  • is there any chance to get the full interview? i remember that i see that interview in TV, and from this day on i understand her and her music. would be fine to see this interview again!

  • "Remember you can listening anything you want, if it makes you happy, but this doenst means its not shitty" This is what he say on the first part.

  • PRAISE THIS ICELANDIC DEITY TBQH this goes to every yt comment shitting on mainstream music

  • Bjorkkkkkkk

  • BJORK IS AN ANDROID. GRAB HER!

  • She is brilliant at encouraging people to think. To experiment.

  • @paganpolly haha yes indeed, i like bananas and 2unlimited

  • Bananas make me sick but if other people can eat them thats ok with me!

  • i love bjork!!!

  • i kinda agree, you dont have to listen to only mozart all your life, and all the mean critisism that people spew out isnt healthy, but wouldnt it be better for anyone to eat more fresh organic vegetables and fruits than to eat prepackaged processed sugar laden non nutritious foods? i like both high and lowbrow artists, but everything we put in our mind is feeding our mind and soul, so we might as well choose the beautiful and the meaningful, instead of empty and less talented.

  • hell yeah bjork. words for everyone.

  • meshuggah is my current toast and jam lol

  • @ionvkch amen bro

  • go bjork! love you always.

  • Comment removed

  • Two Unlimited are crap, they are not comparable to Beethoven.

Bjork is quite the snob herself, she said she would never use a guitar on her albums again (and I actually like her snobbiness).

  • I hate Bananas!!!!! is not good for my stomach, make me have diarrea :P

  • Comment removed

  • She's absolutely right! <3 her!

  • the divine word of the Queen of Korprulu sector of a far away galaxy, so wise she is

  • The thing with Bjork is that, to her it's all about being versitile in what you listen to. We listen to music because we enjoy, we choose to as like she said but I guess I would understand this a little bit better if she wasn't so vapid in the way she explains things. What does she exactly mean when she says "stupid music?" and why is she comparing music snobbery to food? I just don't get it.

  • Music is subjective. ART is subjective.

  • I want to only eat her for a week - "do it!"

  • Comment removed

  • Omg, she's totally beautiful. Perfect words.

  • Yes Bjork. I will eat Toast and Jam for a week.

  • "you should take in all the things" "if you want to eat toast with jam for a whole week, do it" You know what, fuck it. I'm not questioning Bjork.

  • 2 Unlimited is crap.

Ridicilous top say thats equal to Classical Stuff like Beethoven or Mozart.

    Wait!!!!

She means that BACH is superior to anything : )

  • It's so funny because a lot of her fans ARE musical snobs!!! If only they knew. lol

  • @MissLoveTantei91 I'm a fan of hers, and you're right. Have you seen her Youtube video comments?

"Bjork is a Goddess!!" and anyone who samples her music should be shot on sight, apparently. There's fans and then theirs fanatics...

  • "if you want to eat toast and jam for a week and that's all you want to eat- do it" inspiring words!

  • 10 music snobs dislike this!!

  • if you wanna eat a toast with jam for a week, and that's all you wanna it, DO IT :)

  • Am I the only one who thinks it's extremely adorable that she keeps talking about food? Awww. *w*

  • Motherfucking genius!

  • suddenly I am in the mood for toast with jam...

  • <3 <3 <3 this!!!

  • I agree.

  • Translation: Bjork is Filet Mignon and Lady Gaga is a banana

  • @boyboricua but björk doesnt want you to think that :s

  • @boyboricua Oh i love that comment, you sir or madam are a genius :) Thank you.

  • @boyboricua Lady gaga is a bag of sawdust

  • @boyboricua No entendiste nada hermano parece.

  • a woman with both look and huge personality

  • Toast with jam. Love it. One of the best things ever.

  • Bjork = another overhyped artist around

  • @Neueregel I think its spelled G A G A

  • @91Tribual No. Gaga is not an 'overhyped artist' because she is not an artist in the first place. She's more like a worthless idiot puppet or a junkie porn star. She is the Shame of Western culture.

  • @Neueregel yes youre right about that. although björk is not "overhyped" whatever you mean with that. whatever björk has,she earns it

  • @91Tribual maybe. But for me she is a bit overhyped because of her accentric image that seems to draw more image attention than her music. Anyway at least she does some art

  • @91Tribual when was the last time I heard her on the radio? never! music today is about what sells quick and will soon be forgotten. it has never striked me that shed be "overhyped". at least Ive always seen her as a musician and not as a mediawhore

  • i love the fact that she uses food as a metaphor for music. Both are equally important, they fill us up, gives us comfort when we're sad, gives us energy and provides us with all the things we need in order to survive.

    go Björk!

  • I want to study music at university, especially composition.. and I think it's crucial to my kind of need for gaining knowledge to always refer to this... whenever I forget about where the true fundamentals are... not that I will, but although other people have said this before. Someone as phenomenal as Bjork for some reason makes it more relevant.

  • Many of you still dont seem to get the point.

There will always be people who enjoy formulaic popular music. They see something in that music that we do not, hence why they enjoy it and we do not much like how we view the music we enjoy. Countless times have I heard from people "oh jazz sucks oh experimental music sucks, you cant dance to it, it doesnt follow a 4/4 rhythm, etc". In their eyes, the music we like is less important than theirs.

One cannot objectively say which is better

  • @WoordWerks

You still dont seem to get the point. There will always be people who enjoy formulaic popular music. They see something in that music that we do not hence why they enjoy it and we do not much like how we view the music we enjoy.

  • I wonder what would Bjork think about comparing a Mickey Mouse comic book to The Lord of The Rings. 2 Unlimited and Beethoven are not the same, they just are not and it is disrespectful to all the great composers in history to say otherwise.

Beethoven put his heart and soul into his music and therefore has gone down in history, 2 Unlimited is just some soulless cashcow that has long stopped giving milk. Generic and without any substance and liked by those who get their music from the radio.

  • @Ylviste She's not saying 2 unlimited is as good as Beethoven, or that they're 'the same" (seriously, that's one hell of a conclusion you're jumping to), she's saying that people have the right to listen to whatever they want. If someone doesn't appreciate serious music, and just wants to listen to easy, superficial music, then they should. They're the ones missing out, which is too bad for them, but judging them for that is stupid.

  • The ode is sublime, beautiful, anything you like, but too exaggerated and pompous for my fastidious ears. But what is to be done? The golden mean of truth in all things is no longer either known or appreciated. In order to win applause one must write stuff which is so inane that a coachman could sing it, or so unintelligible that it pleases precisely because no sensible man can understand it. - Mozart In a letter of 28 December 1782

  • She's right.

BTW I like 2 Unlimited and Beethoven,

  • It is great for her to say this considering 90% of her fans are pathetic snobs and elitists.

  • yaeh, people should'nt be so snobby, but its OK to kick the shit out of them for saying 'hello' to you at the airport

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt The reporter hounded Björk for several days, despite that the latter constantly refused to give an interview because she was tired from the flight to Bangkok. Then the reporter stuck a microphone in her son's face, bringing out the maternal instincts in Björk. She apologized and sent flowers to the reporter after the incident. TL;DR version:You fail at researching. The reporter didn't even say "hello"; she said "Welcome to Bangkok." :)

  • @TearInTheirHands so how was Mars? on Earth, saying 'Welcome' is like saying 'hi'. this person needs therapy. she sucks, and so do her fans

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt say you were right, for conversation's sake, and she really needed therapy to be able to cope with the amount of stress that made her lash out like that.

how does that make her suck? does everyone else in need of therapy also suck?

  • @sramanik never mind that i said 'sucks' . so what? i mean that she is a jerk for getting violent. that is not the way to handle anything. she only made herself look like a total fool

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt ok, never mind what you said. i'm only happy to take your advice. still, on Earth, pestering someone for days like a jerk can sometimes push them over the edge & i think her apologizing after the incident was a very cool move. yeah i know, you don't agree. peace.

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt so you've never snapped. ever.

  • @karmacop911 well, not really. if she was cool, she'd just say "what a loser this person is"

  • @TracyAndersonFoxhunt you know that the media are mostly vultures, right? maybe they need to be slapped around a little bit from time to time! XD

  • I think it has never been put into better words what music is all about!

  • wait.... so .. simple plan is good?

  • demolished

  • on one hand i agree with her and on the other i dont

but hey ive had my fair share of crap music so i guess i like bananas

    YA FOR BANANAS!!!!!!!

  • i eat trash all week long

  • @LfunkeyA good. bon apetit

  • She is so awesome.

  • i agree to this to the fullest degree

  • 2 unlimited was awesome!

  • That's what makes your Music so special Björk,because you approach sound like an openminded child and an openhearted Beginner, instead of a hierarchic and judgemental thinking preoccupied Specialist. So many Musicians forget the main thing when it is about to enjoy Music with others and that is: Leave your ego at home and bring your heart to the session.

  • She sounds like a 8 year old

  • @d1kiz cute, right? :)

  • she obviously hasnt heard justin bieber or lady gaga yet......

  • @Jeet27 true rofl

  • @Jeet27 haha you obviously didnt understand anything she said.

  • @funnyfacerful you obviously dont understand sarcasm

  • @NAIVADA : someone's had too much to think....

  • well this is old, I bet should gave it a little more thought, since then...

the comparison isn't all that relevant

see, bananas are natural, nothing bad about it, and there surely is nothing ethically wrong there,

on the other hand the taste of 2 unlimited (as example) is shit, nothing natural its a product, something forced, manufactured, soulless.

if you're into eating bad food for your soul, you are indeed lame,

and along are endorsing mediocrity, fucker! (:

  • Amen Bjork!

Everyday on YouTube I see countless comments and videos on which bands suck and which ones you should listen to. Or they'll always call out some random artist who isn't in relativity to the song (Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc.)

    It's really fucking annoying!

  • @UR55378008 fuck off, you are as bad because it's people like you ensure the top comment is about 1 of the aforementioned lol

  • This woman is amazing,I can't imagine an angel singing better than her

A real artist like her doesn't need drama and controversy to succeed, she doesn't need to kiss a girl, or sell out to industries or say ma ma ma or puh puh puh repeatedly in a song

She just has to get on a stage open her mouth and amaze us all

  • so some idiot named ricardo lopez blew his brains out over me? That's so goddamn funny I could Björk all over myself!

  • @TakashiMiike17 obviously you misunderstood what she was saying. and yes, music is vital to life. if we didnt have these artists to connect with, there would be FAR MORE violence in the world.

  • and here we go yet AGAIN with the lady gaga bashing when we're fucking talking about BJORK and how she doesn't agree with musical snobbery. obviously LG is doing something right if people bring her up every chance they get. but i digress, bjork is right. must admit, i can be a snob sometimes, preferring radiohead over soulja boy, but i do listen to everything from erykah badu to the devil wears prada. variety is the spice of life! :)

  • shes very on to i but bear in mind that this was a time when there was no gaga or eminem singing about gang rape, i cant picture her recommending anyone listening to that shiti do dont dare say her name in the same comment as those two, she is the messiah of music

  • @preludefan Don't project your own opinions on her. She was very clear about what she said. Pity you don't get it.

  • @RageHole blow me.

  • @preludefan Chew me.

  • @RageHole please stop, your making me cry.

  • I have to disagree. If music doesn't challenge intellectually, what's the point? I don't just mean it should be technically intricate but it should present a philosophical position. I don't think it's snobbery, it's just a belief that music is worth more than a superficial listen on an Ipod shuffle playlist.

  • well all musics are good. BUT THE JONAS BROTHERS HANAH MONTANNA AND ALL DISNEY STARS!!!!!!! SAY NO!!! but actually thats not music snobbery. ITS FAN PROBLEM!!!

  • @TakashiMiike17 Do you want to be intellectually challenged ALL THE TIME though? When dancing in a club, when falling asleep to some music, when working on a project with music playing in the background? When riding on a subway listening music off your mp3 to block out the city noise?

  • I completely agree with her here, and admire her for saying it. I've learnt this the hard way. You can try and make yourself be interested in supposedly more intellectual, challenging things but fundamentally it's you that may be losing out on what you really want.

  • She's gorgeous!

  • That ain't a snobbery. That's a misunderstood one.

  • bananas are stupid to eat! hahaha oh Bjork <3

  • she is sooooooooooooo cute =)

  • You are all stupid. You miss the point of what she said.

What Bjork is trying to say is that people shouldn't say that they like another music they don't usually listen just because they perceive that is "good music". THAT is snobism.

If you like Britney and you doesn't like Pink Floyd, you shouldn't be embarrased. Because that's you being you, and not trying to be another one.

You talk beyond your understanding... that is snob too.

  • I love her

  • What Bjork is saying is to not listen to Lady Gaga. WHAT!? She said to not listen to stupid music.

  • Your retarted she specifically said that if you like eating bread with jam only then so be it its brilliant atleast your happy but dont be an asshole like yourself and talk shit its like degrading what she meant. Its better to try different things before judging youve obviously havent paid attention to Lady Gaga's lyrics and her ability to sing and play an instrument. Im not a total fan of her but at the same time I find her talent real and refreshing from the rest of the shit artist these days

  • That's bull shit watch your gonna get a lot of thumbing down. Lady Gaga is nothing but main stream shit that gets shit out every day in America.

  • Your fucken retarted obviously. She only said to stop listening to absurd music that you would consider. Literally anyone can love whatever they want I mean Bjork likes Destiney's Child and some hip hop so your gonna call her a hipocrite. You gotta think outside the box jackass Lady GaGa is a succesful artist such as Bjork because 1)she can sing 2)she can relate to those who are just like her and 3) SHES TALENTED IN HER OWN CATEGORY its just the same as Bjork shes is loved by those who choose to

  • Listen to her. You have no idea what it takes to be in the music industry so you should shut your mouth unless your up to it and try to see if you can become successful in your own way YOUR NOTHING BUT SHIT!

  • @Pikachu24 sounds like you're a fan, dude.

  • @dicsballer9 Not really a fan of Lady Gaga just that most people dont show the respect that they deserve. I love Björk shes an original artist, I mean yeah Lady Gaga can sometimes be unoriginal but thats if you ignore her style of clothing and what not but when it comes to the talent such as singing then yeah I appreciate her just like I devote myself to listening to Björk. Didnt stumble upon this video I was looking for this for quite a while on Björk's taste of music : )

  • @Pikachu24

sorry but i'll have to disagree. you're saying that cuz you ARE a Lady Gaga fan. comparing gaga and bjork is just too stupid and its a big disgrace to bjork. this is music not kindergarden. i've heard some of gaga's songs in pubs but they're almost as painful as Back Street Boys. end of story

  • @HeroinBleeds I just think Lady Gaga could sing and there isnt a comparison dick head im just saying there should be a boundary of respect amongs artist why the hell would you go bashing music you dont like if you dont like it then dont listen to it dont go around talking shit about it just ignore it and listen to what you love instead of comming here mentioning that this is GOD MUSIC and lady gaga is shit and if you re-read my comments I was far from comparing Bjork to Gaga

  • she makes a very good point, hell yeah now i've got a proof!

  • Nice try, with the food comparison thing, but the bitch need, to get her facts straight - if we assume, music is a food for the soul, it's always better, to get the good stuff. Instead of...junk food, or fast food, or.....bananas. XD

  • That's your personal preference though, what good stuff is what. You can't be such a nazi towards the tastes of others.

  • She's always been so cute I couldn't think straight............. but I think you have to be one brave son of a bitch to be in a relationship with this chick. !!!!!

  • Listen to what you want... Easily said is that musical taste is clearly just in the eye of the beholder. Listen to what you like and don't talk trash. YAY BJORK!

  • Wait, so lady gaga is worthy of listening to ?

    Im sorry but no.

  • respect other tastes than yours

  • Just dance is. Not some of her other stuff. I agree with Bjork for the most part but there is a limit.

  • Why are you studying music? If you need to go to University to figure it out, then it is you who does not understand.

Music appreciation and understanding cannot be taught.

I can't believe how moronic your statements are. It blows me away.

  • @leolinklima You don't hear music to feel something? You don't hear to make you dance, or cry or get over a breakup? Its not always about the art. Its about what a song makes you feel.

  • amen!!

  • YEAH I agree

  • Basically: How much you enjoy something, and how intellectuality stimulating it is are often mutually exclusive. We should recognize that things that are purely for entertainment are also valuable to people. That people should try to have a bit of everything in their lives and appreciate them for what they are.

She's not dismissing the use of genres or categories. She's simply saying: If listening to x music makes you happy, and you want to listen to it all the time, then go for it.

  • Totally agree. Before being commercial, or utilitarian or art or whatever, music is just music. Besides, considering that music deals mainly with emotions, I agree with overthar - we should just feel it instead of break it down into pieces and labels.

  • I know where she's heading for but her mind is mixed up....

  • She is mixing things, music is wide: primitive forms, commercial form, utilitarian form, art form, etc. discernment is a very important part of human intelligence and we need to use it in order to evolve.

Entertainment it´s ok but please don´t convert yourself into a monkey.

  • @felipeaca She's obviously speaking metaphorically. In this sense, she's pertaining to music. Whatever your taste may be, it doesn't matter as long as it makes you feel joyful. And I beg to differ; when speaking of art, in all forms including music. I believe it's better to feel the music rather than to analyze and over-think it.

  • just to add..

    Bjork interview with Avo Part:

Avo: "ALL things in life with Art and Music is possible...., but not ALL things.. are necessary.."

i love this quote, so much deeper meanings are in these words..

  • I agree with what Bjork said. I like her as both a musical artist and as a person. Go Bjork, you little cutie! :D

I wish people on YouTube would learn how to spell...It would be so much easier on my eyes, unless of course they just learning English. But seriously, did you guys skip 2nd grade or something?

  • unless of course they 'are' learning English..

  • years ago I stopped caring about what musical genre I was listening to, it just doesn't matter to me anymore I am always changing

the only guy I can't stand is tpain, his voice has too much effects

  • "If you want to eat toast with jam for a week, then do it."

Bjork is definitely a rare gem of a human, let alone musical artist. You just don't find successful people like her who actually believe that and live it, unfortunately they usually get swept up in what others, usually us and the record companies, want them to do.

  • Say what you want, but I prefer artists who actually write their own material and arent blatantly marketed towards an audience. I reckon a lot of people miss out more thoughtful creative music because they turn to outlets such commercial radio as a quick way of listening. If you really cant see the agenda the mainstream music industry pushes then you have my sympathy. but yeah, music debates are so pointless.....

  • she's pretty pretty pretty

  • That food analogy isn't quite right. Bad music is like a twinky. It is a cheap fill but completely unnecessary and you would be better off not eating them.

  • nplanet...what is bad music? i have been a musician all my life. i started by banging on pots as an infant. i began formal lessons at age 7. i have played in all kinds of bands - rock, jazz, bluegrass, blues, acoustic, electric, electronic and classical orchestras and gamelans. i play several instruments. i have a masters degree in music performance and am working on a phd in musicology. i like it all for listening and most for playing. there is no "bad" music - only music you don't understand.

  • Nah, backstreet boys is bad music bro

  • @MrBenquo Snob.

  • @okodorifuto lol ok

  • While I agree there is no such thing as "bad" music, I do think that people's unrefined ears are taken advantage of by the music industry. When your musical pallette is unrefined/unstretched, you tend to accept the music you're fed. You can neurologically build your musical ear and appreciate music on a deeper level. But no, I don't think there's such a thing as "bad" music... but I'll certainly be the first to say Lada Gaga is insipid drivel!

  • Pretty much my thought on this, good job!

  • I truly love this woman. That's all I can say.

  • Bjorks music is univeral

  • Björk speaks the truth.

  • This video comes in handy so well with my many music debates

  • I love Bjork

  • if you want to eat toast with jam for a week, and that's all you want to eat, do it.

  • you should chew it, all of them.

  • Comment removed

  • I like 2 Unlimited and I like Bjork.

it all depends on the mood and the state of mind.

    why be picky?

  • Open mindedness in music, what an original concept! Something I've been struggling with, but she hit the nail on the head.

  • she is right i love her and her music!

    i love bjork!!!

  • I don't really know any of her music but she's totally right.

  • fix that!! she's a genius. i don't know anyone who can't find one song of hers that doesn't touch them.

for me, it's the obvious "all is full of love". :D

  • She's right you know

  • 2 Unlimited.......the snob's shitty nightmare

She looks like Clara Oliver here (...vide)

  • I wish more people had Bjork's perspective!

    Good Clip!

  • This clip is a useful tool in the battle against the narrow minded :-)

  • people who can't grasp what she says claiming that she's stupid are really just blinded by their own reflection, because this is really a simple thing, and it's true.
