  • If i want a good double bass how much I have to pay for it?

  • Very simple concise and useful demo thanks!

  • I was able to emulate this by smacking my table with my keyboard.

  • @catolupus ME TOO! We should start a band!!!

  • lame!!!! i don't think this guy knows what hes talking about check my videos out and that's a much more real way to play than looking like a damn soldier when playing this is Mr. stiffy hahahaha

  • Excellent! A "Mighty Wind" tutorial video by Mark Shubb of The Folksmen, showing us all how to make triple slapping look harder than it is.

  • Always I'm looking for online lessons these viral Expert Village stuff appears...

  • was this filmed thtough a keyhole?

  • He plays bass like he grows beards.

  • stfu what a fuck up nvm thpp

  • these expert village plonkers talk too much...this idiot should stick to planting seeds and growing veg

  • haha he looks like he has to peexD

  • How do people who play that carry it around? Thats bigger than the man him self. Why dont you just go and buy a bass guitar lol i dont see the sense in buyin that big old thing.

  • @lightbrown95

because some people want to play music like this: Roman Patkolo and Maxim Vengerov :)

  • I payed 1,499 for mine. Got some rotosounds on that bitch!

  • HOW MUCH WOULD A DOUBLE BASS COST

  • i payed 2.8k for mine

  • $500 and up

  • @trspinner i wouldnt pay less than 700 for an upright

maybe if it was from a friend and i knew it had a good sound and wasnt fallin apart

  • I play an upton I payed about $10,000 for mine.

  • The cheapest I've seen'em is around $550

  • At least 2000 if you're serious.

You can go cheaper if you want something made of pure suck.

  • @vanhelm13 You gotta shop around a little. I picked up a used Christopher hybrid with a bag and a bow for $1500 a couple of years ago and she hasn't steered me wrong. The wood's opened up a lot since then and it really is a lovely-sounding bass.

  • hi, there. a double bass will vary greatly in cost. I would recommend avoiding the NEW UPRIGHT BASSes made in china that are so available on eBay. after that they start at about $800, used and go as high as you like. good luck.

  • thanks dude! your lessons have really been helpful to me! you play dang good bass too!!

  • Comment removed

  • did you get your double bass?

  • Comment removed

  • why is everyone in ''expert village'' so strange?

  • Look at Brad Ber's upright. Best bass player in the world.

  • playing for 5 years, awesome fun

  • omg really??

    wat you are sooo awesome!!

nd yea i want to but they are expensive :(

  • man, you look like a crazy scientist or something, but you fucking rock on bass!! congrats man......

  • are you sure this is a triple slap looks more like what i have been calling a double. but i don't keep up with the fancy names. i just know i can do alot more slaps per note than that i and never call anything a quad slap. i might have to post a video and see what you guys think the other slaps i am doing are called.

  • wow that thing is huge nd im only

    5'3 man!!

but i seriously want to play that

    :(

Shadowsi ... ur sooooo lucky to one as a birthday gift man!

  • get a half size bass

  • I'm having a bloody hard time with my double bass. It was a birthday gift so I didn't really get to try it out first. I think it's too big for me because I can only play it while wearing a pair of breakneck heels.

  • Never heard of Charles Mingus huh?

  • He should stick to lobster fishing.

  • @monkeylovedump That reminds me when i played runescape in 4th grade.. Lobster fishing.. haha thats what he looks like too..

  • @hellyeah0136 LMFAO xDDD

  • All of these expert village videos always suck, no matter the subject.

  • @mrmonkey14

i think it's some kind of joke, maybe a large prank on the whole youtube community. =T

  • @mrmonkey14 I have to agree, most, if not all of these expert village lessons are very sub-par, as far as bass lessons go. I still wonder if they're some kind of joke, like someone pranking the bass community. I hope no kids try to emulate any of their techniques, because they'll have to unlearn most of them.

  • @davidhilton exactly. I'm a bassist myself, and though I've only played a stand-up bass a handful of times, I'm very proficient on the electric bass, and a lot of the techniques for both stand up and electric bass are just plain wrong.

  • @mrmonkey14 Not always, but this one is the worst lesson i've ever seen! Now, i have never actually owned a doghouse bass, but i have slapped one at a music shop. I can play bass, and this guy plays the doghouse worse than i do..

  • @mrmonkey14

They have to be experts at something right?

  • The hand motion has nothing to do with the sound, although if you have a second pickup behind the fingerboard, it offers a noticeable variation. Also, no one would play a triplet feel that slowly... that tempo would be much better suited to a 3-3-2 rhumba feel.

In "Slap Bass: The Ungentle Art" by Kevin Smith and Mark Rubin, they mention the use of circular motion to even out your time at slow tempos. That is all this guy is doing. Fast triplets naturally force the hand into a smaller area.

  • Yeah. i agree. That hand motion thing is useless, and it actually affects the sound of the slap. it makes it sound all buzzy, and might cause you to miss the strings. Also, can't gain no speed out of a hand motion like that.

  • not to rag on that guy, but changing the position of the slap usually sounds much different, Stanley Clarke does a great job of showing this

  • i agree, waste of motion and time

  • wtf is the point of moving your hand up the neck to slap again? total waste of time

  • The point is that it is easier to keep track of the subdivision you are creating by slapping the triplets. If you were to slap the same spot, it would be much easier to rush.

  • it also has a different sound, lower on the fingerboard is higher, and more towards the bridge is lower.

  • why are you all talking about what bass you have and not about how to slap,as hes talking about in the video-whatch and learn insted of just na na-ing -yab-yab-

  • Get a better bass! That's not so good!

Or a better style! Or strings!

  • Hello, bass players. i have been searching the internet for a cheap and decent upright bass. i came across one called the Florea Midnight Bass Outfit(3/4 size black). if anyone could give me some feedback on it, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

  • the body of mine caved in and i had to send it back

buy a local bass and spend a bit more money. the climate change and the workmanship on that bass will bite you in the ass in the long run

  • i have had a Florea for about 5 years now the back started to separate. but i don't take good care of it, it rides in the back of my pick up truck to gigs rain or shine and some snow . fixed it and haven't had any other problems and it still sounds good

  • Well here's the thing, it seems that these two below got good use out of it which is great, but after time a plywood bass deteriorates (it seems 5 years with good gig use). If you want to play for life, get real wood which only sounds better over time if well maintained. You're automatically looking at over 2000 dollars however, although for the money, if that bass lasts and plays well for 5 years... not bad.

  • hi guys check out theboomstand website

i just bought one and its perfect for dbl bass players

  • Huhh...it's terrible.

  • muchas gracias !!!
