I am amazed at the loyalty of the cast! This was over 20 years ago and still Ken, Deirdre, Rita, Emily, Gail, Audrey, Kevin, Sally and Steve all still with the show, and legends such as Jack, Vera, Mike and Liz only having departed the cobbles in the last three or four years. Quite remarkable. Doris Speed looks amazing here for 91.

Remember watching this when it came on, still have the full show on tape, but I dont remember it being shown on the 9th Dec of that year, I say that because the day after this we went to Granada studios for the 1st time, & this was on the 9th.Used to watch Corrie back then, not now thankgod, hate any soap. I know alot of people hate scousers, I can understand why, but they're all like that. Cilla Black is overrated & annoying. Bet Lynch somehow still thinks she's still in Corrie lol.

People were much nicer and respectful back then in 1990 than they are now. They wouldn't be nasty like the majority of you on youtube are right now. Cilla Black is a nice lady and they were all having a nice happy celebration. But people here are being mean just because Cilla Black messed up a little. So what! God I hate the nasty world we live in, where nasty comments towards nice people are made and get the highest rating as well. No need to be crude and mean!

Gawd help us when it hits 50! I trust they do a better job than this and they don't ask Cilly Black back to host (she must be the hostess with the biggest gob). But Doris Speed (RIP) was one of the best actresses on British TV. Thank goodness we have all her old episodes of Corrie to watch (thanks to Granada TV saving them in the days when most TV output was either live or recorded and wiped).

Doris Speed could have carried on as Annie Walker well into the late 1980's/early 1990's had her home not of been broken into, toppled by the revelation of her age at the time - both contributing factors to her departure. She appears in very good health here aproaching 91 years old.

@Messylin I agree about Cilla Black. That was terrible. All the years in the business, you think she would have learnt to be a better host than that. She seemed more worried about running out of time than allowing a few minutes for Doris to give a short speech. She also appeared false and as somebody else said, patronizing. A random member of the public could have done a better job that Cilla at hosting this, and to think of the money she must be on..
