@xwrn It`s Branagh and it just goes to show he`s not a snob about his work . Expecting all Films to have Shakespearean pathos is unrealistic and quite frankly if that were the case, Hollywood would be very boring indeed ! Many Films are simply meant to be fun rides ! This is one of `em ! Alot of The Films generally thought of as " bad " , you`ll find , are actually quite entertaining if ya just learn ta stop overthinkin` things and lighten up ! Am I sayin` there aren`t genuinely bad Films ? No

That`s not ta say there aren`t genuinely bad Movies ( Batman & Robin , Catwoman , 2003`s Hulk is okay but at many parts can`t seem to decide whether it`s A Comic Book Film or just A Film which I believe led to its failure ) !
@1993MovieMan I don't disagree *in general*, but this movie is just bad (along with most of your examples). This scene is an awkward attempt at comic relief in a film full of them. Consider the horrid physical comedy with the collars. Ugh. In contrast the A-Team movie, plus a few pints, was fantastic schlock! If this was Branagh's attempt to cut lose, he didn't put much thought nor energy into the role. Compare with Raul Julia hamming it up as Bison in Street Fighter!

Those Films I mentioned were all made for pure Entertainment and were hated by snobs who only want pretentious Oscar Bait Romances and Dramas ( which would be boring as Hell ) ! Oh and the much-maligned films " Son of The Mask " and " Spider-Man 3 " did have A Message : " Son of The Mask " was about A Man learning the true value of family & " Spider-Man 3 " was about forgiveness .

This movie is incredibly underrated. It's ridiculously fun to watch and stands up to repeated viewings, which is something you can't say about a lot of other movies.
As much as i love Will Smiths charactor I think Loveless won that one.

Agreed, people didn't like it mainly becasue they felt it was more "show" than anything else.
People realy should lower down their expectations for movies, not everything you watch has to be the second coming of jesus.
