  • I jst hope that any questions they have on regdesh will b about the history otherwise I'm dead meat.

  • waah!!

  • @asthikasthik snap reaction

  • It didnt come up last year, its defo gonna this year .____.

  • this is really nice

  • @sangeetlover12345 wot the hell u think this is good r u indian

  • I've been looking for this for ages...thanks!

  • No dislikes... really?

  • @Hennerz632 yeah I mean wot the hells that all about

  • I'm an Indian Classical musician as well as a drummer and guitarist... I think Anoushka Shankar is quite overrated (and btw for those of you that think the 11 minute piece is all, nope. Whole concerts last for about 2 hours with an interval in between. One artist, with accompaniment for two hours. Think about the next time you criticise it) Cheers guys :)

  • @InfamousPillarKid I feel so bad for u

  • @Joliveerr I understand that you have your own opinions and taste on music, but seriously, there is no need to call ANY music "shit" considering that they are talented musicians in their own right. Did you honestly think you'd only be learning about popular music and rock for a two year music course?! Imagine how much stamina it takes to play a piece lasting 5 minutes let alone 11 minutes! If you don't like it, then don't say anything at all- learn some respect!

  • @chocomad99 yeah u go (person I donnow the name of)

  • if Rag Desh comes up..... -________-

  • @wahheeeyy Feel for you man, I don't have a fking clue.

  • GCSE Music -_-

  • Wish we could do Leek Spin for GCSE music :(

  • I'm forcing myself to put this on my ipod. It's coming straight off after the exam, though. Some of the others I might keep though (Moby, Something's Coming, Mozart, Chopin ect). I just really dislike this one for some reason.

  • I love Music and all, but this is just taking the piss, I can't imagine anyone who would sit there and play this shit for 11 minutes, 5 minutes maybe, but this just drags on, Just do the Jhala and fuck off, Kthx. <3

  • Who would play/ listen to this? Maybe people whose culture it is to play their music for their God who means a lot to them, or perhaps just because they love it, is who. Even though Eastern music sounds a little funny to our Western ears it doesn't mean that it's any less accomplished, beautiful or musical than anything we listen to. Anoushka plays sitar a million times better than pretty much any of the musicians in the charts can play theirs, and with so much more emotion and expression.

  • @TarrynWilliamsMusic It's great that you think in such a way I didn't say they wern't great musicians, they are in fairness. But to be honest it's 11 minutes long. I couldn't show my faith for 11 minutes straight :l perhaps I should respect this music/admire it, but I really really don't :') I'll stick to Miles Davis XD

  • Thanks to music GCSE i now have a wider understanding of shit i don't need to know! Apart form Miles Davis, that was good.

  • Thankyou so muchhhhhh!

I've just started my second year of GCSE music, and I've already lost my cd with all of the set works on it, I didn't expect to see this up here if I'm honest:')

    Life saver!

anyone know when the change from the Alap to the Gat time is and then the time when it changes from Gat to the second Gat?

    Much appriciated :D

  • i feel that the notes are not going sweetly as desh is a very beautiful rag

  • Comment removed

  • not exactly 'why does my heart feel so bad' is it, electric counterpoint or something coming is it...!?

  • @101theguitardude Something's coming sucks cock, and so does electric counterpoint. that moby song is piss-easy as well. This is far more interesting.

  • Miles Davis FTW

  • Very nice! I dont know how to express my feeling as I do not know any music.

  • Same old gat nothing new

  • Shoenberg's Peripetie was one of the best pieces of music on the syllabus. I don't see why people don't like it, if you understand what's behind the sound, you'll love it.

  • how did everyone do today?

  • Is anyone actually listening to this because they like the song, or are you all here for Music GCSE?

  • @coast3dg3 I love this song , and i am revising this for my gcse. I have bee listening to this since I was 5 , cos I come from an Indian family ! :)

  • @AlphaSagittari cool. I love the sitar, it is incredible as an instrument :P

  • @TheBuddyboy15 i totally agree

  • Can't believe this didn't come up! I revised it so much! :(

  • why can't we have 12 pieces from area of study 1? :(

  • Anyone else listening to this whilst desperately trying to cram information into an already saturated brain...?

Bloody exams... the French listening was near impossible....

  • Best possible scenario, for Part B, the ten mark qeustion Either Mozart or Steve Reich!

  • @p0sn no schoenberg / miles david

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH. I COULDN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE.

  • pretty Calming

  • i will kill my teacher tomorrow if this shit came up. we just learnt it last week and i was not in the fucking lesson. what is this crap music?

  • GOOD LUCK EVERYONE IN THE EXAM TOMMOROW :)

  • Good luck everyone! I'll be thinking of all of you across the country when we sit down tommorow.

  • Oh dear god please don't you dare come up in part B, or god help us all.

  • I really did not enjoy GCSE music, except for this... This is seriously beautiful music :)

  • If one of the three Rag desh songs come up in the exam, will they have the name of which one we are listening to at the top or will it just say 'Rag desh'?

  • @x3abzkebabzx3 IT will have the name provided. Unfortunately you need to know which one is which -.-

  • If this comes up as an essay question, I will do the other essay question NO MATTER what it is, even if its peripetie or Yiri or something. I just can't remember any of the six billion names of all the different things involved in rag desh. I did music GCSE to play my instrument, not learn a different language.

  • @t3hb0n I know. The indian is the hardest piece to learn by far!

  • I love how Peripetie creeps up in every youtube video involving GCSE music. In my eyes, it's incredible. :)

  • @jrdennis95 Yeah, I like it too

  • I actually love this. Why does everyone have something against it? That's what Music GCSE is for; wider musical appreciation...

Well, except for Peripetie. That doesn't even count as music :L

  • Thank you for uploading this :)

Goodluck in the exam everyone. x

  • Thank you so much for this

God, I'm so nervous about the exam

  • I don't even know why I have to do music.. I know pretty much nothing about it :|

  • Dig this :)

I don't even care if that makes me a nerd, its good.

  • @Highification I actually like this too :) Nerds ftw

  • my exam is a week on tuesday and i need to cram in a whole two years of work into one week :D

  • @nildo01394 me too!!!

i've done the coursework pretty well though

  • wtf is a freaking jhala, jhor, bandish and goddamn alap@!?!?! when in life will i ever listen to goddamn indian CRAP!?

  • @TheLOLROFLMAOMG They are the structures of the Raga, but with the three set pieces, just understand what structure they're in. This one above playing uses the Alap (slow, first part of the song) and then Gat 1 and Gat 2. A gat is without a vocal singer, and a Bandish is WITH a vocal singer. Think, Bandish, 'Band', when people are in a band they usually sing.

    :)

  • well im screwed!

  • on another note, does anyone get Shoenberg's Peripetie?

I mean just image going to a concert to listen to that on it's own, what a fucking joke.

  • @087Seb I LOVE PERIPETIE

  • @WirelessToast your a nutter if you actually like it, its the most confusing song out of the lot!

  • @087Seb well, its not really long enough to play on its own, but i agree, listening to Five Pieces for Orchestra as half of a concert would be unbearable...

  • @087Seb so true how the hell do people get through it, I bet all the kids wear hats so they can listen to their ipods underneath. Wot I can't believe is that people actually like this music

  • 14 hours to go :(

  • @tomizdabest1 really?

  • @087Seb for me

  • Music GCSE, you like music, but you don't like it that much. All I wanted to do was play my saxophone and drum kit. :( lol

  • @Dragoncourtjr myteacher doesnt teach me fuck all either, and now htinks we can all read music

  • @Dragoncourtjr Me to all I wanna do is play my piano and drums, some of the peices are sooooo annoying. But it always makes it better when ure music teacher pretends to sing in a womans voice and acts like a gay boy wit turrets

  • Wow, I am NOT ready for my exam. NOTHING MAKES SENSE.

  • You know when you have come to listen to rag desh voluntarily you have nothing else to revise :L

  • Thanks for the upload and good luck, not long now -.-
