I remember watching this in the 80's on BBC2, Liked it but according to my parents the makers took a lot of artistic license with the history. It was more like a King Arthur story than what really happened.
@ladie1able one question, i dont know if u r knowledgeable about this but ill give it a try, did she (nandi) really forgive her enemies? or were there more massacres at the coronation? i mean i know from books that mkabayi wasnt killed and all , but do u know from any of the literature if more deaths happened at the coronation? cos ive read different tales bout the coronation and sigujana's downfall. thanks
Queen Nandi really was a Queen of Queens. She embodied: patience, endurance, strength, beauty, and possessed a rare trait: the ability to forgive her enemies.
Good news African people: scientist discovered last year that caucasians are part neanderthal. They also confirmed it this year. google it. Based on the paper caucasians share 9% haplotype similarity to Neanderthals. Thus caucasians are 91% human. Which is not too bad, but still not quite 100% human. Science hasn't been too kind to white people lately. There is a root for their evil. It's in their gene.
This is truly the best part of this movie! At last, after so many years Nandi finally owns the Zulu crown and the respect of her subjects! Now, I ask this question. Why in the beginning was Nandi so terribly mistreated not only by her peers and fellow tribesmen but, by Ngabi as well? I might answer that for myself! I think it was because they wanted Nandi out of the way so that Shaka could become a zulu leader in their eyes but, in a different view Shaka wanted to rule in his way! Am I right?
This song is so beautiful...and YES, Nandi was humbled.....having to wait over 20 years to be ackin. as Queen...come on now...she was as humbled as she could be.
