  • @fenway1229

I refuse to be kind to people who think I'm going to hell for the rest of eternity just because I don't believe in the same thing they do.

  • @Thehellfireclan to judge an entire group of people that includes millions on their beliefs is extremely ignorant and stupid

  • what are the western govts. doing thats causing this eruption? why did the western govts. support dictatorships in middleeast; and run when shit broke loose? and lastly, why are the western govts. under illusions of 'preemption' ? control the wests double standard and hypocrisy instead of criticizing muslims. im sure they understand what im saying, this is a big game to them.

  • this idiot hitchens sees everything in face value, what caused the face value, he is not willing to speak of. he ties alot of todays problem on religion, specifically islam. this guy has no knowledge of islam nor arabic, but decides to demonize islam. he somehow correlates behaviour and character of some muslims and blames a book and prophet PBUH for the damage. If he read the quran, with guidance, im sure it will affect his ignorant stance for the good.

  • @bdpride You speak of Christopher's ignorance on the subject of Islam yet you appear to ignorant of Christopher. He is no longer with us. In his life he was careful to stress that he is against religion because it supports irrational thinking and acting on these beliefs. I agree there is a prejudice against the muslim people yet Hitchens is not guilty of it. He is "an equal opportunity religion debunker"

  • Not believing in god IS a religion, IF not collecting stamps is a hobby or not smoking is an addiction or starvation is a cuisine....

  • Christopher Hitchens will always be one of my favorite heroes!

  • @borgoff55 When trying to convince others through argumentation, its generally best not to supply an ENTIRE argument to use against you. 1: You seem sure in your claim that Hellfire knows nothing; how did you aquire this knowledge and certainty? 2: This is just more "biased retardation" (in the truest sense of that term), and is without justifaction. 3: Apparently, your ignorance is so all consuming that you can make blind statements about an individual. Seriously, just think a litte.

  • It really is an insult to imply we are such vile creatures that we need some tyrant to tell us how to act, if that is what Christians truly believe then they have no right to preach to Atheists and Satanists like myself. Just because they follow some imaginary bully does not make them better than anyone of a different faith or people of merely science and logic.

  • Religious puppets repeating what they learned as kids...lol

  • Love it

  • what a dumb tard! of course the bible says all that, much like a father tells his children, don't push my buttons or theres gona be repercussions if you don't listen. hes just keeping you in line. punishment is not given all the time. just for the rash and ignorant people. mankind needs the bible in order to save us from our own greed, stupidity and impulsive actions. the book is more like a guidline for humans handed down by god.

  • @WarbladeX1 While YOU might treat it as only a guideline there are plenty who treat it as complete truth from beginning to end, for them they are RULES not guidelines, they follow without thought or question, I reject your statement that without god man is greedy and cruel, if this were true the prisons would be full of mainly atheists yet when the numbers are checked atheists are underrepresented against the number of recorded atheists in population studies.

  • @Redshift21 i treat it as a guideline because i understand what the book is getting at. i don't gross myself in the words because lets face it, some of us get it, most don't. others need it because they are lost and alot assume with a closed mind. the popullation of athiest in american is still pretty low. but most of that is because they live a sheltered life.so yah there would be a low # of athiest in prison. think on how many turn to god in prison because they know they're wrong!?

  • @Redshift21 so what does that tell you about prison, you find god the most reliable, when the chips are down. yes some people live, sleep, eat and breath by the bible. though, them people feel they need it, to make them feel good about them selfs. others are built stronger don't need it as much. they know right from wrong and have very few questions on life because of common sense. not that they can't be wrong, but have a moral understanding what the bible is about.

  • @WarbladeX1 Have you even read the bible. Are slavery, mass murder and rape good guidelines for society? I actually can't believe you would call other people ignorant considering your stance on things. But there isn't any point arguing with you because if you listened to reason you wouldn't be a monotheist.

  • @MikeyIsWellBad no thats what hittler did. why do you want to live like that? the bible is about senerios in different situations. common sense should tell you that, but not everyone has it, even some people of high intelligents lack this. athiest are full of hate and lack spiritual understanding, but god will give you what you desire, if he didn't you wouldn't be where your at today.

  • @WarbladeX1 Wow you're stupid. Those things I mentioned occur in your bible without condemnation. Morals do not come from scripture as, for example, we would still oppress women. The only thing that fills me with hate is your ignorance. There is no such thing as 'spiritual understanding'. I would dispute the last thing you said but your spelling and grammar are so horrible I literally can't tell what you're saying. I would thank God, but that would be hypocritical.

  • @MikeyIsWellBad i never said they did occur in the bible, if they did thats fine. oppressing women? you better be livin in iraq, cause if you tried that here in america she would cut it off, if she hasn't already! but its ok, i see your a young pup and don't understand. mabe one day, but no ones holding there breath.

  • @WarbladeX1 No I said they did but you were too stupid to notice. You are so dumb it actually hurts me. I said if morals came from the bible we would oppress women you idiot. If you're going to be a condescending prick at least have the decency to speak with actual words and grammar you fucking moron.

  • @MikeyIsWellBad and we did oppress women untill the 1990s where have you been? mabe you are to young or you never understood history but if all you can come up with is about political correctness.. lol i'll wipe my ass on that, lawyer boy

  • @WarbladeX1 Stop being stupid. You don't listen to anything I say. But lets be honest, if you listened to arguments you wouldn't believe in a personal God.

  • @yesyou123333 US invaded Iraq because Bush claimed it is what jesus wanted...if that's how it works then get the religion the fuck out of my country because I'm sick of people in charge of it relying on an invisible man to make decision for the country, that's what dictators do.

  • To be Christian in this day and age, you have to be extremly ignorant and stupid,

  • @Thehellfireclan and to be an athiest you have to be bitter, angry, hatefull of what made us better people in the first place. you must want to join hittler, stalin and all the other tyrants thinking they were god too.

  • @WarbladeX1 What makes people who don't buy your bullshit bitter and angry, besides the fact that you insultingly try to apply your own label (religious) to its exact opposite (non-religious), is the fact that you say such stupid shit as the entire comment I am responding to here.

Hitler?? Really? You really are a mindfucked tool if you think "I DON'T BUY THE BULLSHIT YOU'RE SELLING" = "HEIL HITLER"

You dumb motherfucker. What PREACHER programmed your nubile mind with FALSEHOOD?

  • @sillygames your graspin at straws here and overly anal about something blocking your thinkin process. you actualy make me laugh, thats the kind of intollerance athiest stand for and confirm my point your no better than hitler. i would say listen to yourself but i guess thats all you do anyway. so good luck with your speech and grammer

  • @WarbladeX1 @WarbladeX1 No, dude, associating someone with Hitler is grasping at straws. So is calling disbelief a religion. You fail at so many levels, you'll you don't have a hope of escaping your ignorance if you keep thinking in such a counterproductive way.

Speech and grammar? Did you seriously just go there? Do you even read what you write?

  • @sillygames instead of just badgering me, why don't you come up with reasons why im wrong. don't just say it, explain it. when i said your grasping at straws, it ment you have no arguement and resort to hate to try to justify yourself...sad and poorly done

  • @WarbladeX1 I told you specifically why you're wrong. You just can't read.

  • @sillygames all i see is alot of cursing and your stupid, wrong #@$%. yah i guess its over my head. ohh well.

  • @WarbladeX1 I know that you really want to manipulate my words, but they are there for everyone else to read as well.

Calling nonreligion religion makes you a moron. Your stupid Hitler diatribe is even more moronic. You're daft. An idiot. A rube. A sucker. Live with it.

  • @sillygames im not twisting anything, if your asuming i called nonreligious people religious, then your right! because any group that believes in the same thing about god is labeled under religion athiest, theiest whatever you wana call yourself. this follows under the law of noncontradiction and if you still don't believe me. why is athiest topics listed under religion?

  • @WarbladeX1 If nonreligion is religion, then freedom is a prison sentence. You are calling the opposite of a thing the thing itself. How fucking irrational are you willing to be in order to defend your brain against reality?

It's too bad about that critical thinking deficiency you've got there. You don't even understand the language you were born learning.

p.s. We're there to troll you, dummy.

  • @sillygames lol.. you lost and changing the subject to perspective, not logic. freedom is a prison sentence..it is to the crimaly insaine. free drugs, not knowing where your at, not hurting no one. probly the best thing for him. like i said, perspective.. not logic. try again

  • @WarbladeX1 You're still doing it. You don't know what logic is, and you are demonstrating it to everyone. "Not X" NEVER EQUALS X, dipshit. Can you not work through that in your braincase? You're also continually reinforcing your irrationality with even more irrational statements. It's almost morbidly amusing to watch.

Keep pulling shit out of your caboose, and eventually you might find a train of thought.

  • I would have been terrified to have ever debated Christopher Hitchens, and that's not just some post-humous hype. I saw him in Portland a couple of years ago and even to a friendly audience that was only there to hear a speech, he was still about 5 seconds ahead of everyone in the room. Seriously one of the most important people in the modern era.

  • What, God doesn't exist? Hell be telling us that the Tooth Fairy doesn't exist next! And that is just ridiculous!

  • Flying headbutt off the top rope to religion!

  • i dont think its difficult to disprove a biblical god - even a child can do it

not taking away from christopher hitchens work - he had to do it - frustrating as it must have been

i loved the way he massacred the catholic church with stephen fry

  • I love Hitchens and I am a Theophilanthropist, even if he can't tell the difference between a religious zealot and a theist.

  • @TheArcaneSanctum Evil will triumph if good people do nothing - Edmund Burke

The "sane" religious people give credence to the religious zealots.

The "sane" religious people generally are fine with genital mutilation

The "sane" religious people allowed the catholic church to get away with covering up scandals

The "sane" religious people are duped into believing a zygote cell is a human (embryologists have disproved this)

Theists need to take responsibility for their inaction

  • @Kruezoraxe It is much worse than that. Atheists need to take responsibility for their inaction.

  • @1969Bourne Inaction in what way? And why is it "much worse"?

  • @Kruezoraxe Non-believers around the world are afraid to speak their true minds. We are worried about being ostracized by a boss, a lover, or friend. We are afraid of bringing woe upon ourselves or our children. Politicians are especially afraid, even though I think the majority of them are atheists. But I do believe it will slowly improve in the coming years. Thank god for the Internet.

  • @1969Bourne Agreed.

  • @TheArcaneSanctum Actually, Hitchens clearly understood the difference between a simple theist and a zealot. He just didn't think that the moderate was more palatable than the zealot and that religious moderation offered fundies cover and respectability.

  • The title should be renamed to "Christopher Hitchens explains why there is no reason to think there is a god " per his statement in the first 25 seconds. That is what he is doing in this video. The current title will confuse and frustrate people as many of the comments here evince.

  • He totally destroys the case for an Abrahamic God.

  • If it was true that God didn't exist, then how do true Christians do it to speak in tongues? and how do they do it to have the ability to help people get healed when they touch their foreheads and to know stuff that only you and God know. hmmm...

  • Comment removed

  • @TheWesternPanda They don't think they're magicians, im so sure old ladies are going to think that. I've encountered several old ladies that have that gift of God to heal and to know personal stuff about you. I still remember a while back some old lady new something about me that only I new, and it freaked me out. I would always feel alot of body heat when I would hear most of the Christians at church speak in tongues, it scared me when I was small tho. I'll check out that show you mentioned.

  • @kimkrisrich Tongues isn't a real language, it's just gibberish.

As for the hand forehead healing... please, it's a mindset thing...

  • Genius

  • @Tippersnore

    correction: "FlyingSpaghettiMonster'u Akbar!"

  • horrible title, this really doesnt disprove anything. jus sayin. he's promoting his theories and ornate comparisons, not facts.

  • I will always love you, RIP HITCH!

  • @nikkiandlibby or decease in peace?

  • And to that one must say, "Allah hu Akbar!"

  • Hahaha what an opening statement. Hitchens is so hard.

  • He has a pleasant voice but his "arguments" are weak. I have little respect for the man after this clip.

  • @MrJambons1 care to elaborate?

  • @BobMcCob I'd forgotten that I'd even watched that clip. If it didn't leave me with any memorable impression, I surely will not watch it again...

  • @MrJambons1 Closed ears closed eyes closed mind. Typical in the faithful.

  • 08:00 one of the best arguments on how religion is such a bullshit story!!

  • Notice how his brother glares at him during the debate. How interesting it is that two brothers that loathe each others' beliefs so much should grow up in the same family and diverge so completely.

  • @YesYou123333

Stalinism was a substitute for religion. Instead of God they praised Stalin.

It's the same shit. People blindly following rules and doing stupid stuff that stands in a book.

Hitchens wants the people to think for themselves.

  • @Verrsus Hitchens doesn't want people to think for themselves or he wouldn't be bitching about it. Hitchens wants people to think like him.

  • @Verrsus If Hitchens wanted people to think for themselves he would have posed more questions and told less stories about caricatures of religious ideas.

Our biggest problem is that we, as humans, always seem to need a scapegoat, somebody we can point to and say: "It's them! That's because this planet is so messed up"

Btw, it seems that you have a lot of faith in the words of Hitchens as well.

  • @Verrsus i agree nationalism is just as evil as religion and the similarities are obvious

  • @Verrsus Show me the relationship between God and Stalin. You can't. However, there IS a relationship between Stalin and atheism. Stalinist Russia is a prime example of a society run by atheism. There aren't too many atheists migrating from Christian countries to atheist ones. I wonder why.....

  • @YesYou123333 Do some research. For centuries, the czar of Russia was considered somewhat divine. A little more than a man. Stalin, who was an atheist yes (but more importantly just an evil man), jumped on this silly dogmatic tradition and took full advantage. The cult was born, and the results were horrifying. This is very close to all religions. ANYTIME there is suspension of critical thinking and enforcement of unprovable, unfalsifiable dogmatic claims, bad things happen!

  • @YesYou123333 Hello direly misinformed sir/madame. Did you know that the United States is actually NOT a Christian nation? In fact the founding fathers were all deists who did not believe in the Bible and followed their reasoning instead! Also, the Constitution does not mention religion AT all except in the Bill of Rights when it states that the government has NO right to PROMOTE or PROHIBIT any religion.

  • @YesYou123333 , and Article 6 Section 3 of the Constitution states that, "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." If the good ol' USA was truly a "Christian Nation" then the Constitution would state it wouldn't it?

The founding fathers were also smart enough to look at the mistakes Christian nations that came before them and create a clause that separates Church and State.

  • @YesYou123333 Where Hitchens chose to live is a country that guarantees a separation of church and state. Personally I rather like Atheist countrys like Denmark or Sweden, they have lower crime rates.

Basically the choice comes to this. Either you respect the Enlightenment, or you hanker for the Dark Ages.

  • @gamesbok Without the Christian US, those countries would be under Nazi rule today.

  • @YesYou123333 The Christian US sat on it's ass making money from the war until Germany (you know, the guys with Gott Mit Uns' on their belt buckles} declaired against them. Sweden over run by Nazis? In what fantasy universe? Oh, fogive me, silly question.

You'd better forget the Enlightenment question too.

  • @gamesbok First off, you're a fool if you don't think Nazi Germany wouldn't of taken Sweden. I know the fact the US saved Europe from tyranny bothers you but get over it. A CHRISTIAN US.

  • @YesYou123333 Well, if we discount the efforts of the Red Army, you know, the atheists who had been attacked by Christian Germany. The only force standing against Christian Germany and Christian Italy was the British Empire, an admixture of Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Janes, Parsees and a whole bunch of other folk who realised where there humanitarian duty lay appreciably faster than the Christian US.

  • @gamesbok If it wasn't for the CHRISTIAN U.S. your "Hindus, Muslim, Buddhist, Sikhs, Janes and Parsees" and whatever other mixture you can think of, would have been screaming "Sieg Heil" as well. The CHRISTIAN U.S. saved every country in Europe including the "British Empire".

  • @YesYou123333 I know you have difficulty with reality, but Britain had already defeated any threat of Nazi invasion in 1940. Although the prospect of victory was far away at that time, defeat had already been ruled out. Although Britain had been fighting an elected war against the Nazis, the US never did, but had war declaired against it. Up until that point the Nazis were being financed by the Union Bank of New York, presidents Averelle Harriman and Prescott Bush.. Some things never change.

  • @YesYou123333

the pope financed hitler - its common knowledge now to so many - the current one was member of hitler youth - so what the fuck are you going on about - the nazis are the same thing - a religious cult that thinks they;re the chosen ones - they thought they were the chosen ones

from where have you heard that term before

for interesting reading read Nazism is an Imitation of Judaism by Rabbi Waton - its all interlinked and we have had enough - im exhausted of believers...

  • @YesYou123333 Of course there were great Americans who recognised their humanitarian duty to fight the Christian backed fascists in 1936, and went to fight in Spain. The Christian US persecuted them for it. Were the volenteers Christain? Well, they were mostly communist, and, I think it's safe to assume, atheist. People like Rick Nelson and Oliver Law. The Christian US persecuted them for it. Hemingway of course, was not a communist, but he was certainly Atheist.

  • @YesYou123333 You are an idiot!!

  • @YesYou123333 Wtf? One of the most stupid coments I've ever read.... Hitchens was born and raised in a christian country, and now became citizen of another christian country.... That Stalin was an atheist has pretty much nothing to do with what he did... So, lets see what countries have the highest rate of christians... Most states in Africa (Thery're not doin so well I heard)... In comparison to Japan, which was not founded by christians, but is doing way better than the us... Your point is BS!

  • @kick2004 Your comment about Japan is hilarious. Japan copies everything from the US. Except for maybe that stupid animation crap they put out. Without the CHRISTIAN U.S. the world would collapse.

  • @YesYou123333 Bwahahaha ^^... Have you really said that right now... I'm literally rolling on the floor laughing ^^ Your are talking about china ^^.... Name ONE thing that Japanese have copied from the US ^^ Btw, I'm European, and I LOVE the US! Been there twice and would love to stay there... But not because of their religious morons....

  • @YesYou123333 State religions are what you are describing you dope. and actually Hitchens lives in a secular country, the U.S.

  • @YesYou123333 First off, totalitarian regimes substitute the state for a deity. It's religion based on worship of the state.

Second, the US is NOT a Christian nation. It was deliberately founded as a secular nation where religion was separate from gov't. Just because Christians are the majority doesn't make the US a Christian nation anymore than having a white majority makes us a white nation.

I suggest you read what the founders wrote instead of getting your history from church.

  • @ciaochowbella The US IS a Christian nation. The Establishment Clause was written to protect religion NOT to remove religion. Do you have any clue, any whatsoever, what was going on in Europe at the time? Get a REAL history book instead of the slop these left-wing nut cases are shoving down your throat. Atheists are said to be critical thinkers, right? Atheists can tell falsehoods a mile away, right? Slobbering over Hitchens won't help either.

  • @YesYou123333 No, the US is deliberately NOT a Christian Nation because of European theocracies.

To wit:"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...."--excerpt Article 11, Treaty of Tripoli, unanimously ratified into law by Congress in 1797.

Having a cogent grasp of US history doesn't make me an atheist. It means I'm educated. However, your ad hominem certainly demonstrates the content of your character.

  • @YesYou123333 God is not mention ANYWHERE in the US constitution. The separation of church and state is the most important founding principle of America and that will not change. Any attempt to change that in the educational system has ended in TOTAL defeat

    for the religious. Nice try!

  • @YesYou123333 What was the impetus for the establishment clause? The horrible consequences of uniting church and state, which had been done in Europe to the detriment of every individual. Establishing the USA as any kind of Christian (or any other faith) nation would have the totalitarian consequence. policy would be correct because a unquestionable God would command it, whether it were right or wrong. You should be very glad that the USA is not based on Christianity, but at the most, deism.

  • @YesYou123333 History has also shown what its like with god. The same.

  • @YesYou123333 America is not a Christian country.

  • @LTMagic21 it is a continent :p

  • @YesYou123333 Lol, the "founding fathers" weren't even Christians. You have no idea what you're talking about. I live in an atheist country, Holland, and we do just fine, better then America if you ask me. You idiots don't even realize that legalizing soft drugs is a good idea. I hope China takes the title from you dumbasses allready. Honestly, what the hell gives America, the largest producer of nuclear weapons, the right to tell other countries not to build nukes?

  • @YesYou123333

People /can be/ good without god. Much harder though when the inspired word of god demands some of the wretched shit demanded/suggested/hinted at in the bible.

  • Hitch delivers

  • There is something incredible about Mr. Hitchens voice. So calm, relaxed and shining with intelligence. GOD IS NOT GREAT :)

  • Thank you for posting this, Verrsus.

  • Hitch is awesome! :-)
