Personaly, I believe that the gold was used in the markets to help push down the price of gold from the time it was put back in the market place in the 70s up through todays times. If the people would find out gold was really money, it could have caused serious problems for the fiat currency system. The price had to fall every year, and it did. 20 years straight.. Silver too. In 2000 the preasures became to strong. I feel gold is back to proper price but if the dollar defaults its 190,000 ounce

@Tobleronewnuts Nothing. Its the "sorcerers stone." It took a long time to pull off this deception. But when the treasury sells our bonds (which are good for now) the fed bank loans our government BILLS to be repaid for those treasurys. The banks have collateral held in our land (which is why we have no lodial title) and as well in our physical bodys under our birth certificates. The fed also uses our millitary to force the currency on the world (just like the Romans fiat towards the end)

@Tobleronewnuts I'm glad to hear you have seen that movie. Its pretty good. As a long term keynesian its nice to see people realizing what money has always been before these last 40 years. The part to worry about now is the CDS market that Obama does not understand and allowed. The bank of international settlements shows us on the hook for 7.5 trillion thanks to banksters being allowed to be unregulated insurers. MF Global was just the beggining to the next round of much, much larger bailouts.
