  • starting out at :41 seconds what song starts here by the way?

  • @gdawg2100 thank you for your nice comment! The song that starts at 0:41 is called "Swallowtail Jig". I got the sheet music from a website called 8notes. If you type in Irish Jig Medley it should come up. All the best to you with pursuing violin :)

    -Rachel

  • i'm just starting out on the violin and this sounds AMAZING can you like post a tutorial or get some sheet music to me?

  • great playing!!! thank u for sharing.

  • très belle, il semble comme un mélange entre swallowtail gabarit et vieux blanchisseuse irlandaise Ai-je raison? J'espère que votre expérience va très loin! ^^

  • I like it, you did great, all I could play as when I was 12 was the spoons, now that I am 25 all I can play is the spoons.

  • wow not bad at all, why so many downvotes?

  • Nicely done!!!!

  • swallow tal jig is my personal favorite besides 'God Rest Ye Marry Gentlemen' and if you keep practicing you could get really good!! :D

  • Jolly good show

  • like it? Noooooooooooooooo I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!

  • I hope you learned to slow down. Even if it is a fast paced song sometimes you need to work up to the speed

  • i dont like it but maybe its just because i dont like irish music ??

  • Very good! Thanks for sharing your playing with us. Keep up the good work. :)

  • its sounds like swallowtail jig

  • this jig is irish washer woman according to my abc's of violin book :D

  • This is Swallowtail Jig isn't it? IF it is or not it's pretty good, keep going

    -Motzart :P

  • @sk8er4life67, Swallowtail Jig is one of the songs in this medley :)

    -Rachel

  • Beautiful! But eh... any chance you could play it for about three times as long? :)

  • amazing work :) your right hand seems uncomfy though, was it ever injured or something?

  • @iwuvpanda13, I broke my wrist once, but I think that it just looks uncomfortable because I was young and didn't know how to hold the bow very well.

    -Rachel

  • @BrilliantArtsyGirl hahaha you did an amazing job holding the bow :) since i'm so out of shape, i like to stretch the bow hand out before major preformances so it doesnt give out the impression that i'm stiff. you really did do a great job though :)

  • Im going to be geting a violin in about 7 days on my bday , so i dont know much about them but it doesnt sound like yours resonates sound the right way , or maybe its the room , but anyways great playing i like it.

  • nice try :D

  • It's beautiful. Thank You !

  • Fantastic!

  • keep working on it

    use more of your bow

  • Where is this sheet music at?

  • @iloveroi5, you can give 8notes.com a try:)

    -Rachel

  • how long were yu playing when yu made this vid?

  • @MennacetoSociety, 5 years:)

    -Rachel

  • @BrilliantArtsyGirl nice :]

  • Lovely. ^^

  • Segui asi!!! exelente!!!

  • Yeah...the sound is a bit off like other people said, but I also think the pace is off. You should invest in a metronome if you don't have one already. But keep it up...and perhaps save for a new violin.

  • Great start! Keep practicing!

  • @BrilliantArtsyGirl I never made any comment directly toward your violin other thn the tone sounds like a factory chinese model. You being a violinist also have to be able to tell tht the tone isnt as powerful as a nice hand crafted violin.

  • @pmbazman15 I know, I was only kidding around:) I know that my violin doesn't have the best tone, but I also believe that the true magic happens when you use something that isn't the best and make something brilliant!:D You know?

    -Rachel

  • @BrilliantArtsyGirl but in order to be truly amazing your equipment has to support you i should know i also play th violin and the craftsmen ship makes all the diffrence!!

  • @CursingLlama. you should never buy a garbage violin even starting off. this violin on the vid sounds chinese and you can tell its not very good based on the tone. always buy italian or german handmade

  • @pmbazman15, don't be dissing my violin. I agree that you shouldn't buy a crappy violin, but there's nothing wrong with mine.

    -Rachel

  • cool

  • fa proprio skifo!!!!!!!! ma andatevene a fanculo!!!

  • well done, girl!

btw, do you know where I can find the sheet music for this piece?

  • You can find it every where, just search for Irish washerwoman, thats the first jig

  • Great job! I picked up the fiddle at age 50, took lessons for two years. You're way ahead of me!

  • Good job! I know the first two are Irish Washer women and Swallowtail jig. I think you should try to use a it more bow and some of the note sounded a little flat. Other that that, it was good.

  • i play the cello!!

  • well done

  • well, yur fast but its soooooo choppy. im learnin the swallowtail jig and ture, yur bow is not the size of r pencil. slow down. too fast. good job though

  • lol, I play the same Irish jig nowadays. Maybe I could upload my own version so you can compare ;-)

  • I know a jig is meant to be fast but you need to SLOW DOWN. Your missing out some of the notes. Very good though, keep up the hard work. I also play the violin and am starting to learn the cello! wish me good luck!

  • I have played that exact song before... Lol

Like 4 or 5 years ago...

I'm sure you are a lot better now but one thing you should always remember is that the bow isn't the size of a pencil you should use it all and you will get a much better sound out of it..

    Happy playing...

And stick with it, it is truly an amazing instrument...

  • wow! very nice!!

    and wonderfully done :)

    keep practising :D

  • very good effort. keep practicing. well done

  • Pretty fair, but im sure a couple guiness would make it incredible ;-)

  • nice but not "incredible" as the title suggests but still good!

  • more bow ;-)

  • Thanks everyone for the advice:)

    -Rachel

  • Hey that's very good! keep playing. i suggest a metronome, i used to have a lot of trouble with speeding up. and when i was starting out i thought everything should be played fast, until and old fiddler told me "a true master doesn't need to play it at breakneck speed to make it sound good"

    that always stuck with me.

    Your intonation is excellent!

  • thats good but don´t do speed you are out of tune practice more slowly and better try to tune but that's good practice more

  • you go in a good path... continua adelante!!

  • Is this a variant of the swallowtail jig?

  • Yes it is:) Swallowtail Jig and The Irish WasherWoman:)

    -Rachel

  • I think you should more bow....

  • around 0:37 you started speeding up a bit, but otherwise good ^^

  • I'm just learning the first few bars of this and you're cool! Thanks for posting :-)

    Anna x

  • That was really cool! :)

  • Always enjoyed that particular song. I was thinking of picking up the violin (or rather I just ordered a cheap one that won't likely last that long) I was just curious what kind of violin your using?

  • Well, its basically just your everyday violin. It's full size (there's also like quaarter, half, and three quarter sizes). The sound quality of the instrument depends on how well the instrument was made, and the more expensive bows sound better. I don't know that much about buying on, but I hope this helps:)

    -Rachel

  • Man, u r simply great...I have told u that a lot but it is sooo true!

  • bonita

  • -^^- Very impressive! I've been playing for almost 8 years now and I still find the Irish Jig hard to do XD.

  • more than five years? it definately shows. you are incredible!

  • Thanks a lot! :) :) :)

    -Rachel

  • I've been playing a little over 5 years:)

    -Rachel

  • How long have you been playing?
