YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAXED ON YOUR HARD EARNED...then they have the nerve to tax you on most things you buy AT 20%.
YOU KEEP TAKING IT BECAUSE YOU ARE SHEEPLE.........WAKE THE FUCK UP!
They do it because yet again we bend over and take it.. Its Criminal and it will lead to people buying less, firms going out of business and 2011 being shite.
Its a ridiculous decision.
I for one will be buying near mint 2nd hand items and I suggest you do the same.
1% rise in VAT equals 4 - 4,5 % rise in price of goods.
Example : Price of bread consists of price of flour , electricity , petrol ect. which all rise the VAT , but nobody in the mainstream media tells you that.
So a VAT rise of 2,5% will get the prices up 10 - 11,5 %.
England will be a dead economy, people wiill not spend, this Prime Minister and goverment fail to realise you cant spend what you dont have. Pure and simple ,aths. the conservatives have never been on touch with reality and should be removed. This may infact start mass riots and possible Martial Law. But I thing many frosaw that anyway.
VAT is a regressive tax; the poor pay more as a proportion of their income. It is wrong and immoral to raise such a tax. If I were Chancellor, I would keep VAT at its current level, but raise "sin taxes" and legalise cannabis so that we can tax that as well.
Whilst I acknowledge that we cannot completely abolish VAT, we can aim to keep it as low as possible. This applies equally to National Insurance and Income Tax; they are both wrong, but they cannot be abolished without a replacement. Therefore, a single flat tax would be the best option.
VAT is a regressive tax that will make the poorest poorer, so when the government pretends that it will protect the vulnerable, they are simply not telling the truth. Having said that, I would argue that VAT is in direct contrast to traditional Tory values; true Conservatives believe in the free market, but VAT is a tax on the market value of a product. This is wrong, immoral and illiberal. If I were Chancellor, I would keep VAT at 17.5%, but split it into a national rate and Local Sales Tax.
all the mess the country is in is down too the greedy bankers that nearly brought this country to its knees if labour had not help the banks all the peoples money in the banks would have been lost, its the greed of the bankers that has got us in this mess and now they pay just a pitiful 2 billion pounds a year back in payments pathetic they got off lightly.
Who ran up the debt? Who sold most of our gold reserves at a low? Who made promises they already knew taxes couldn't cover?
Labour is sat there in the opposition criticising the decisions the coalition government has had to make, when they are in response to Labours mistakes.
Don't be fooled by Labours criticisms, they are bashing the people cleaning up "THEIR" mess. I don't like these changes either, but direct the blame at the cause; not the people trying to fix it.
We have a debt, run up by a labor gov', we have to pay it off, why not ask the question who the fuck kept voting for labor when it was obvious that Gordon Brown, first as chancellor and then PM didn't have the foggiest idea when it came to matters of a fiscal nature, the economy is bad enough, had we of continued along those lines things would of ended up a hell of a lot worse than they are now.
@LeeQuangVu The cost of paying our debt currently exceeds how much we are spending on defence, Labour was spending £1 they didn't have for every £4 of government expenditure.
At what point was we supposed to actually deal with this debt? In the name of keeping the population happy, was the government supposed to keep spending money they didn't have until total debt exceeded the countries GDP; like it does in Greece?
The longer the debt is put off; the worst the solutions will be.

The only taxes that should have been raised are "sin taxes" on tobacco and alcohol.
