Thank you and may GOD keep and protect you while you are out rail fanning. And may he bless you and ur family for all of time with honur and love

  • FREAKIN' SWEET.

  • man horns sound like shit nowadays compared to horns back then, stupid electronic horn control.

  • Awesome video!! I was born a month after this was taken! I have been a railfan my entire life I remember seeing alot of the old B&O and Chessie units when I was a kid although they were already owned by CSX. How things have changed!!

  • manned helpers. boy those were the days...

  • nice horn!

  • The WM did use Leslie S-5TRFs on both the GP35s and SD35s. The later GP9 orders came with pairs of them too...so yes, they did use Leslies prior to 1967

  • I believe Southern used M5s and the old-cast, 1st generation P5. The M5s needed to be tuned periodically to still sound good (and many railroads neglected to do that).

  • Alright, whatever. I'm not much of a WM historian, it seems that in the few WM videos I've seen their locomotives have Leslie S-5Ts.

  • Love that high hood Chessie!!

  • what kind of horn was on the WM SD40's don't hear that kind of horn on locos anymore on any other railroads except WM.

  • Leslie S5-T. WM was not the only railroad to use them. L&N, SCL, N&W, IC, and Santa Fe's passenger locos had them too.

  • that was actually a S3L on it. Not the original but still nice none the less.

  • Yeah, I guess. But WM typically used S-5Ts.

  • Nice catch. If only there was a time machine to see this once again in person!

  • I remember watching the old B&O locomotives fly by, they always looked spooky at night! R.I.P. C&O, B&O, Seaboard System, WM, Chessie System, Conrail, and all the others

  • Oh, this is SO cool! Further proof I was born about 20 years too late. Thanks!

  • whoops, you said SD45, it's an SD40, still nice catch tho, maybe 40-2, not familiar with WM's locos and #s

  • 7545 (former 7445) was only recently retired, as CSXT 4618. -Jeffrey

  • An old GP and a Wester Maryland! Nice
