@CelticDreammaker I don't think you made it up. I remember waking up when I was little and seeing him. He told me of all the things that would start happening to me and they did. I was scared at first because my grandma said he was the devil but now that I've grown wiser I know it was Cernunnos who came that night and I'm forever thankful because in the end it lead me to a place where my heart wants me to be.

I'm Christian & I find your video very interesting. Unlike other Christians I know Wicca isn't evil. Just because your God has horns that doesn't make him the evil Lucifer we know. We're just different & that okay. (:

We just don't believe in the devil. "Satan" was most likely created by Christians as they entered Europe. They viewed the Pagan rituals as "barbaric" (like most of the Greeks and Romans anyway), and used Cernunnos (also known as Cernowain, Hu Gadarn, Herne, etc.) as a fear tactic. It makes sense, too, as there was no devil in Christian beliefs before the religion came to Europe.
@celticbattleaxe Actually in our belifs there always was a Lucifer/Satan, even before Christianity. We didn't make him up but I know what your saying. Anyway...in my beliefs (Celtic Pagan), there is no lucifer at all - the only branch of Witchcraft that ackowledges him are those who follow Luciferian Witchcraft, which is NOTHING close to satanism. It presents Lumiel-Lucifer as a non-evil being, being one of the "Fallen Ones" to help humanity, not hinder.
@beccaotaku Now - here's the weird part. Witchcraft and Wicca are too different branches of Paganism. I say that I'm a Celtic Pagan because I'd rather not say what my true path is (it hinders my abilities as a practitioner, ie, the power to be silent), but anyway: Wicca is a "New Age" religion being founded in the 1940s and 50s by Gerald Gardner. His initiator (I forgot the name - damn) claimed to come from a family practice of Witchcraft, that reached far back in the centuries.
@beccaotaku Wicca is a branch of Witchcraft, a much older path. Gardner and a few others started Wicca in England, where traditional Wicca is revered the most. In the US, more paths in Wicca are being formed, such as Celtic Wicca ( very similar to my religion with a few differences), Seax-Wica and PectiWita (founded by Raymond Buckland, who brought Wicca to the US), and many others. Both Witchcraft and Wicca are shamanic paths, with Wicca being the return of Witchcraft in a sense.

As far as any myths, I don't know much more than my own religion's myths, which are quite interesting. It would take at least 10 more comments to tell you the whole story, and I'll be rambling :). Basically, a race of Gods, the Tuatha de Danann ("Children of the Goddess Danu"), overthrew another, the Fomorians.

@67seraph 'satan' comes from am middle eastern word meaning 'accusor' or 'that which opposes'. The followers of yaweh simply labelled the gods of all the other tribes the conquered as such and eventually wove this figure into their myths as the opposing force to their 'one true' god..

Ethics question - is it ok to name a boy child Cernunnos? Or would it be taken as blasphemous...I am serious, I would love to name my child this, I am Pagan but I am unsure of any ethics complication

@DahKoDaeVonos Exactly, many people in spanish Cathlolic families are names Jesus, Mary. And alot of Christians name their children after names in the bible.
It might be a bit pretentious to a lot of Pagan ears, but not 'blasphemous.' 'Kern' might work well, though, or any names that have deer/stag references in them. Books of Celtic names could show you a few.
@oxilizz well it's entirely up to you weather it would be better to name you child Cernunnos or (as an alternative idea) a slight variation of the name seeing as it's your son. The only issue I could find with this would be that, I at least, would find it awkward to scold a child with the name of a god, i just can't imagine saying something like "Cernunnos, why would you do that? go sit in the corner!" but if you could say something like that with a straight face i say go for it :)

@kingfisher559 Lugh exists in every Celtic pantheon though, including Pictish and Brythonic/Welsh. Cernunnos is the chief deity of Gaulic tradition (or Dagda, depending on how you look at it), but he ruled over forests and hunters. The whole embodying masculinity thing was invented by wiccans. Dagda embodied fatherhood and manliness, not Cernunnos. Moon was represented by several goddesses, especially Adsullata. Andarta was femininity.

I was scared at first because my grandma said he was the devil but now that I've grown wiser I know it was Cernunnos who came that night and I'm forever thankful because in the end it lead me to a place where my heart wants me to be.

I cried in my sleep. I saw him in his Stag form. He didn't scare me one bit. So I fallowed him, to where he leaded me too. That was when he should me his true self. We just don't believe in the devil. "Satan" was most likely created by Christians as they entered Europe. They viewed the Pagan rituals as "barbaric" (like most of the Greeks and Romans anyway), and used Cernunnos (also known as Cernowain, Hu Gadarn, Herne, etc.) as a fear tactic. It makes sense, too, as there was no devil in Christian beliefs before the religion came to Europe.

Anyway...in my beliefs (Celtic Pagan), there is no lucifer at all - the only branch of Witchcraft that ackowledges him are those who follow Luciferian Witchcraft, which is NOTHING close to satanism. It presents Lumiel-Lucifer as a non-evil being, being one of the "Fallen Ones" to help humanity, not hinder.

@beccaotaku Now - here's the weird part. Witchcraft and Wicca are too different branches of Paganism. I say that I'm a Celtic Pagan because I'd rather not say what my true path is (it hinders my abilities as a practitioner, ie, the power to be silent), but anyway: Wicca is a "New Age" religion being founded in the 1940s and 50s by Gerald Gardner. His initiator (I forgot the name - damn) claimed to come from a family practice of Witchcraft, that reached far back in the centuries.

@beccaotaku Wicca is a branch of Witchcraft, a much older path. Gardner and a few others started Wicca in England, where traditional Wicca is revered the most. In the US, more paths in Wicca are being formed, such as Celtic Wicca ( very similar to my religion with a few differences), Seax-Wica and PectiWita (founded by Raymond Buckland, who brought Wicca to the US), and many others. Both Witchcraft and Wicca are shamanic paths, with Wicca being the return of Witchcraft in a sense.

As far as any myths, I don't know much more than my own religion's myths, which are quite interesting. It would take at least 10 more comments to tell you the whole story, and I'll be rambling :). Basically, a race of Gods, the Tuatha de Danann ("Children of the Goddess Danu"), overthrew another, the Fomorians.

Really interesting, The worship of a "horned deity" is very ancient, pre-historic, and definitely pre-dates all "city state" religions, including Sumer...etc There was a very real reason for desiring a connection to the great herds of this ancient world, survival, and mutual respect for the hunters game. Agricultural "civilisation" had no real need of this, at all, and subsequently disposed, forget and "demonised" the god/s, Pan became "The devil" Sad really?

@oxilizz well it's entirely up to you weather it would be better to name you child Cernunnos or (as an alternative idea) a slight variation of the name seeing as it's your son. The only issue I could find with this would be that, I at least, would find it awkward to scold a child with the name of a god, i just can't imagine saying something like "Cernunnos, why would you do that? go sit in the corner!" but if you could say something like that with a straight face i say go for it :)

@kingfisher559 Lugh exists in every Celtic pantheon though, including Pictish and Brythonic/Welsh. Cernunnos is the chief deity of Gaulic tradition (or Dagda, depending on how you look at it), but he ruled over forests and hunters. The whole embodying masculinity thing was invented by wiccans. Dagda embodied fatherhood and manliness, not Cernunnos. Moon was represented by several goddesses, especially Adsullata. Andarta was femininity.

Historians, egyptologist, theologians they all reject that claim that the story of jesus was copied from pagan gods.I got plenty of videos to asnwer each and one of the gods that zeitgeist claims.

@MikeLockard if you want we can talk about i am open about exposing the lies of this horrible movie. By horrible i mean how they destroy history. They are so wrong on many levels. Its only a conspiracy movie making people belive that jesus is a sun god which is also an absurd claim to do. Most of their claims are taken from the book the christ conspriacy which as been given the title bad book not to read by historians and theologians.

@LaSainteCroix I've never seen this movie you speak of. And listen, I want nothing more than the Bible to be true... I love the concept of Heaven and a God who loves us and protects the "good people". I've been Christian the majority of my life. Recently though... I just don't know what to think.

It makes absolutely no sense that the only way into heaven is through Jesus Christ. 1st of all he doesn't fulfill the Messianic prophecies, 2nd of all a good portion of the world STILL has never heard of him. Do you think it's fair if a good person in a tribe in Africa dies and goes to Hell because he didn't accept Jesus? It makes no sense. God created everyone... not just people in the Middle East.

Jesus did fullfiled all the messianic prophecies, as a matter of fact the jews were converting and the jewish leader did'nt like it so they took some parts off that proved jesus to be the messiah. They also created the tamuld which blasphemes christ.

@MikeLockard The thing with the affrican tribe and all that is that jesus gave they keys to peter (the first pope of the Church) and today the Church as a doctrine very clear about this. The person which never heard of christ nor any christian groups or anything as a chance of being save if he does faith and works. Faith would be that he follows his religious group of his tribe and really belive it to be the true religion.

@MikeLockard He also need to have what we call baptism of desire. It can replace baptism of water, which you need. What is it you may ask. Well Baptism of desire is that if he knew that his religion was wrong he would convert to the true religion. Also he needs to practice the religion he thinks is the true one. Also why do you think jesus said in the bible as my father sent me i send you?

@LaSainteCroix Why would God only reveal himself to a certain group of people and than condemn those who don't believe those people to Hell? Basically that's what it all boils down to. If that is the truth then God is a complete jerk God. I don't believe this to be the case. I believe some of the people who wrote the Bible may have been enlightened but I do not believe in the Bible overall. There are some good things to come out of it but mostly bad. It sickens me how many people kill for "God".
