Actually BMW were the first non british bike company to win the Isle of Mann TT. Some 25 - 30 years before the Jap bikes. BMW is going to do some damage, and I promise the Japanese manufacturers are worried about this bike.
The reason initial testing was in an R6 frame is because this 1000cc is the width of a Jap 600cc. BMW are entering a new era and this bike will be priced amongst the Japanese just like the G 450 X which was released in 08.
Corser has got this bike flying and the Japanese are shitting themselves.
Every japanese manufacturer copy eachother... ok well maybe they are begining to change a little... (new R1 etc) but seriously this could be done with most bikes. Besides I think this guy works for yamaha... :D

FYI, I sat on this bike over the weekend at SBNW in Stevenson, WA. 1 of 3 in North America; pre-production version touring the country.
The BMW rep who was traveling the country with it, hitting various trackdays (!!), had nothing but amazing things to say about it....
So I asked him, "What do you think the closest bike to this is?"
