  • dragster= wheels engine and a seat xD

  • The Freight Train's success in the 1960's (twin small block Chevys) convinced everyone that twins could work successfully. Unfortunately when the NHRA did away with top gas (AA/GD) that did away with twin powered cars because no one in AA/FD ever had any success with two motors.

  • all that for what? A burnout launch? Wow, nice

  • I wonder how much hp it had.

  • speed guage is in increments of mach!

  • uhh can this guy see down the track?

  • @blitxzar UHHH NO. Evidently youve never experienced high G acceleration and what it does to human eyesight. You think these drivers can see? BWAHAHAHAHA...

  • If you can't hook up all the HP don't help lol

  • @gurn58 LOL, thats why the stands were full back in the day. You keep hookin up, and the fans that pay the purse will keep getting thinner and thinner...

  • So cool! I remember My Dad taking us to Irwindale Raceway in Ca. Good Time's .

  • After all that ?

  • --- Now we know what they use Marvel Mystery Oil for. Squirt, squirt...Braaaam, Brap, Brap, Brap, Brap, Ba, Brap, Brap

  • tyr fryr

  • That car is probably faster with one of those engines than both of them. The dual motor concept was cool but they always made way more torque than they could ever hope to put on the pavement

  • Thats not fair! I want a hemi and hes got two!

  • too much power ....

  • fuckin baddddddd asssssss

  • thats crazy

  • Nagyo jó!

  • Vern Motes?

  • Ray Motes and RC Williams

  • Ray Motes and RC Williams

  • Lmao, Like sitting behind two fat women at the movie theater. X(

  • LOL

  • ha i lov it! how is the guy going to see!!!

  • You could tell it took like NO THROTTLE to do the burnout.

  • Too much motor for them there vintage slicks! Betcha that thing would haul it on some T/F Eagles!

  • Check out some of the other 11 video clips of this car and you will see different tires on the car in some of them

  • yeah but thats the way it was when that car ran. they run these things in nostalgia drag racing to be as close to the way they were then as possible. its a crying shame they dont have a top gas dragster class in th nhra anymore

  • I was expecting to see TWICE the performance. Hmm. Thanks for sharing!

  • Don Rickles for President!

  • Enjoyed

  • THIS is what drag racing was all about!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Still dont get why they limit these nostalgia diggers to such small slicks.I know they're period correct but they need BIGGER slicks.

  • Check out some of my other videos of this car. We did put on bigger slicks.

  • @TheoneGodfather Its alot more fun to watch em smoke them bastards the entire length of the track. I grew up during the 60-70s. Look at the stands then -vs-today. theres a reason their empty today.

  • @Tarten46 Eh,you've got a point there.Just let your hair grow out and nobody'll ever find out.

  • Helps to read. Says that was the first time out with the car since it was restored. It`s not easy to just go out and make a full-pull with that much power.

  • it will still has the same top speed... but twice the power.

  • Where are they...? What kind of drag strip is that...? I don't see any facilities, just some kind of metal sided industrial buildings there...

  • oh shit! two engine. what's engine? ford?

  • where the hell is the rear pig on this car? i would not want to be sitting on it if it decided to blow out cmon now lol

  • Sure wish they'd bring the Top Gas class back again......would be "sweet" to see these slingshots compete again.

  • can i put that in my honda?

  • please find a way to... i wanna see what happens to the frame when you do.

  • you can put them in the car(instead of the driver and all), reinforcing the chassis. and since it's only a drag car you'd make it R/C:)

  • yea you'd really have to beef up the frame... and find a wheely bar

  • a wheelie bar? more like adding another civic attached to the back

  • @lundsay Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good engine by putting it in a honda? Those cars have 4 bangers for a reason. I just love how people throw tuns of money at them and still get spanked by a chevelle with a stock engine.

  • Talk about putting something exciting between your legs... the driver has stones....

  • oo... to much torque

  • Tractor pulling with 4 motors is impressive too.

  • dont need no weelie bars for that thing

  • Saw this car run exhibition passes against the Paris twin rear engine dragster at the Hot Rod Reunion V (5) in 2004 - same track, Great Bend KS. This is one of the coolest slingshots ever- I'm real lucky to have seen it.

I know most people will call BS, but I was standing about 20 feet behind the tree for a round of junior fuel, open fuel, and top fuel, as well as these cars, on Saturday night. Absolutely incredible rush having one of these start a burnout less than 10 feet from you.

  • this monster makes it look like it takes nuffin to get those slicks spinning

  • lol that's what i was thinking, talk about trying to keep your foot out of it.

  • hahaha talk about smoking the tires

  • Tinha que ser coisa de americano retardado mesmo...

  • That sucks the tires didnt hook up.And it looks like the engines where different.

  • It IS critical that the engines are identical and balanced. They are connected via crank link 180 deg out from one another. As for not hooking up... This is typical of the old skool dragsters. That's primitive tire and chassis technology.

  • Cool dragster! One thing I could never figure out. How do they couple the engines up? How do they time the engines to run together?

  • lots of tuning...Basically they have to run perfectly identical.

  • It's not that critical actually. You could connect two very different engines and get it to work. Lets say a small two stroke and a huge V8. But! the max rpms of the "slowest" engine must not be exceeded. Every engine will give what it can.

  • THERE IS A DRIVER an no rad cuz it prolly run on alcohol or methanol they burn cool

  • RETARD!

  • i never saw the point in the twin engie dragster twice as much work and more weight not as fast it looked cool for sure

  • No driver? No radiator? Who are these people, seriously, asking stupid questions like that?

  • are you blind? He's in the back

  • look way in the back

  • no radiator?

  • not sure...

  • looks like push bike wheels on the frount

  • you dont

  • where are thoes old styl front dragsters at?

  • That's from wayyyy mach when drag racing was'nt lame.

  • red

  • Horsepower Profiles. Com

    Brag A Little

  • I bet those framerails have to be built fairly tough to handle the weight. That thing had to much power for its own good, spun em' off the line anyways. Pretty cool though, gotta give them credit.

  • I guess you could call this a V16 couldn't you.

Just sick! Bad ass for sure!

  • how can u see where your going? the engines are in the way

  • Why would you need to see, you can see the wall. Just hold the wheel straight if you head for a wall hold the fuck on.

  • ya, you don't need to see when you are going in a straight line

  • how can you see with a gigantic tire cloud in your face

  • anybody remember the twin engine dragster that had a school bus shell on it, now that was cool.

  • big ass balls

  • I Love classic dragsters! Thanks for posting this vid.

  • Nice Hemis!

  • Nice Car! Does it have "ah" 2 hemis in it? Ha Ha!

  • Now that I have read more of the comments... Nice job on the restore!!! It takes guts to sit behind that beast! I remember watching these as a kid...Respect to you!

  • I didn't think anyone ran anything with the power plant out in front since the 70's. Must be a show car, Nice Machine!

  • Thats because of safety concerns like when your blower shatters into a million pieces where do you think the pieces are gonna go ....Right in your face at 200+ MPH

  • Big Daddy got his toes/feet cut off and designed rear engine.

  • is that confusing? what if one engine is running and the other one is just spinning

  • cranks are fused making a 16 cylinder engine basically

  • fused as in welded or a short shaft between the 2?what about a side by side app? like a sled puller how are they hooked up?

  • nuts

  • Instant tire smoke!

  • how sweet it is, not one badass motor but two yessssss!!!!

  • Had an uncle that ran a twin engine digger in the Cleveland area in the 60's and early 70's. Name was Mike Tinik and the car was called the Golden Gem. Looking for any info, pics if you old timers have any. Merry Xmas

  • are those big block hemis and is it your mrbob55

  • The engines started out life as cast iron 392 hemi's. Bored and stroke, both are in the 440 range. The car is owned by RC Williams. A great place to find info about this car, check out the Colorado Racing Memories on the web.

  • How do they connect the engines is it via:

    Custom crank to crank driveshaft.

Custom geared crank to crank box

    Belt system

  • A handmade splined coupler connects the two engines. Both engines hit No 1 cylinder at the same time.

  • Oh my God.. Where were you kids back in the 60's? I was into Drag Racing and believe me, you would have seen some of the wierdous looking shit in your life. This was the test period of drag racing, and everything was tried. What about Tommy Ivo's four engine dragster. Love it, love it, love it...

  • Absolutely. Remember the Green Monster? Allison V-16. Those were wonderful days. 427 Fairlanes, 426 Mopars with loopy headers, etc., etc. I was there and loved it! (Atco Dragway, N.J.)

  • What type of fuel were they using?

  • Back in 1970 and 71 this car ran in the Top Gas Class, used gasoline for fuel. Today the tank is

    filled with alcohol.

  • oh man...slingshot from hell...

  • lol, never seen anything like that, nice video.

  • 2 V8 engine`s mounted on a small car thats a lot of horse power

  • WOW!!!!THIS IS GOLD*THNX 4 D VID M8*i,ve never seen 1.but this is sweet*****

  • twin hemi motors gotta love it.

    mopar #1

  • damn straight..got a Dart and a Charger..know allllll about it..yee haw

  • that is INSANE!!

  • lol that will pwn import cars anyday. thats why domestics are the best. raw power.

  • you realise that rx7's and toyota dragsters run 6 seconds passes rite?

  • This is a machine from a different era.

  • the comment was, "lol that will pwn import cars anyday". Im not saying its a bad car or anything.

  • Shit no ear protection.

  • MasterKronik... your an idiot, The engines have a solid handmade splined coupler between them, both engines hit No 1 TDC at the same time. no need for 2 starters, what one does the other does

  • holy shmoly

  • great video

  • Wow ! Takes me back to the 60's and Tommy Ivo

  • i don;t get it tho, would this not just have a HUGEEE amount of torque?...like so much torque, all u'd get it wheel spin?

  • How do you go about running twin engine? Is the crank from the front engine hooked to the crank in the rear engine or what? I mean..how do you have both gearboxed and connected to the rear axel.

  • The engines have a solid handmade splined coupler between them, both engines hit No 1 TDC at the same time. Today from the clutch to the rear axle its a direct drive with a reverser, back in 70 and 71 when this car set the world record (7.03 at 211.76) ET and speed marks for Top Gas it had a 2 speed and no reverser.

  • yea i was asking myself the same question :S

  • How does she corner?

ROFL that is wild. Good god!

  • there's no room under my bonnet for 2 engine like that...LOL

  • can this dragster drive? okei it's can!

  • JESUS ! nice build guys ..

  • Man that looks like fun!

  • how dose it start both engines?

  • They are connected, so if you get one to lite it will spin the other one fast enough to lite.

  • two starters duh
