i pumpo about 30gpm through a 100 foot fire hose with a 15 foot head and a 1/2 hp pump and 1.5 inch hose

Also it isn't distance that requires horsepower, it's the height the water needs to be pumped, I.e. Out of a basement, generally 10' high depending on pump gpm a 1/3 horsepower may only move 5gpm for instance up 10' but a 1hp say moves 100gpm, where your property sits, how much rain etc. Etc all plays a part in how many hp you need. If in a bad storm you have 10gpm flowing in, if you only have a pump that moves 5gpm, your house and belongings are in trouble, otherwise good video

That pump doesn't move water as quick as any pumps I've ever seen

The video doesn't explain why sealing the cover as shown does not cause vent issues during sump pump operation.

Thanks! My husband just called and asked me to keep an eye on the sump pump - this helped me understand what his concern is - and if i have to replace it today, i'll have a better idea of what to look for!
