Fabulous! How do you set up a guitar to be able to do tapping on it?

well, its just a normal steel string acoustic.

Amplification helps since the back of the string vibrates along with the front of the string.

Compression is also helpful to keep the notes the same volume

I'm not using compression here but the camera has its own compression system built into the camera.

I don't know how you define piano guitarist composition, but your composition isn't exclusively unigue. It is progressive, but not exclusively unique. Of course Antoine and Andy are two of the greatest acoustic solo composers. Are they not piano style??? Andy is from Kansas

"piano style" is derived from the way the guitar is held & approached from the top

the hands are in the same position as a piano players hands.

THIS VIDEO is considered "2 hand tapping"

i prefer the term "Flat Tapping" which is more descriptive.

btw i love andy & antoine, t-cophony even more :)

each of us has our own unique style but your right too.

No one person "owns" any style. haha

anyways i wish i had a few flat tapping guitarist to jam with

well my i have researched it extensively along with several universities and music research organizations. As well as polled EVERY major acoustic guitar forum i could find ..

well i've been playing for over 30 years .. to play this tapping style requires some knowledge of music theory ..

but early on .. i learned by buying chord / lyric books of my favorite musicians .. beatles , gordon lightfoot, bread, zepplin etc .. the big secret is control and relaxation and conservation of time, effort and energy. learn to play soft, slow and quiet .. loud fast hard will come easy .. good luck .. jeff

Thanks for your comment, buddy. You know what? My motto is "let's try that" so... I might actually do a cover of one of your tunes one of these days. I partucularly like SirVibe and that's definitely doable on a piano. With my real piano, I might surprise you. Very few people actually open the body of the piano and develop the kind of alternate skills you find with lap or fingerstyle guitar ;-) One day maybe.

sparky .. thats actually some amps i "threw together" just to post youtube video's .. those are Magnacorder Reel to Reel preamps .. they have a very strong tube monitor amp in them that i'm using with 2 12" guitar speakers .. they were a bit noisy so i'm having the capicitors replaced soon .. i'll be selling a TON of vintage gear on ebay soon too .. lookinnn is my ebay acct name .. i may be selling one of these .. ** i have 3 of them ** .. thanks again .. your friend jeff
