Does the archos 404 come with any cables so you can record right from the tv or do you have to buy a cord for that? how did it break and how how long did it last?
These dont cost that much I think, because they're 4th gen and there are 5th gen now so they've come down in price. You can get them about for about 60% of the price they were when they came out here.
i noticed u didnt follow the instructions which say to charge the Archos b4 turning it on :P i have an Archos 404 Camcorder but im sure it has that same instruction. for $50 more u could have gotten the Camcorder/Camera 1 at least where i live u could have. neways i think ur parents saved $30 getting u that since the 30GB Ipod video is $250 unlike the 404 which is $220, again where i live it is :P
I have been searching and searching around the internet to find one thing...does the archos 404 have RCA input? Like, can you plug in those red, white, and yellow wires to it and record something?
you can do all that, but you need to buy the DVR station for 100 bucks, but is totally worth it, once you have it you can record/play from/to anything!

i brought archos 404 same model as ur in E bay loaded with 100 videos its much better than stupid ipod becoz it can records from TV with dock station

No its all over you probably didn't hear about it because I think its a French company there for more well known in places like Europe.

no it dosnt come with those cables...and mi archos still works but the power botton is jammed so I can turn it on or off. It lasted a hole year,

the case it comes with i dont like much since if i put it in like it should the buttons get pressed so i put it in with the buttons sticking out :P

The 604 has a 4.3 inch screen, the 404 only has a 3 inch screen (even though archos says it has a 3.5 inch screen, i measured and they are wrong).

no it is 3.5 the measure diagonaly ( srry for my speeling). They measure from the top left to the bottom right.
