Female budgies can't talk? Tell that to my female budgie, she's been talking away since she was about three months old. Oddly enough I was never able to teach any of my male budgies to talk tho I know this is the reverse of most people's experience.

@CakeNightmare yup, true. i noticed that... my male budgie talks and knows A LOT, but the female won't say a word! I've noticed it happens to most people with female birds... I would also like to get a parrot.. hmm... an ordinary common one or the african grey.... idk. ^-^

I teach my 2 male budgies japanese and korean cause im both. And the english that ive learned, i know good english.

Great! It has got to be the perfect thing to teach your pet. A friend of mine taught her bird her telephone number in case it got out. Great idea too!

He is beautiful. Did you take him to the vet when he hurt his wing? from the way ytou describe it, it sounds like a fractured clavicle to me.

Amazing bird! what a darling.

I've been amazed at what can be done for budgies these days at vets- the PDSA are particularly good- the vets are often widely experienced. Anyone can go to the PDSA in the UK in an emergency 24 hrs- they're brilliant, if you don't qualify for financial help you have to pay later. Thanks for the videos.

I'm still not entirely sure but after a day out flying he started to shy away from me and wouldn't come out of his cage. His wing was hanging oddly and was distressing him. It never got back into place...

Well, the trick is to start early. Chi knows I am his 'mother'. I simply said the same thing to him at the same speed for about 1 minute a day for 5 days in a row and he started coming back to me with the same thing. Staring at you is good. Get as close as possible when you teach him.

Yeah, they can with a lot of practice and patience. However I have 2 boys aswell, both around 8 months and i've heard that when they're in a pair it's harder to do because they concentrate on each others "language" as well as your own. Also it's less likely they will do so if they're girls but not impossible. Mine can mimic a few of the noises i make that's that's all thus far. Would love it if they could speak as concisely as this little guy!

Females speak, but only when humans are not visible to them. Sometimes very softly as a hen chicken under their breath.

Females speak, I know beacuse we had one and she could talk no problem. It is said that males talk more easily than females but I think it depends on the bird

LOL he does sound like he's saying something else. I have 2 male budgies, 1younger and 1 older and I can't get neither to talk, but boy can they talk to each other, look at us and then back at each other like they're talking about us. lol

Hehe... Sorry, I've been reading a lot on budgies recently. Females actually can talk, it's just easier to teach a male. I agree though this little guy's adorable.
