The woman performs abysmally. A strong argument in the woman's position would be that the ISP's want to take away "rights", something that this country, in a large sense, has had a difficult time doing (the rights taken away by amendments have been the "right" to own slaves, and the right to drink). Kellerman does a good a job with such horrific material to work against, and the Gates point is valid as it adequately describes the position of the ISPs-they want more $ from their investment.
Ok, most people here think that government regulation is a good thing. Why is it ok for the government to put their controls on EVERYTHING. It is the most direct path to tyranny. Leave the free market free! If you don't like your provider then switch to one of the smaller ISP's. Using the government as a tool to keep you safe from the free market will only result in your loss of freedom. The gov. wants a foothold to start even more internet regulation. Don't follow like sheep.
@calapanpo You don't have to purchase from those companies either. Your voice in this is your purchasing power. Besides don't you find it odd that everyone is worried about this because of a Google//Verizon partnership that would "slow" down the internet. Yet Google has put in alot of money to lobby for Net Neutrality..? You have no idea how much paperwork this is going to put on ISP's who in turn are going to roll the costs on to you the consumer.
@raininginhell I find it strange that when Net Neutrality is in favor, Google loves it, yeah, Google is totally into Net Neutrality they're "the good guys". And then when it's in doubt, Google and Comcast file lawsuits challeging it.
The ISP's spent the money to lay the cable and build the infrastructure and keep it maintained. However we want the government (who fails at every project they manage) to come in and regulate ISP's and tell them hey you can't manage your own network by imposing QoS. (Which most are already not doing) Because we the government know better than you! How do you think the FCC is going to impose this regulation? By just putting their ear to the wire? No they are going to do it with tons of paperwork!
That girl should have rehearsed more... or just be a geek.
Anyways, any poor people who may stumble on this, make sure you get your friends and family to vote against net censorship. as its a major corporate ploy to only allow access to what THEY want.
Max doesn't get it. I know he's trying to play devil's advocate here but the truth is as a user of the net I want to be able to read from all sources, buy from all sources, not just from those companies who pay the most to keep their sites streaming the fastest. It's about open information but once again big business wants to shove the little guy (who by the way may have the most unobstructed information) behind them never to be seen by the masses.
CNN are self rightious media hungry whore CUNTS! (at least from what I've seen: you want to know what I seen? I see people who report on the facts just in time for them to be COIMPLETELY IRREVERSABLE.... YOU DUMB FUCKERS THINK YOU"RE GETTING AWAY SCOTT FREE>???? THINK AGAIN BITCH!!!
Holy crap that was the worst explanation of net neutrality i have heard yet. Using Bill Gates as an example was even worse considering he stole the original Windows OS. lol. Net neutrality is nothing more then ISP's being able to prioritize internet traffic. They will be allowed to slow down, speed up or not let you connect at all to a specific website. They can slow down or speed up or block Email from different providers. Basically your ISP decides what you get to see and do on the internet.
@Freenetnow - Yes, a terrible segment, but nek0s's understanding of Net Neutrality is completely opposite to what it actually is. Read my comment to him, then, if you really want to know what Net Neutrality is, read the Wikpedia "Net Neutrality" article, paying good attention to the opinions of both the opponents and proponents of Net Neutrality. For me, specifically because in fact it is OPPOSITE to nek0s's understanding, Net Neutrality is a good thing.
@BigMTBrain I could have worded my post a little different to be more clear. Net neutrality is just a term for regulation of the internet. If you are pro net neutrality you want to keep the internet basically as it is now. If you are against Net Neutrality you want ISP's to spoon feed you internet content, block content they do not condone, charge extra for access to other networks... In other words it's a big money grabbing scam.
@nek0s - Hmm... "Net neutrality is nothing more then ISP's being able to prioritize internet traffic. They will be allowed to slow down, speed up or not let you connect at all to a specific website." Can't be much clearer than that, but, okay, your new wording is on target.
@nek0s - Oops! You got it completely backwards didn't you. Net Neutrality is specifically NOT ALLOWING ISPs to prioritize Internet traffic (metering traffic from or to this or that domain), but only allowing them to create tiers of bandwidth service. From the ISP perspective, the Bill Gates analogy was spot on and exactly what they would want you to believe. ISPs are AGAINST Net Neutrality because they want to control what is going through any pipe rather than setting agnostic pipe sizes.
i cant stand CNN news they just are so annoying!

Why is it okay for big buisness to control EVERYTHING? They don't want what's best for you, they want profits.
Which means slowing down or blocking any and all competition. Net Neutrality puts everyone on equal footing.

Pirates of Silicon Valley - Bill Gates stole ideas for Windows from Apple. Horrible analogy. Another example of misinformed anchors.
