can reveal it.".
@turretsCanada I did not say that Einstein believed in a personal God. According to Einstein, the universe is like we are a child entering a vast library of complicated books; we can't understand the books very well and only barely grasp the kind of mind behind it all. This agrees with the Bible, which says God's is greater than us, as high as the heavens are above the earth. I've studied Einstein in depth; you are only kidding yourself. Einstein cleary believed the universe is Designed.
@richardaberdeen Well I am talking about a personal god. The god of the bible. One who actually cares what you do. One who grants miracles. That god, is most likely non existant ( he is impossible to disprove). A god who just created the universe, set up the laws of the universe, and took a huge break, thats more likely. And actually, he said that Nature was something that is too complicated for humans, not about how the universe was designed (which implies god did it)
Everywhere the socialists have taken control and implemented their Godless system the people not murdered in the process were looked after alright, in forced labor camps and had their suffering relieved by a bullet! Why all the God haters aren't leaving for sunny China or Nth Korea is a mystery for me, the Atheists Paradise awaits, just leave us Jesus Lovers and our Biblically based society behind forever and embrace UTOPIA! What? Still here? I wonder why?
@mikeeboy1000 Where did you get the idea that all atheists are socialists? Jesus espoused several socialist philosophies in the bible.
"Why all the God haters aren't leaving for sunny China or Nth Korea is a mystery for me, the Atheists Paradise awaits, just leave us Jesus Lovers and our Biblically based society behind forever and embrace UTOPIA! "
I can't hate something that doesn't exist. And America has a secular constitution, so maybe it's YOU who should be leaving.
@VesusSheist people get the idea that atheists are socialists because Marx hated religion he called it "the opium of the people" it acs as a form of drug to keep the working class from not knowing their exploitation of the Bourgousie and Socialism is a form of Marxism. Well atheism has got nothing to do with Marxism really.
@MTCoblivsicas12345 People like this character "mikeeboy1000" just want to lump atheists in with marxists so that all his bogeymen are in one simple, easy to identify group. I'm sure he thinks that atheist/liberal/marxist/socialist/fascist/communist/homosexual/nazi/progressive are all interchangeable terms. This is how simpletons think.
@thatamazinggeek Its a quote from Sagan. On naturalism then we are in a sea of atoms which are indifferent to one another. Dawkins agrees that at bottom there is just 'pitiless indifference'.
I don't believe in God. Yet, I'm very giving and unselfish. I always donate to charities and volunteer when I have time. I will help anyone needing a hand. I would give my plate of food to a starving homeless person in a heartbeat. By all codes, I think I’m a moral and overall good person. I behave this way not because I’m afraid of the lord but because it makes me feel good inside. It fills me with incentives to move forward and make contributions to our society.
I SHALL ANSWER THE TRINITY QUESTION BUT TO ANSWER IT I MUST ASK YOU ONE AND YOU MUST ANSWER IT: CAN YOU SEPARATE 1 YOUR FLESH 2 FROM VOICE3 FROM SOUL?
Why reduce suffering? We are just cast in a sea of indifference. Anyway, Dawkins eats meat, he causes more pain than religious people like Hindus and Buddhists who are all vegetarian (if they are traditional anyway).
@moomin468 - What's wrong with eating meat? It's natural among almost every single species of animal. Should we punish animals for eating other animals to survive?
@Critic863 Eating meat supports an industry that violates the rights of animals and causes large scale harm to those who don't deserve it. Being natural =/= being moral. Thats the naturalistic fallacy. While Dawkins still eats meat he cannot claim any moral high ground on Buddhists, Hindus or any other religious person who does not endorse the cruelty of caging and killing sentient animals.
@Critic863 Animals without reason have no moral obligations. So animals without reason such as human children (up to about 8 maybe), severely disabled humans, and other animals like cats, dogs, lions, sharks etc do not have reason so have no moral obligations. I, and I assume you too, as well as Dawkins do have reason and so do have moral obligations. Dawkins shouldn't endorse the suffering of animals because he can understand it is wrong. Other animals cannot understand this so arent obligated
@moomin468 - Well then we could apply this whole argument to eating plants also. Why should we grow and kill plants just to eat them as we do with animals? There's no escape from eating living organisms that are necessary for survival.
Recently i asked a friend of mine:"Why are you not studing"...And he said to me..."God have a plan for us".:)So much repression is in the world, and Jesus was correct when he said:"Nisam dosao da pomirim svet, vec da ga razjebem".
This is an endless discussion. The world will be free of religious people one day, less and less people are going to church anyway. Its just a matter of time.
Well, he does come from a very privileged background and went to a prestigious private school.....I wonder what his views would be if he had gone to an ordinary comprehensive school and grown up in a rough council estate?
Religious people are slave to god, so if god tells you to hug a hippie and you do, then u done the good thing, if he tells you to rape a baby and you do then you did the good thing and if tells you to kill your brother and you did then you did the good thing.
The morale fiber of a religious person is obedience.
True. But tell me when does that little invisible line between obedience and becoming a pawn become recognized by some religious zealots? Hardly ever especially if they're fundamentalists
The invisible line becomes even thinner when the basis of a organization is delusion making it incredibly difficult to weed out the crazy cause they can scream heresy (of with his head) and becomes worse when that organization is not allowed to be questioned, IE ireland is called the most christian city in the world (by some priest or another) and they are above the law which allowed the priests to control the police into shutting there mouths about them raping the children.
So tell me ttcontain, In all aspects would you consider religion primitive? I mean you know the old saying. Religion is power for the weak, Useless to the strong, and useful to the Rulers as a brainwashing tool to advocate fear. With chess pawns like sheeple and fundamentalists the prey is always too frightened to escape. Religion in America used to act as teamwork alongside science and now they are against each other. I suppose when faith and science cannot co-exist peacefully you get this mess
Without a doubt religion is primitive, the very nature of religion is creating fantasy to be able to co-exist (not understand) with the unknown.
Religion has never healed anyone, it might of fed a few people (un-like how science feeds billions a day), its notions about the universe was wrong and its methods only stopped becoming violent only when state and religion became separated but the worst part is that it thinks it is the righteous way, that its methods are good for humanity.
What can be done about it? We all know the movement of atheists is growing sure, But in america the influence of atheism and politics combined is verry weak. Maybe for state governors and mayors, But on the grander scale such as presidential achievements and positions of such power the influence is not powerful at all. Such a shame really.
Well, religion in all honesty does get it right sometimes (super uber duber pooper very extremely rarely) so it is possible to sometimes reference a religious source unknowingly.

PuNkDzZz 3 months ago 4
@PuNkDzZz I have no doubts of His existence at all. Why do you? Why is it so important to prove physical "evidence" anyway? There are scientific grounds to interpret evidence for His existence. Beside the philosophical fact that this life is a test of loyalty to God in the first place. Read the Gospels of John & Matthew to start out. As for a demonstration of bolts from the sky, what makes you think He hasnt? Just because nobody told you about it doesnt invalidate anything. Read Ezekiel 10.

treatments for the in-balance should be available to the general public rich poor and wealthy. We should improve our efforts in creating a chemical balance in the brain. This way we knoe the human being is functioning under normal conditions.
Flash02021990 4 months ago
God noes homosexuality is not normal. It was not part of his plan of creation. Yes i do think is a hormonal in-balance therefore i cant judge them. A judge cant sent to prison a man that kills because he has mental problems . they actually send them to a mental hospital. I guess there is a chemical in-balance in a psychopath. It bring him pleasure to kill therefore pleasure shouldn't be an excuse for right. I think if there is an inbalance rather than accepting it we should find a cure
Flash02021990 4 months ago
the bible never talks about how you should have sex. it only states homosexuality as something not accepted by God. The bible never actually says there is a hell either. God wont punish us in such a way he is love. God loves us just like a father wouldn't burn his child for eating too much candy. the father advises him eating too much candy although it tastes good is bad for your teeth and health. we cant lead lives based on only seeking pleasure.

I think religion is based on dualism. But human sexual drive makes one deeply linked to one's fleshly nature more than anything else.
That is one of the reason why religion is at odds with sexuality... it is not able to really accept the fleshly nature of human bodies.

It is intellectually immature to compare God and religion in the same discussion or, the same universe.
richardaberdeen 8 months ago
@richardaberdeen "God remains the same, regardless of what either lying ass fundamentalists or lying ass atheists say about God"
What exactly is god, and how do you know anything about it?
VesusSheist 7 months ago
@VesusSheist God, by definition, is Whoever created the universe. Like Einstein and the authors of the Bible both said, we don't understand God very well, as quite obviously a microbe can't understand a human being very well and God is far greater in comparison to us, than we are to microbe. Nevertheless, we can understand what God wants in relation to ud, because we have a shared human conscience which reflects God's law "written on the hearts of humanity". Atheists just deny the evidence.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen "Nevertheless, we can understand what God wants in relation to us, because we have a shared human conscience which reflects God's law "written on the hearts of humanity"
Probably the most vague response I've ever heard from a theist. How do you know any of this? Because it sounds like you're just making it up as you go along. You claim that we can't understand god, and then in the next sentence you claim to understand god's law. It's absurd.
VesusSheist 7 months ago
@VesusSheist Basic laws against murder, adultery, theft and fasle witness are spread universally in civilization history as are similar and sometimes virtually indential "golden rules", often in non-connected diverse cultures. As Jefferson stated in the Declaration and modern DNA expert Francis Collins has noted, this clearly demonstrates design and not random processes. Tell me a modern so-called "advanced" society where murder and theft are "good" and then I'll agree with you & Dawkins.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Here you are again on another page spouting your bullshit. Why do you think that Dawkins and atheists want a society where murder and theft are good? How do you explain Sweden, it has one of the lowest crime rates, is one of the healthiest countries, and 85% of Sweden doesnt believe in a god. Explain that? actually im sre you'll explain it in some crazy deluted way.
MrKGatl 7 months ago
@VesusSheist As the grand liars of all liars Dawkins has publicly written himself, the universe is just as how we would expect if there is no God, "representing nothing but blind, pitiless indifference". If this is true, then why do modern so-called advanced societies claim to ascribe to a Declaration of Human Rights, why do similar laws universally appear along with similar golden rules? How can Rosa Parks, MLK, Schweitzer and Gandhi exist in such a universe of "blind pitiless indiffernce"?
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Yes the universe and nature show blind pitiless indifference. Ask the people in Joplin, Mo., the town who saw nearly two hundred people die from tornados, or Hurricane Katrina victims. Your talking about humanity, something that mean a lot to us, and nothing to the universe
MrKGatl 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Why? Because we treat one another with love and respect (or at least some of the time) and we believe that we should never hurt another human. The universe does show blind pitiless indifference, I mean the universe doesnt care that 99.99% of the planets in the universe are too toxic, too cold, or too hot to support life. The universe didnt care that life went almost extinct on the earth several times in our history. The universe doesnt care that animals die all the time on earth
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada You have no idea what kind of life exists on other planets. According to some scientists, gas giants like Jupiter, which are abundant in the universe, could well harbor methane and/or hydrogen based life forms that hover in the atmosphere and need no solid surface to exist. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS IN THE UNIVERSE, SO STOP LYING.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen We have no idea what kind of life or how much life is in the universe. We have no idea if there is much life where there is no such thing as murder, theft, rape and deliberate lies and rather, all of life peacefully co-exists on an abundant of planets. We don't know at all what is in the universe. We do know that both oxygen and methane based life forms are on our own, clearly demonstrating life may well be abundant in the universe and life forms far more loving than we are.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada And, we don't at all treat each other with love and respect. If we did, then scientists wouldn't be creating WMDs, bio weapons and polluting the fragile home of our children to kingdom come. Who are you trying to kid? There is no evidence whatsoever that human beings are any more moral than we were in Babylon and ancient Egypt. According to many historians, more people died from violence in the 20th Century than in all previous centuries combined?
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Here's a little thought exercise for you that you probably have never bothered to consider. We live in three physical dimensions plus time. According to most scientists, the universe has between 6 and 11 or more dimensions. Suppose there really isn't a lot of mainly empty space like appears to us but rather, there is a lot of other life and stuff out there in different dimensions that we can't detect. According to the Bible there is. YOU DON'T KNOW AND, NEITHER DOES DAWKINS.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Yes I admit that I do not know, any Dawkins probably doesnt know either. But the thing is, we dont bother with things we cant detect. We cant see, smell, touch, taste, or hear it, and it doesnt affect us in any way, therefore we assume nothing is there (or whatever is, isnt of any importance). These things fall into the same category as god. Perhaps there is one, but since we cant detect him (or her, i never knew the gender of god) he is of no importance to our lives.
turretsCanada 7 months ago

richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@VesusSheist Problem with liars like Dawkins is, they invariably open mouth and insert foot and thus, are easily debunked by anyone who has studied philosophy, history or science 1-A. Those who have know the universe doesn't represent "nothing but blind pitiless indifference"; the Greek Acadamey would laugh Dawkins to scorn and ban him for life for comparing God to the spaghetti monster, by virtue of the fact if one eliminates the SM, they don't have to explain their own existence.Dawkins=Liar.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Dawkings compares god to the flying spaghetti monster because we cannot prove that either of them exists (however we cant prove that they dont exist). We cannot see, smell, touch, taste or hear god and we cannot see, smell, touch, taste or hear the FSM. At least the FSM promises spaghetti, while god is just some random guy who says, "If you dont believe in me, you burn for all eternity" (lol rhyme accidentally)
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada No, Dawkins has said several time he neither believes in God or the spaghetti monster, clearly equating the two, which any Greek philosopher would laught to scorn before banning him for life from the Academy. No self-respecting scholar would want their children taught by such an elementary-school mind. It is completely and entirely irrational to compare God with anything else, as God by definition is the Creator of the Universe. Dawkins = obviousl liar.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Is it not fair to equate the two? Neither can be detected by humans. There is no proof of either supernatural being. Neither can be disproved. They do seem very similar, and to compare the two is very logical. And again, there is no proof that god created the universe. We cannot disprove that, but there is no proof in favor or it.
turretsCanada 7 months ago

Therefore a magical being in the sky MUSTVE done it.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
Again, we do not rely on magic. As I stated, scientists have only ideas on how life formed on earth. Perhaps a combination of several chemicals to form some sort of genetic molecule, or strands of nucleic acids something that could catalyze some chemical reactions, something that had the blueprint for its own reproduction.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada What there is no proof for is magically appearing universes. It takes a lot of blind belief faith to be an atheist, while it doesn't take any to believe in God. I understand the basic laws of physics, as for example, motion requires Primary Cause. Where is you evidence for motion magically arising all by itself? According to science, nothing in the universe is static and as such, there is no such thing as random motion or, random anything else. Where is your EVIDENCE???
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Where is your evidence for intelligence arising from non-intelligence, conscious awareness arising from non-conscious bits of stuff, zillions of parts within parts magically putting themselves together. Where is your EVIDENCE? The universe is my evidence for God, where is your EVIDENCE for no God? Bullshitter.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen The universe is not evidence for god, as there is no proof, whatsoever, that a supernatural being created the universe. Please understand that. Also, just because god "helps" you and you are "aware" of his presence, doesnt mean that he exists. The same could be said about Zeus, Ra, Thor, FSW, goblins, unicorns, the big bad wolf. And because there is no proof that god exists (neither the bible NOR the universe count) we must be skeptical that he exists.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Scientists have all manner of bullshit theories how and where life arose and, none of them agree with each other. Some claim it began in fresh water, in caves, under the earth, in plain dirt, some claim life can arise almost anywhere there is any wetness. Dawkins has no idea at all if life arose from a singular source in the ocean--he just pretends blind faith gross asumptions are science. Life arose from all over the earth according to the Bible, which is most likely true.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Do you not even know what science is? Scientists all have different ideas and it is through rigorous testing, scrutiny and improvement, that certain ideas become theories. ONCE AGAIN, scientists do not know for sure how life arose, but they are working to find out. That is why there are many different hypotheses. And what proof is there that life arose from all over the earth. Just cuz the bible says so, is not a valid argument.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada A non-creationist molecular biologist state on PBS last year it is irrational to pretend that science will ever have a legitimate theory of evolution or any other theory of life. This is because life is irreducibly complexly integrated at virus and lower levels (i.e., atomic/subatomic). Viruses are much smaller than microbes and they are only poorly understood at best, yet they are the vast majority of life. For all we know, a similar thing to a virus arrived on space rocks.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Yes perhaps, and that is another theory. And please send me a link to this article. AND ONCE AGAIN, life arriving on space rocks DOES NOT prove there is a god. And if scientists don't find a reasonable answer to this complex question it DOES NOT mean that god did it.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada I know what science is. First there is evidence, then there is science. This is the opposite of atheism, which pretends there is no God, yet has no legitimate explantion for the universal evidence. Atheism is the opposite of science and always will be. First there is a creator, then there is a computer, not the other way around, which is what atheism pretends. If nobody designed the human brain, then computers magically arose all by themselves. Athesim = irrational bullshit.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Jesus christ. We DO NOT pretend there is not god. However, there is no proof of god, therefore we do not think he exists. Atheists do not believe in god because there is not evidence. Something happens, and science tries to explain it looking at the evidence, and trying to recreate this event with an experiment. FAITH is the opposite of science. Believing in something when there is absolutely no evidence.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Methane-based creatures live near deep ocean vents. This opens up a whole new world of probability of life arising from more than one source and of life being abundant in the universe. Dawkins and other Darwinists continue to believe in a simplistic outdated "evolutionary tree" model that some scientists have already discarded. A top NASA scientist believes life arrived on space rocks. Life may have been "seeded" all over the earth and be irreducibly complexly integrated.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Please show me a link that says that evolution has been disproved. As for life arriving on space rocks, that is another theory on how life began on earth. Just like how theres a theory of 1 simple organism starting it all. As for these methane-based life forms, thats another theory and has NOTHING to do with god.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
You are saying, "The existence of the universe proves God's existence. Something had to create the universe. Science has no explanation for the universe's creation. Therefore, God created it.". That, is something that the Greeks would really laugh at. Do you understand that just because theory A is wrong, it doesnt mean that theory B is correct.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and the vast majority of the historical Greeks ALL believed in God, as did DaVinci, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Darwin, Einstein, Descartes, Rousseau, Voltaire, Jefferson, Paine, Locke, Tolstoy, Gandhi, Schweitzer, Keller, Parks, King, Chavez and a host of others. I don't think it is me the Greeks would be laughing at.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Keller & Gandhi definitly did not believe in the god of the bible. Also, until the last hundred years or so, anyone who was athiest would face prosecution and often death. This little punishment for not believing in god led many people to believe in god, and most athiests do pretend to do so.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Gandhi thought highly of Jesus as did Einstein. Keller quoted Jesus and claimed to believe in Jesus. There is no such thing as "the God of the Bible" as opposed to any other God. Like Jesus said, "before Abraham was I AM". That explains the observable reality; you and Dawkins continue to fall, as the Bible says, rather "short". There is no scientist who can make a BETTER postulate for science than "I AM", the ultimate historical postulate. No one can beat God, good luck...
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Dawkins also said, the universe is exactly as one would expect if there is no God and represents "nothing but blind pitiless indifference". This is another obvious boneheaded juvenhile deliquent mistake in elementary logic any Greek scholar would laught to scorn. Socrates, Jesus, Gandhi, Schweitzer, MLK and Parks alone overwhelmingly prove the universe represents far more than blind pitiless indifference. Dawkins = lying ass boneheaded blowhard.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Jesus, please explain why it is boneheaded. Calling people names isnt enough. If listing these names proves that there is love in the universe, because some of these people were good (I do not know why you put jesus on there), then you are mistaken. The universe represents blind pitiless indifference. Even though the universe is enormous, the only confirmed live on any planet is Earth. There could be life on others, but so far, we have confirmed any other planet to have life.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada The people I listed all claimed to believe in God and demonstrated a great deal of love for their own society. There are great people all over the historical map who did great things for humanity who claimed God to be a big part of their life. Newton's primary living biographer said on PBS if Newton hadn't believed in God, he probably would never have been a scientist; same is true about Einstein according to Einstein himself. Dawkins just invents fiction and pretends it's true.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen No, Gandhi was an incredible man, but he was Hindu.
There were many great athiests as well.

Dawkins pretends science can save us without God's help, completely ignoring the war machine track record of science.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Like I said, Dawkins = obvious bullshitter. If the universe represents "nothing but blind pitiless indifference", there would be no human conscience, no concept of human rights, no ethics classes taught at his own Oxford U. All that exists would be dog-eat-dog people worse than HItler and we would long ago have murdered ourselves into extinction. That is what nothing but blind pitiless indifference equals. Dawkins = obvious liar, a grand liar of liars.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada And about confirmed life, you were the one making all manner of bullshit claims about life not existing on 99.99% of planets, not me. I never said one way or the other because I try to be honest and I don't make bullshit claims that aren't backed up by any evidence, such as "disbelief" in God, the most bullshit claim ever made in the history of bullshit claims. You and Dawkins make all kinds of erroneous claims that have no foundation in evidence.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Do you not understand that god is the biggest bullshit claim ever made in the history of bullshit claims. He is supposed to be responsible for the creation of the universe, miracles, morals, whatever BUT
God has never left any physical evidence of his existence on earth.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Bullshit. The earth IS physical evidence for God, just like my brain, my eyeballs and everything else in what science arbitrarily calls the "natural" world is evidence for God. What there is no evidence for, is a conclusion of no God. If there is no Creator, then provide evidence as I've already requested. Where is your evidence of motion arising from non motion, intelligence from non intelligence, etc. You make bullshit claims that have no foundation in evidence.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen No, no, no. I say once again. We do not know how life first arose, or motion, or the universe. HOWEVER, this DOES NOT mean that god exists. IT IS NOT evidence for gods existance.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada PRIMARY CAUSE. "BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM" SATISFIES PRIMARY CAUSE. NOTHING ELSE IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY SATISFIES PRIMARY CAUSE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, YOU CAN'T BEAT GOD. YOU SHOULD READ THE WORDS OF JESUS BECAUSE HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. YOU CAN'T BEAT GOD AND, YOU NEVER WILL.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Yes I admit I cannot "beat" god, he is impossible to prove false. But I put him in the same category as Zeus, Ra, Thor, Allah, as well as leprechauns, FSM, goblins, dragons, minotaur, etc, etc. No proof for any of them but impossible to prove false. At least the FSW is nicer than god, seeing as how the bible (word of god) permits genocide, slavery, murder, etc, etc. "The religion of one age is the literary entertainment of the next"
-Ralph Waldo Emerson. Well said.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen What makes god exempt from this rule? And by your logic, I could say, " Before the FSM was, the flying noodle monster IS" That just satisfied primary cause. Seeing as how you say god does not need a primary cause, I could say the flying noodle moster does not need a primary cause, or perhaps a giant teapot, or a bar of soap. You could insert anything at all into that sentence and none of those things can be disproved.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Sorry, I don't believe in magically appearing universes, magically appearing intelligence from non-intelligence, magically appearing laws of physics, magically appearing processes of evolution, magically appearing santa clauses, tooth faires, spaghetti monsters and magically appearing little green men from Mars like Hitchens. Sorry, atheism requires way too much blind faith for me to believe. Atheism = Total Bullshit.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen I do not believe magically appearing universes, magically appearing intelligence from non-intelligence, magically appearing laws of physics, magically appearing processes of evolution, magically appearing santa clauses, tooth faires, spaghetti monsters and magically appearing little green men from Mars like Hitchens but Ill add one more thing. I do not believe in some guy in the sky who created everything, knows what im doing, where i am, and cares about me.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen I also do not believe that this hypothetical man in the sky can choose to send us to an amazing place after we die, or send us to some hole in the ground where we burn forever. Now. Science has NEVER SAID that intelligence magically appeared, or the laws of physics were just there, evolution has nothing to do with magic, genes dont copy perfectly, the mutations can change things, better mutations are more likely to be passed down, worse mutations die off.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Also, belief in god is EQUAL to santa clauses, tooth fairies, s.m., little green men because, (jesus ive repeated this so many times), there is absolutely no evidence for any of those things (and god falls into the same category) but you cannot prove that any of those things do not exist. I personally do not believe in any of them (including god) because there is not evidence that points to the contrary.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Also, you use the bible, again, as proof even though it is not. The bible is just a book of fairytales, some good, but there are many innaccuracies and factual errors in the bible as well as passages with very immoral messages (slavery is good. Murder is fine, etc.)
coppit.org/god/contradictions.php That will probably explain them better than I.
Also, we do not know any authors of the bible, nor find the place it was written, nor know the time it was written.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada What is true remains true. This is true regardless of what kind of book it is in or, how old the book is. You seem to have a problem with reality, which doesn't surprise me. What is true remains true, whether it is in a book called Harry Potter or, a book called Dawkins Dipshit Superstition Posing as Science.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Please do not say something like, "The errors are all due to translation errors" or, "We misinterpret the word of god" or, "God is too divine and we humans will never be able to understand his power". Or whatever other excuse you can think of. I want you to tell me why the bible can be considered a reliable source of information considering we dont know how many people wrote the bible, who wrote it, where it was written or when it was written.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Sorry, folks, my time is limited and I am off to greener pastures. I feel sorry for atheists because Jesus wants to help them for free and instead of lying down in green pastures, they are left wallowing in their own bullshit. You might wish to consider the science of "bottomless pit" black holes containing a "sea of fire" (source; Neil Tyson) carefully. The Bible describes this type undiscovered until 1990's precisely as modern science does; You think Jesus is wrong ???
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen You say we are wallowing in our bullshit, when the bible is probably the biggest load of bullshit ever. If by bullshit, you mean the theories we were talking about, (origin of life/universe/motion/whatever), I dont know why you would say theyre bullshit, seeing as your expanation for all these things is "god". Please write how the bible describes this type of black hole, as well as how science desbribes them. Ive never seen the bible talk about black holes.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Oh I see, so loving our neighbor as ourself is just a bullshit idea. Or, how about you will know the truth and the truth will set you free, just another bullshit idea? How about if we lay down our swords, this will take care of a little problem called "war" that seems to keep recurring in spite of a so-called "enlightenment", just another bullshit idea, right? How about it is best for society if we don't murder, steal or deliberately lie. Yeah, sure, as if you have better ideas.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen By the way, I do not need your sympathy. I do not give a shit about who jesus was, or what he did, because most of whats written about him is bullshit anyways (such as ressurection). Athiests will never believe in jesus, because theres no point to believe that he was the son of god and did all sorts of impossible feats and theres NO EVIDENCE. If you consider the bible saying something being equal to jesus saying something, then perhaps, i have seen black holes in the bible.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada That's obvious, you don't care about what is true but rather, you are just trying to defend atheism, which is like pissing up a rope, only infinitely more useless.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen when did neil tyson say that? i've seen videos of him describing black holes and have never heard him say such a thing.
KevinBreuninger 7 months ago
@KevinBreuninger According to Tyson, a certain type of black hole, which as the Bible describes, resides in outer darkness, contains an inner event horizon "sea of fire", consisting of stars formerly all around it, that have now disappeared and thus, it resides in "dark voids" in space. This is what he said and, it agrees precisely with what the Bible says, unless you want to argue that "lake of fire" is somehow different than "sea of fire"; Britannica calls it a "bottomless pit", same as Bible
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada I don't make any excuses for the Bible; regardless of how right or wrong the Bible may be, this has no relevance to the existence of God. The universe is evidence for God, just as your responses are evidence that atheists are bullshitters, afraid of the obvious fact that Eternal Creator satisfies origins and they can't.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Oh I see, so if I was to land on earth from another part of the universe and, I was to look at a computer for the first time and otherwise have no knowledge of them, then it would be totally rational and reasonable for me to say: No, no, no, We do not know how computers first arose, or the parts, or the casing and screen. HOWEVER, this DOES NOT mean that anybody created computers. THEY ARE NOT evidence of creation... right? ATHEISM = GROSS IRRATIONAL SUPERSTITION.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada Sorry, my time is limited so I have to leave you to wallow in your own bullshit. And, that is where you will continue to wallow until you want Jesus to forgive you. No forgiveness = no truth and no peace. I hate being a victim of someone else's bullshit.

turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen I do not seek the forgiveness of jesus or god. Jesus was just a guy. God is imaginary. Why do I say this? Because there is no evidence of jesus dying, getting ressurected or preforming miracles. There is no evidence of god existing, at all. You can say that you "experienced" god, but that does NOT prove anything. You say god created the universe, but there is NO evidence of that. Please do send me that link that disproves evolution, I actually do want to see that.

None of Jesus' "miracles" left any physical evidence either.
God has never spoken to modern man, for example by taking over all the television stations and broadcasting a rational message to everyone.
The resurrected Jesus has never appeared to anyone.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada You have no idea if God has spoken to anyone else. All we can speak for is our own experience. You continue to make grand bullshit statements for which there is no evidence. There is no way for you to know if God has spoken to anyone in the modern age or not. Most certainly, Martin Luther King, Jr. very strongly believed in God and often sought God's guidance; one would assume a bright guy like him would have eventually quit if he didn't get any response. You don't know.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen But this is where science shines! If you cant prove it, then it is irrelevant! The Yorkshire Ripper heard the voice of Jesus telling him to kill women, Bush says that god told him to invade Iraq. I do not know, but since there is NO EVIDENCE, i cannot believe that anyone has "experienced" god.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada And, you don't know if the ressurected Jesus has ever appeared to anyone or not. This is another bullshit statement. You have no way of knowing that Jesus did not appear as those in the Bible claimed he did. Jesus first appeared to women according to one account, which any historian knows women would not have been used to verify a deliberate myth. I know Jesus is alive because he helps me all the time; I've never seen him physically; you don't know the experience of others.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
The Bible we have is provably incorrect and is obviously the work of primitive men rather than God.
When we analyze prayer with statistics, we find no evidence that God is "answering prayers."
Huge, amazing atrocities like the Holocaust and AIDS occur without any response from God.
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada I'm not sure what this means or why it's relevant. Neither Jesus or any author of the Bible ever claimed that the Bible is God. And, I have yet to find the atheist who can find something wrong in it, that is not a result of known translation or scribal error or otherwise, that is not lost to modern history in terms of what the language actually means. For example, most scholars believe New Testament references translated homosexual are actually referring to pedophiles.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Wtf? Ah I see, youre going to attribute all the bad parts of the bible to some translation or scribal error and leave the good parts as is. Ok here you go. How did people misinterpret genocide, murdur and slavery in the bible?
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen as for the post on life in other places in the univers (i was reading our long discussion, if you can call it that), i meant to say, "There could be life on others, but so far, we have not confirmed any other planet to have life"
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada That is correct. What we do not know is not "science". As for example, nobody knows how, where, when or why life first arouse on earth, thus so-called scientists like Richard Dawkins who pretend they do, are obvious liars and frauds. Dawkins doesn't know any more than a common waitress or truck driver how, where, when or why first arose. Many of his peers have publicly stated science likely never will know.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada According to Dawkins in a video on YouTube, all of life arose froma singular source in the ocean. Dawkins doesn't know that is true any more than the man in the moon. You talk about people believing in santa claus and tooth fairies, Dawkins pretends his claims are "science", while there is clear evidence they are not. Nobody knows how, where, when or why life arose on our planet except God and many honest biologists have publicly stated science probably never will know.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@turretsCanada It is BONEHEADED to compare God, the Creator of the universe, with anything else, in particular with something that nobody is claiming created the universe. You need to go back to philosophy 1-A school and start over, that is, if you have ever studied philosophy at all, which is doubtful. No self-respecting Greek or other philosopher/scientist would compare God with the spaghetti monster, which is an elementary school bonehead mistake in elementary logic.

There is clear historical evidence of a shared human conscience, as Jefferson and Francis Collins have both pointed out.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Actually, some of the things Einstein said were,"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our sciences can reveal it.".
turretsCanada 7 months ago
@turretsCanada I did not say that Einstein believed in a personal God. According to Einstein, the universe is like we are a child entering a vast library of complicated books; we can't understand the books very well and only barely grasp the kind of mind behind it all. This agrees with the Bible, which says God's is greater than us, as high as the heavens are above the earth. I've studied Einstein in depth; you are only kidding yourself. Einstein cleary believed the universe is Designed.
richardaberdeen 7 months ago
@richardaberdeen Well I am talking about a personal god. The god of the bible. One who actually cares what you do. One who grants miracles. That god, is most likely non existant ( he is impossible to disprove). A god who just created the universe, set up the laws of the universe, and took a huge break, thats more likely. And actually, he said that Nature was something that is too complicated for humans, not about how the universe was designed (which implies god did it)

@VesusSheist people get the idea that atheists are socialists because Marx hated religion he called it "the opium of the people" it acs as a form of drug to keep the working class from not knowing their exploitation of the Bourgousie and Socialism is a form of Marxism.

Why reduce suffering? We are just cast in a sea of indifference. Anyway, Dawkins eats meat, he causes more pain than religious people like Hindus and Buddhists who are all vegetarian (if they are traditional anyway).
moomin468 1 year ago
@moomin468 - What's wrong with eating meat? It's natural among almost every single species of animal. Should we punish animals for eating other animals to survive?
Critic863 1 year ago
@Critic863 Eating meat supports an industry that violates the rights of animals and causes large scale harm to those who don't deserve it. Being natural =/= being moral. Thats the naturalistic fallacy. While Dawkins still eats meat he cannot claim any moral high ground on Buddhists, Hindus or any other religious person who does not endorse the cruelty of caging and killing sentient animals.
moomin468 1 year ago
@moomin468 - I'll ask you once again; should we punish or think less of animals for eating other animals?
Critic863 1 year ago
@Critic863 Animals without reason have no moral obligations. So animals without reason such as human children (up to about 8 maybe), severely disabled humans, and other animals like cats, dogs, lions, sharks etc do not have reason so have no moral obligations. I, and I assume you too, as well as Dawkins do have reason and so do have moral obligations. Dawkins shouldn't endorse the suffering of animals because he can understand it is wrong. Other animals cannot understand this so arent obligated
moomin468 1 year ago

JonasBrosMustDie 2 years ago 4

JonasBrosMustDie 2 years ago
Without a doubt religion is primitive, the very nature of religion is creating fantasy to be able to co-exist (not understand) with the unknown.
Religion has never healed anyone, it might of fed a few people (un-like how science feeds billions a day), its notions about the universe was wrong and its methods only stopped becoming violent only when state and religion became separated but the worst part is that it thinks it is the righteous way, that its methods are good for humanity.

True. But then again the biggest question is,
What can be done about it? We all know the movement of atheists is growing sure, But in america the influence of atheism and politics combined is verry weak. Maybe for state governors and mayors, But on the grander scale such as presidential achievements and positions of such power the influence is not powerful at all. Such a shame really.

I think Pres. Obama is a "closeted atheist". It's just an election killer if you were to come out and say you were an atheist unfortunately.

His beginning words about morality coming from wanting to reduce suffering for sentient beings sounds very Buddhist :)

@zeppelin8
Well, religion in all honesty does get it right sometimes (super uber duber pooper very extremely rarely) so it is possible to sometimes reference a religious source unknowingly.
Besides there are many great people th
