Well he's right that is the best way to get out. Everyone wants a magical solution to get out of the triangle. Sure there are ways to "attempt" to get out. But the first thing is not letting your posture get broken down in the first place so you don't have to worry about some escape.

@Ninearm ....exactly, too many schools give out belts too fast, I respect a guy whos been training 10 years and is a brown belt over someone who got a black belt in 5, too many (in mine and many others opinions) didnt truly earn their rank, but were rather handed it because the school wanted to make a name for itself.

Very true...Also, some guys have very strong attributes that over compensate for what they lack. They may be super strong, super athletic, etc., however, these attributes will only get you so far. A TRUE black belt's skill is not based on such physical traits. Their masters at of technique, efficiency, strategy, conserving energy, etc. You can feel this when you grapple them. In any position, they use virtually no effort, are completely passive, and can submit you at will.

Its true man Demian is brillant. My brother is a Brown belt under Maia and his guys are super solid. Not only is mir a class act but so is Maia met him a few times he stayed with us for three days when he was doing a seminar at my bros gym.

forget that its Drysdale for a second, and imagine you go to a competition to learn from the best. And there you see the trainer. And you've defeated him on points in a previous tournament. Is that not even the slightest bit funny? I think Drysdales awesome, I recognise him as the worlds best ju jitsu practicioner, I just think its a funny scenario is all.

Interesting point to this, Mirs's team member Vinicius Maghalaes actually beat Robert Drysdale at LAX 2006 grappling tournament. I know, you cant win em all, and with different rules in different tournaments, sometimes your at a disadvantage.

But I think its funny, you come here to train with the best, and you;ve beaten the guy said to be the best.
