That's a really weird crash, he was practically going straight. I wonder what happened? Could blame the rider, but from my own experience Ducatis are pretty forgiving bikes. It looks like he might have locked up the front tire. Over compensating for the stock rotors I guess.
@TheOKTerrificable lol what? You're saying "from your experience" that an 1098R is forgiving and you'll need to compensate for the stock rotors? You sir have no idea what you're talking about. Especially if you DO have experience with Ducatis.
@monkeypainter808 What I meant was when I was riding those turns on a Duc I had times where I got ahead of my skills & the bike pretty much got me through it. I'm guessing he was knew the stock brakes to be weaker & leaned on them too much.
everyone shut the fuck up about how he doesnt deserve to have that bike. For all you know he could be a pro superbike racer and he just did a small mistake. dont worry about the bike, be grateful that you werent the guy that crashed.
There is no tragedy..I see protection on axles . Hit it was not so hard so there is only outside demages. . Few new parts ( I know it's expensive ) a litte bit of paint and will be fine.
I think it's kind of f'd up that the guy who created this channel makes money off of filming riders crashing their bikes and they get nothing for the video except thousands of dollars of repairs.
For all you retards calling him inexperienced etc, everyone makes mistakes! Hell even the likes of Rossi make the odd mistake due to lack of concentration or whatever. For all you know this guy is a better rider than all of you put together.
A sensible person would ride what they can afford to fix ! He obviously has money to spend so much on that ! You wouldn't by a lambo with your life savings and then sell it because you broke the side mirror !
@TheBikerZito you obviously havent seen the rediculous amounts of videos of people crashing or nearly crashing on this corner. its notorious for this. although i do think there are plenty of people with too much bike.
100k + are you joking??? you can pick that bike up in england for around £20k that would be around 35 thou in USD unless as the other bloke said you guys get ripped off cos its italian?? check ebay uk and see what the are listed at, and remember bikes dont sell for the listed price....
@E17bikes I think he/she is getting mixed up with the "Desmosedici", they are selling for around £50k or I guess $75-80k in the USA that would be two and a half decent cars.
@E17bikes i think you should read the extras he has on the bike....what are u talking about??? only those forks cost around 20k ....superbike specs FGR 900 forks.
yes as BASE its around 35k and he has much more things on the bike except that
Even a nice BMW, Audi etc etc going around the 50k ... Not talking about the extremely expensive ones...from my understanding this bike with the extras is a 100+ K So yes two to two and a half
@ronirb1 oh my bad I was talking about european family cars not the plastic fantastic crap on that side of the pond... Think Audi, BMW etc etc not Chrysler... Or is it that Ducati rip the ass out of americans when it comes to RRP and resale prices???
Hold on this guy isnt an Idiot!! as was said the bike is worth as much as a half decent family car so not the end of the world..
What I would say is why not buy an older 600 something like a K4 that you can hooon around on and learn the ropes without much expense if it goes poo, and use the Duc on the race track where lets be honest it belongs!!! All that kit on the road is a massive over kill and why bother with the pose factor ??? Real riders respect hard riding regardless of the machine.....
has anyone ever looked back at allllllllll these crashes and thought, how many lifes/bikes(kinda) that damn rail has saved, i swear they must replace that rail like twice a month hahaha
numerous riders seem to spend thousands on bike and gear upgrades; but one thing many neglect is a professional rider course education; all that fancy parts on bike becomes damaged parts on bike. Better to spend thousands on enrolling in rider education program and ride just used bike or ordinary stock bike, than be this guy. With all that weight savings from his Titanium parts and this is the slowest bike, since bike is just laying on side on gravel (sarcasm). nice riding.
I'm pretty sure the guy who made this video caked wax or gel or something on the road because if you watch the close calls compilation by the same guy it shows all kinds of bikes slipping on what looks like the same exact turn
Actually what happened was the Ducati wouldn't tolerate such an unworthy rider and bucked him off. Everything was going fine till he decided to jump off mid corner.
What with the surface on that corner that catches out so many riders, it looks like asphalt I cant believe how little traction that surface has. It needs chipseal resurface to improve traction, as some of the riders are hardly cranked over and the front washes out or the rear high sides cant all be rider error. I am experienced road rider down under in NZ and a road worker in a sealing crew.
My 916 just tipped over in the garage and cost 1500 to fix. Cant imagine how much the insurance company is going to pay for this with all the very expensive mods. Very nice bike he has. He grabbed too much front brake and he has some massive front brakes. Should have leaned more with steady throttle. He would have been okay.
I admit there are quite a few riders up there endangering other drivers who just want to enjoy the scenery (cars AND cruisers) at a safe speed...it IS beautiful in that area. For those riders, I say take it to a track and show some concern for the drivers who want to do the posted speed limit. On the other hand my recommendations for a safer designed safety barrier and crash barrels in front of the rock formations was made to save a life regardless of who was at fault.
Look at 0:29 - the rider is looking at exactly where he doesn't want to go (the edge/ crash barrier), and so he goes precisely in that direction. Next thing is to grab the chicken-switch, the front brake.
At late 0:28, he's not leaning even as far as the bike goes resting on the side-stand. It's nowhere approaching the limit, and traveling at moped speed. This accident was entirely due to rider inexperience and panic.
@66eccles Looks to me like he's already having the accident before he comes into view on the vid.. If you freeze it at 0:29 and look just under the bike between front tyre and fairing it looks like the front tyre is smoking... just seems to be a light grey shadow there and it should be as dark as the rest of the bikes shadow..
Shame the camera was following the bike in front before turning to the Ducati..
He must've been confident in his riding to have that bike plus all the Ducati Corse gear knowing that if he ever dropped it, he would look like a total ass, it would be even worse if there was someone there with a camera and even worse if they were going to put it on youtube and get well over 200k views...
i can understand that some people can afford these 10,000+ bikes but why get one when you can't ride worth shit?? I've seen some videos on here of guys with zx6r's and R6's carving up that bend hella nicely.... this is just stupid. Sell this ducati.. and whats left of it and buy a ninja 250r and LEARN TO RIDE first.
@350z89 First bike I owned was a GSXR-750 when I was 17. I use to race professional motocross in the AMA A class, AA is what you see on TV, riding since I was 5. I dropped my 750 once because of road conditions, then 6 years later (this summer), I dropped my Ducati again for the same reason. I don't care what anyone says, any rider who is wearing full gear like that is not new (99% of the time. I hate idiots like you who instantly resort to this because he fell. That road is bad as it is
You need to do your homework. I raced "AA", which is professional, Enduro and that class structure is still the same for today! I still race in the summer to keep my class and number. Motocross style events are still sanctioned by classes... and have changed since my last Nationals race 6 years ago. My next door neighbor is Ricky Carmichael's cousin... who I grew up with, Chas. I also grew up riding with Fred Hoess's step-son who also lives on the same road. You obviously don't ride.
@350z89 Why spend 8k on something your not gonna have fun with. Get what you want, have fun with. Live now pay later. You got 1 life live it hard to the end.
@350z89 Oh fuck off, bikes are about passion. If someone wants to buy a 10 or 20 grand bike they can't ride properly good luck to them. Bikes make you feel like god and everyone should experience that even if you can't get your knee down
@350z89 That WAS a 35k+.bike. 20k+ stock plus 15k+ mods. You dont have to buy 5 bikes to LEARN to ride(cbr125 then ninja250r then cbr400rr then 600rr and then R1). 2 are more than enough (125cc then 1000cc or whatever :)The only rule here is to NEVER pass YOUR limits, specialy with a bike that you r not fumiliar with. By "learning" your bike you automaticaly become a better rider. And remember: there is no rider out there that havent crashed.or his is not a "rider" yet ;) SAFE riding to all! cheers
@350z89 All YOU "pros" should reserve comment until you know all the facts. Look at the slomo at around 0:25. The guy did absolutely nothing wrong. Leaking brake fluid got on his wheel and tire. Bike had just been dealer serviced...obviously not well.
Wonder if you Mr. Suggestions could have done any better. Any idea how slippery hydraulic fluid is?
lowside is a lowside, to much front brake especially with those well thats what happens. hes just lucky the rail stopped him cuz that looked like an edge lol. poor duc..

Guardrails here are called guillotines for motorcycleriders. Here's a demonstration of the reason why.
