Maybe JBmiddleOFnoWHERE hasn't seen posts of this ride b/c they don't allow loose items. In fact, I got kicked off this ride in May of 2009 while trying to film with my little Sony digital camera. Did they use to allow cameras on the ride or what??

I'm pretty sure cameras have never been allowed, but I am very careful, I use the wrist strap so that it won't fly out of my hand. I also have a Flip camera, so its easy to hide.

@kpswichita I can guarantee you that cameras are not allowed on the ride, wrist strap or not. Glad you don't mind risking the safety of yourself and others on the ride while the people working are doing their best to keep you safe.

its all good, the park layout takes this scenario into account. Engineers have calculated how far a camera would be flung if dropped during the ride. It will either hit the ground below, or the building or fence behind.Or, get flung into densly populated tree areas fwd and aft(not many ppl in these zones). Its very unlikely that a camera dropped on The Big Swing would have a devastating effect on much of anything.

@kpswichita Just because you think everything is ok doesn't mean it is. What if your camera was flung into Lost River when a boat was passing? Don't think it would? I've seen things fly off the swing and into the River. Even had somebody get hit one time.

These are all calculated risks built into the layout of the park.. If it was determined that a projectile coming off The Big Swing had enough velocity to kill someone, then it wouldn't have been laid out that way. They wouldn't be able to get insurance. But if it makes the Nanny State feel better, i will never do anything fun and interesting again... promise.

@kpswichita Perhaps there is a reason that I have concern. For one, you failed to follow the rules of the ride, which is a class A misdemeanor. If you don't believe me, read the signs at the entrance of the rides. Two, I have seen people get hurt at that park because someone else decided they wanted to be cool by doing something completely stupid. Three, your failure to follow that one simple rule only makes you more likely to break other rules.

@kpswichita Just because someone won't get killed doesn't mean someone won't get hurt. Assuming you have kids (which I hope to God you don't), would you be alright with them getting hurt because someone was stupid and broke such a simple rule? You'd only have a problem if they got killed?

If someone was hurt because of my actions, I am sure I would get sued for every dime I had....which was a risk I was willing to take... Yes I would feel badly... I would volunteer to be burned at the stake..... whatever it takes to stop this madness!!!!!

I thought the Big Swing was way more intense than Thunderation. But I am a rollercoaster person.  I can ride coasters all day long,...On the other hand, swings, ferris wheels and tilt-a-whirls freak me out.... Go for it!!!

Oh ya...This is alot better then thunderation, but if your scared of heights its not a great idea. but otherwise this is ALOT of fun(:
