I remember standing about 75 metres from a taxi'ing plane as a little kid, was about 10...I started waving and the pilots waved back...absolutely made my day haha :D

I remember when my dad used to take off when I was there, he always gave me a wave.. or if not used to give the wings a little side to side bank as if making the plane wave goodbye when he took off! (Cargo 757 no safety issue) Still some of my fondest memories!

windows open for alot of reasons, yell at sumone on the ground, reach out and wash your side, or just get some cool air in the cockpit during taxi....I will have my commercial pilot rating at the end of august, I hope to be one of the wavers one day lol
