To those who have insulted the creator of this video: does the recipe have to b exact? Do u hav to be Asian to make this dessert? No! There r no rules in cooking telling u wat u can and cant do! Its part of being creative! If u cant handle true creativity suck it up, dont waste ur time insulting, and go away, if ur gonna bad mouth someones hard work!

  • You put them into boiled water but other people say thay you have to steam it.Do it changes the endproduct?

  • @kumi12341

You kinda can't buys a mochiko in a regular store like walmart... You can only buy the mochiko in an asian store..

  • Is it possible to make the pink dango with anko in the middle?

  • Lol "The complete ghetto way to make dango!"

  • I tried these on the recipe of Cooking with dog, but they failed.. i tried it 5 times and it sucked like hell. Then inside was still too firm and the outside you could half see through it :S. And they tasted horrible. So i am not sure what went wrong but i tried the Cooking with dog Repice :S

  • this vid is making me want to try making some. but i dont kno where to buy the mochiko. i dont kno if it would be in a Big Y, Super Walmart, or even Stop n' Shop.

  • If you're wondering...mochiko=glutinous rice flour. You can find it in your local Asian Market :P

  • wow thanks so much! Noone has showed me how to make Dango and now i know how!! THANK YEWWW!~!~!~!~

  • don't they float when there done

  • ^_^

  • when they are done are they supposed to be gooey

  • Mochiko is basically rice flour right? I don't think there are any asian markets near me

    ^_^;

  • @Gryffindor0Slytherin

Mochiko is Glutenous Rice flour, if you just use Rice flour whatever you make will not be stretchy.

  • @Gryffindor0Slytherin It's sweet rice flour. A little different, since normal rice flour isn't sweet at all.

  • @Gryffindor0Slytherin you can usually order it online, it'll be sent to your home- ORDER IN MASS QUANTITY!!!!

  • Nice. (: Thanks for uploading this. Don't worry too much about teh dough, it's hard to shape sometimes. x) Now I can buy me some Mochiko & make some yumyums. xD

  • ummm what is mochico?

  • umm aren't the green and red dango supposed to be ummm flavored?

  • well i think the traditional are red green and white, however you can make any colored dango, and any flavor.

  • There are about as many ways to flavor and color Dango as there are L cosplays at any given anime convention. Traditionaly in the simple red/white/green dango the white are unflavored, the red are dyed and the green ones are mixed with green tea powder! (It's very good.)

  • Though you had it dead on in the video it's really up to the maker's taste.

  • @pretymisty14

What makes you think you are a good source of information on this subject? You aren't even asian, just a hugely obese american girl who wants to be japanese. Don't be bastardizing asian dessert la!

  • @pretymisty14 Even a quick Wikipedia search reveals that Bocchan dango is dango that has three colors: One is colored by red beans, the second by eggs, and the third by green tea. I'm annoyed I watched this video now.

  • The red dango should be flavoured with red bean paste, and the green with green tea.

  • @startitangirl the traditional green dango is suposed to be flavored with green tea and the red is suposed to be made with a japanese red been paste called azuki bean paste, which is very sweet

  • @startitangirl My guess is that the green one is usually flavored with matcha (green tea, usually a fine powder to mix easy into things) and the red one is most likely mixed with a red bean paste, or at least the liquid from the paste to mix in and make a "red" color - This is just a guess, but it would go in accordance with color and japanese flavors often used in foods

  • where can you buy mochiko??

  • You can buy them at probably any asian mart. ^^;

  • okey tnx ^^ but dont think we have something like that around here:P

  • what is mochiko?!?

  • It's gleutenous rice flour. Regular rice flour wont work, I've tried =]

  • rice flour

  • Is there an easier to find alternitave to mochiko?

  • you remind my of my friend, it makes me smile XD

  • DON'T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS XD

  • Can you make this with regular flour? I live in missouri.. not many asian food stores :[

  • NO! rice flour only. you dont have to use mochiko but if you do use reg rice flour you have to put 1 tsp of corn starch or potato starch to one cup of rice flour i do beileve.

  • @blooooo100 you could get mochiko in a normal grocery store down the international foods section :]

  • Where can i buy MOCHIKO????????

  • lol

at ur local asain food grocer~ or check

    Asian food grocer online

  • i got mine at a koreon oriental market

  • Mochiko is just soy bean flour just so you know *^^

  • @LizzieBorden9898

I get mine at Fresh Market aka albertsons!

  • @LizzieBorden9898 i bought my mochiko at Food 4 Less lol they sell it at a good price:)

  • how can you roll the balls without the dough sticking to you and makingit impossible and becoming a pile of gunk? i think i used too much water, but if i used less it would be powdery, or is that ok?

  • lol :D the trick is how u mix it togeather :D u need to mix and kneed the water in very slowly.. i kno it takes a bit of patients XD and lemme c.. its prolly sticky cuz u added the water too fast. and to keep it from sticking to ur hands, just put some mochiko on ur hands, that should do the trick.

  • ok thx ill try that

  • thanks for this vid its very helpful :D i heard youre supposed to eat dango right after you make it- is it not good if you save it and eat it later?

  • lol well ive saved em for l8erz but.. i guess they dont taste as good if they r not warm =o

  • mmm damn that looks good ^_^ ...... -.- damn now um hungry for dango and i dont have any of that flour T.T

  • haha

    lmfao

    u play maple??O.O

  • 0.0;;;;;;; Maple Story? ya. Plz keep your comments relevent to the vid lest i delete them, and keep them productive.. Lest I show you what a dexless hermit would do ^_~

  • Mochiko is just sweet rice flour. So you can simply take normal rice flour and 1/3 cup suggar, how it`s described in the video.

  • 0.0;;; mochi is normal nice flour i though :x well i dunno.. i sed mochiko and i had to add even more sugar DX Mochiko its really special i dont think you can replace it.

  • where do u get mochiko?

  • online or at your local asian food grocer

  • china town. :] maybe.... yea.

thats where my mom used to get it.

  • r these meant to be hanamidango? cos the pink should be koshian, green should be yomogi or matcha and the red should be adzuki, contact me if you'd like the recipe! ^_^

but the food colouring is a creative way to do it if you cant get those ingredients!

it will turn out much better if you try to get them though, just try!

  • i would love that recipe!! can you please send it to me?? you can email it through youtube.

    thanks!

  • i owuld like that recipe! :3

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!

i've been waiting for a long time for a video exactly like this.

  • Do you figure it will work if you just use rice flower?

  • huh? what do u mean just? w/o sugar? w/o dye? at least u need water and mochiko

  • What she means is, can you use just PLAIN rice flour? Mochiko is glutinous rice flour, and yes, there is a difference. So the answer is no, you cannot use just regular rice flour, it has to be Mochiko.

  • is it suppose to be so sticky when you make it?

  • thanx yoo ^^

  • can u use regular flour>?

  • no, but u can buy it online at an online asian grocer.

  • o.o hmm yum
