@toogawnjawn Erm actually there's alot of music that comes over from Europe, especially British, like say Jay Sean, Scorpions (who are also German), it's just they all speak English even if they're not from Britain so it can be marketable in America. That's what makes Rammenstein unique, they don't hide it and they're able to make the music popular when people don't know what they're saying.

My guess is that Rammstein has been your only exposure to German. Please learn the language before you decide that you can translate better than other people.

@Triloh Well I have taken german for 5 years of my life and I know that when translating from on language to another, you translate it so that it is gramaticaly correct in the new language. And as far as I can tell "God knows i want to be no angle." is not gramaticaly correct in english. So plesae learn how to translate before you go complaining about how others go about do it.

@lineinf332 Sure, when you're are trying to make it make perfect sense, but he specifically said a literal translation. Please, don't try to correct those that are already correct. But, if you actually knew German you could say that it wasn't a literal translation. A liter translation would be word-for-word, and for "Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein", it would be "God know I want no Angel be" or, if you want it to make sense, "God knows I don't want to be an angel."

@MrFromUSA this whole thing came from the fact that the others were discussing "proper translation" be it what was intended literalaly or gramatically correct, i was only correcting to the gramatically correct english version, and as to knowing german i knew nothing of the english translation in the vid i just get the vid and listen whilst doing other things so all i hear is the correct german version, but thank you for the comment

"ein Glas Tee" translates "a glass of tee"

"kein Glas Tee" translates "no glass of tee"

It makes more sense if you include a helping verb such as "haben" or "sein," which mean have or be.

"Ich habe ein Glas Tee" means "I have a glass of tea."

"Ich habe kein Glas Tee" means "I don't have a glass of tea."

or

"Ich bin ein Junge" means "I am a young boy."

"Ich bin kein Junge" means "I am not a young boy."

In most cases you can't do a word for word translation into English and make it fit the song or sound good.
