and from my own personal experience racing people in these suits and wore earlier produced suits i still went on and one nationals. suits dont change the outcome of positions, therefore, these swimmers are still the fastest there ever will be. its just that technology has evolved with the sport.

The suits were proven to make a difference yes, however, it does not change the fact that swimmers are the best in the world. Because think this way if they all just wore trunks then he would of still won but in a slightly slower time. The suits dont change the swimmer or the outcomes. Phelps proved that when he wore the lazer and others wore the better suits. he still won 8 olympic golds.

Exactly, it was the Americans who are always thinking up of ways of how to cheat to win because to them the only thing that counts is winning no matter how, so they invented that swimming suit that makes you float as if you were filled with air, thus that is not a world record, it is just another cheat. Bernard was a nobody in the era of non polyurethane suits then during the course of a year he worked towards this record, A record which would not even be close to as fast as it is without the suit. Not all of the French wore suits that have now been demmed illegal. Leveaux wore a TYR (American) suit in the previous semi-final, a suit which has been approved.

Also, these suits aren't being worn exclusively by the French. Most of the swimmers on the NCAA winning Auburn team wore Jaked. Cullen Jones wore the Jaked at Charlotte last week, and Aaron Piersol was wearing the same Arena suit as Alain Bernard.

Jason Lezak is the best relay anchor ever. Your calculations is probally right and lazak swam the fastest 100 freestyle ever, but to do sub 47 induvidually, not feeding off the adrenaline and emotions of a reelay is nothing short of amazing. (If the new suit is legal)

Yeah, we don't know what the Americans are capable now. They always have got something up their sleeves, but from what I see they don't have many strong sprinters compared to the French. Jason Lezak is probably too old and the US will have to rely on Michael Phelps and Garett Weber Gale. The rest are probably doing above 48.0s. On the other hand, the French quartet all are capable below 48.0s with Alain Bernard doing 46.94. I say France has the advantage.

Technique plays a part but strength and stamina will come from youth. That's the reason most of the winners standing on the podium are all in their mid twenties or so. Dara Torres is an exceptional case and her winning medals in the Olympics is something quite rare, although not impossible. We will see if Jason Lezak will continue to swim for the US team. Most choose to retire when they feel age is not at their side, just like Hoogenband who retired after losing embarassingly in Beijing..

Do I have to remind you that FINA does not recognize WR for relay splits? 46.06s in the final leg is not done from stationary start so swimmer can lean over as the preceding swimmer is coming in which gives an advantage. Lezak's personal best is 47.58s throughout is entire swimming career.

Lezak may be too old going into the next Olympics. Read carefully.

Lezak has never gone faster than Sullivan and Bernard in the 100m free in history.
