The extream gamer version is a rebranded Audigy 2 with X-fi drivers and software.

The drivers have always worked from creative since 2000 The first X-fi cards had problems with the PCI slot due to the power of the card so they made a PCI-E version with a revised chip. Run it in Entertainment mode for everything the game mode reduces audsio quality.

Ok for those of you who are considering to buy this card... DONT!!! you are better of with the standard version and don't go for the champion version because it doesn't work as it is supposed to. The front pannel just re-directs your voice into your headset and you will only hear your own voice and nothing else, no matter what u do... So just buy the standard version because it's cheaper and will not disappoint you. The sound card itself is really good.... So just DONT!!!

The only thing you get extra with the champions version is a box you can place in the front of your pc casing and have it to look nice... buy it's really just something you will not need, or in my case not even use... because it just doesn't work properly. And also i plugged my mic into the rear of the sound card couse that does work sometimes...

the wiring harness that goes from the card to the drive bay controller has 3 wires that aren't put into the harness......JUST what I wanted to do, MORE wiring after wiring a computer together.....

The X-fi Titanium does EAX 5 HD and Open Al over 4000 sound effect channels on chip and does the other sound processing that is normally done on CPU if you have onboard sound. it also does all the movie sound formats dolby, dts and so on.

The SB X-FI Titanium is the best and is all you need. If you check it out spec by spec the Fatal1ty series is EXACTLY the same as the Titanium the only difference is 64mb X-Ram which the card uses instead of using your mobos ram. Anybody with over 1gb of ram would find that useless and with the price of DDR2 being so cheap you could get 4gb of ram for the extra 100$ you pay for the Fatal1ty version. The front drive bay shown in this video degrades the sound quality because of analog cables in it

CMSS-3D sucks ass btw (pretty muddy to me), just turn it off, but crystalizer is pretty good, and quality in general is great

He is saying that since the sound card isn't PCI (which are usually covered in dual slot multi-gpu configurations), you can use it on the PCIe X1. don't listen to this video.. research the card first before you buy it- it has many many many driver/software bugs.. also stereo mix DOES NOT work on this card (it's a half duplex, not a full duplex card). i bought this card and ended up sending it back a week later (like many others who purchased it).

full surround sound is very helpful if you play lots of games or watch movies, i guess you could get headphones for surround but its not as great as watching a movie with speakers and chest pounding bass, but if you dont have a surround sound setupthen its definatly useless, only exception would be you have a pair of really high range 2.0, or 2.1 speakers

I'm a musician and I have a professional soundcard, EMU 1616 PCI to be exact. soundcards are important for anyone who wants to have sound. Even if you don't buy a dedicated soundcard, u will have one on your motherboard. Even today onboard soundcards are crap for playing games compared to proper soundcards, u will have an increase in FPS. U will also have a better signal to noice ratio meaning u will have clearer sound at a higher volume. This is because the audio circuits are not next to others
