I also love how they made movement fluid and slow in the EVAs, making them move almost realistically, showing how big and heavy they are. In Gundam, the mechs move fast as if they were made of paper. It's cool for action scenes, but to me, I personally like the realism in the movements of the EVAs more.

Different people have different views on EVA and it's symbolism. I, myself, am not sure what Anno and the directors of EVA meant to show viewers by doing the live-action footage. I have some ideas on why, but not enough to hold a solid thesis. But I can explain why people turned to "jello". I'll message you about it, I'd rather not talk about it here and chance spoiling EVA for other people. :]

NGE is a very good anime, Slayer94. Its been out for quite a while, so you should be able to find torrents and whatnot pretty easily. I highly recommend it. Be warned, though, it will fuck with your mind. It is, as you observed, pretty creepy at times. But definitely awesome. GREAT VID BTW!!
